Wait for the Marathi content to appear, then wait for the document’s web-font set to settle before capturing. That synchronization helps, but it does not prove the intended font loaded or contains the required Devanagari glyphs. Check the rendered text in the same browser you will use for the screenshot, and keep the capture environment consistent if you are comparing images.
Capture the page after its Marathi text and fonts are ready
In a Playwright script, navigate to the route, wait for the relevant content, wait for document.fonts.ready, and then capture. Replace the URL and, if possible, the body locator with a selector for the Marathi content you need to verify.

A body element can exist before the specific text appears, and some sites load content or fonts only after scrolling or interaction. Wait for the actual content or trigger the state that reveals it before waiting for fonts.
Wait for the content you intend to capture
Prefer a locator that identifies the relevant Marathi heading, paragraph, or component. For example, if the page has a known heading:

Choose viewport or full-page capture deliberately
Use the default screenshot for the visible viewport, or set fullPage: true to capture the full page. If the page lazy-loads content as it scrolls, first trigger the relevant scroll or interaction and allow the content to load; a full-page option by itself does not prove every lazy-loaded region has reached its intended state. What document.fonts.ready does—and does not—guarantee
document.fonts.ready returns a promise for the document’s font set. Awaiting it is a useful point to synchronize a screenshot with font loading, but it does not establish that a particular web-font face loaded successfully or supports the characters on the page. MDN notes that the set of used fonts can differ from the declared fonts; optional fonts may not load in time. See MDN’s Document: fonts property.

Marathi is written in Devanagari. If characters appear as boxes, fallback glyphs, or unexpected shapes, first determine whether the text exists and whether the intended font actually rendered. Do not assume that a longer screenshot timeout, a locale change, or a different font-family name will fix a missing or unsuitable font. The sources available for this workflow do not establish one font stack or browser configuration guaranteed to render every Marathi website correctly.

Inspect the actual rendered result
- View the page in the same browser engine and runtime used for capture. Confirm the Marathi text is visible and its glyphs look correct.
- Check whether the intended web font loaded rather than assuming it did because it appears in the site’s CSS. A fallback font may show the text while changing its appearance.
- If text is still wrong, inspect the relevant font requests and the element’s computed font styling in browser developer tools. Establish whether the resource failed, whether the page selected a fallback, or whether the chosen face lacks the necessary glyphs before changing screenshot settings.
Chrome’s guidance explains that text can be displayed with a system font while a web font is not ready, and that switching from a temporary font to a custom one can affect layout: Ensure text remains visible during webfont load.
Separate missing content from incorrect rendering
A screenshot records pixels; it cannot tell you by itself whether the page omitted the text or whether the text exists but rendered incorrectly. Pair visual inspection with a text or accessibility inspection. Playwright describes screenshots as visual verification and accessibility snapshots as a way to inspect page structure in its Screenshots & PDF documentation.

For example, inspect the target text in the page before diagnosing the screenshot as a font problem:

Keep visual comparisons reproducible
Playwright warns that browser rendering can vary with the host operating system, browser version, settings, hardware, power source, headless mode, and other factors. Installed fonts and capture mode also matter when you compare Marathi screenshots. Keep these conditions the same between a baseline and later captures:

For regression snapshots, Playwright’s toHaveScreenshot() waits until two consecutive screenshots match before saving or comparing. That helps with visual stability, but it does not prove the correct font rendered. See Playwright’s Visual comparisons guide.

A GitHub issue opened September 29, 2026 and updated September 30, 2026 reports a Linux WebKit screenshot timeout while waiting for fonts in Playwright 1.63.0, with a 1.60.0 control passing in that reproduction. It is a report about one specific setup, not evidence of a universal or Marathi-specific defect: Microsoft Playwright issue #42986.
