To capture a mobile-width screenshot with URL2PNG, set its viewport option to your intended browser dimensions, such as 390x844. The first number is the render width in pixels and determines whether the site uses its narrow, responsive layout; the second is the viewport height. If the site chooses its presentation based on browser or device identification, also provide an appropriate mobile user_agent.
Build a URL2PNG request for a mobile viewport
URL2PNG’s v6 endpoint has this form: https://api.url2png.com/v6/{APIKEY}/{TOKEN}/png/?{query_string}. The query string contains the target page’s encoded url and the capture options. The token is an MD5 hash of the exact query string concatenated with your account secret, so finish encoding and ordering the parameters before generating it. Keep the secret on a trusted server; do not put it in browser-side code.
This Python-like example follows the documented signing pattern. It is explanatory pseudocode rather than a tested, drop-in request; consult the URL2PNG documentation for its language-specific examples and current requirements.

The URL-encoding and hashing must use the same final query string: if you change the target URL or an option, regenerate the token. Choose the options that determine what the screenshot shows
Set the render dimensions with viewport
Use viewport in width-by-height pixels. For example, 390x844 asks the browser to render the page at 390 pixels wide and 844 pixels tall. Pick a width that matches the mobile layout you want to inspect. URL2PNG documentation lists a default of 1480x1037 under Advanced Options, while its code examples show other defaults; specify the viewport explicitly rather than relying on an implicit value.
Decide whether to capture the viewport or the full document
fullpage defaults to false, which captures the requested viewport. Leave it false for a screen-sized mobile screenshot. Set it to true to attempt a capture of the full document canvas; this changes capture height, not the width at which the site lays itself out.
Use a mobile user agent only when the site needs it
A narrow viewport controls the browser dimensions, but it does not necessarily identify the browser as a phone. If a site serves different content based on browser or device identity, set user_agent to an appropriate mobile browser string as well. Cloudinary’s illustrative example pairs a mobile viewport with a mobile Safari user agent, but it uses an older iPhone string; do not copy that historical value uncritically for a current device test. A user agent is not needed merely to make a responsive layout narrower.

Do not confuse rendered width with output scaling
thumbnail_max_width constrains or scales the resulting image width. It does not make the page render at a mobile breakpoint. Use viewport to set the browser’s layout width; use output scaling only when you also need to limit the delivered image dimensions.
Wait for content that appears after initial page load
URL2PNG offers two documented ways to wait beyond document readiness and asset loading:
delaywaits a fixed number of seconds. It is useful when you cannot change the page and know a practical wait interval.say_cheese=truewaits for an element with IDurl2png-cheese. Prefer this readiness marker when you control the target page and can add it after the content you need is ready.
Neither option is documented as a guarantee that every third-party or late-loading element will be complete. If an image, ad, or widget still appears inconsistently, first check whether the page has a reliable readiness condition; increase a fixed delay only when that is the best signal available.

Get a fresh capture when the page changes
The URL2PNG quickstart gives a default cache TTL of 2592000 seconds (30 days). If a repeated request needs to reflect a changed page, use the unique option to vary the request value; the documentation suggests a timestamp. This is a cache-busting value, not a replacement for the target URL or viewport settings.
Use Cloudinary only if its delivery workflow fits your setup
Cloudinary documents URL2PNG as an add-on route: select the url2png delivery type and set the website URL as the public ID, then append options such as viewport and user_agent in the documented format. Cloudinary says the resulting screenshot is cached and delivered through its CDN. Its documentation also says dynamic screenshot transformation URLs must, by default, be eagerly generated or signed, which can help control access to generated URLs and unplanned dynamic-URL costs.
That Cloudinary-specific setup is not required for a direct URL2PNG API request. Use the direct endpoint when you want URL2PNG’s API directly; use the add-on workflow when it serves an existing Cloudinary integration. Troubleshoot common capture problems
The page renders as desktop instead of mobile
Check that viewport is present, encoded as width-by-height, and set to the desired narrow width. If the site chooses its layout by browser identity rather than width alone, also supply a suitable mobile user_agent.

For a screen-sized capture, clipping below the viewport is expected. If you need the whole document, set fullpage=true; it attempts to capture the full canvas while retaining the chosen render width.

The screenshot is stale
A repeat request may be served within the documented 30-day default TTL. Vary unique, for example with a timestamp, and regenerate the token from the changed query string.
A late element is missing
Use say_cheese=true with the expected url2png-cheese marker if you control the page, or use delay when a fixed wait is more practical. Neither setting guarantees that every third-party element has finished loading.
The signed request fails after an option change
Rebuild the complete encoded query string and compute the MD5 token again using that exact string followed by the account secret. Keep the secret server-side and ensure the string used to sign is the same one sent in the URL.

Confirm the render width in viewport. thumbnail_max_width affects output scaling, not the page’s responsive layout width.
