Use a Playwright mobile device profile, navigate to the page, wait for document.fonts.ready with page.evaluate(), then call page.screenshot(). This ensures the page’s fonts are ready before capture; it does not by itself wait for images, application data, or later interface changes.
Capture a mobile screenshot after fonts are ready
This JavaScript example uses Playwright’s registered iPhone 13 emulation profile. It saves a full-page PNG at CSS-pixel scale. Replace the profile and target URL to fit your test.

})();The device name is an example, not a requirement. Playwright’s device presets configure simulated values such as user agent, screen size, viewport, and touch. Choose a profile that reflects the layout scenario you need; this is browser emulation, not a capture from a physical handset. See Playwright’s Emulation documentation.
What the font wait does—and does not do
page.evaluate() waits for a promise returned by the browser-side function. Since document.fonts.ready resolves when the document’s font loading and related layout operations are complete, awaiting it before the screenshot helps avoid capturing before those fonts are ready. Font readiness is not a general page-readiness signal. It does not promise that unrelated images, application data, animations, or later interface updates have finished. If those affect the screenshot, wait for the relevant condition too—for example, a page-specific element or state that indicates the content is ready. Prefer a condition tied to the page’s actual behavior over an arbitrary fixed delay.
Choose the mobile profile and capture dimensions
Device profile and viewport
Use a preset from Playwright’s devices collection when its simulated device parameters suit your test. You can override the viewport if you need a different layout width or height. Record the browser engine and device configuration when you need reproducible captures; emulation settings describe a simulation, and do not establish that different platforms will produce pixel-identical output.

Viewport-only or full-page
By default, page.screenshot() captures the visible viewport. Set fullPage: true to capture the full scrollable page. Use viewport capture for a screen-sized view and full-page capture when content below the fold is part of the result.
CSS-pixel or device-pixel scale
Playwright’s screenshot scale defaults to 'device'. Set scale: 'css' for one output pixel per CSS pixel; use scale: 'device' for device-pixel output, which can create a larger image on high-density profiles. Choose deliberately when comparing images or controlling output dimensions.

Troubleshooting
- The screenshot still shows a fallback font: Confirm the page actually requests the intended font and that the font resource can load. Keep the
document.fonts.readywait before the screenshot, and check that you are capturing the expected page state. - Images or page content are missing: Font readiness does not wait for unrelated resources or application data. Add a wait for the relevant image, selector, or application-ready state.
- The screenshot is shorter than the whole page: Set
fullPage: true; otherwise, the capture is limited to the viewport. - Image dimensions differ from the expected CSS dimensions: Check the
scaleoption. Device scale is the documented default; select'css'when CSS-pixel dimensions are required. - The mobile layout does not match a particular phone: Check the selected preset and any viewport overrides. The result reflects configured emulation and should not be represented as a physical-device capture.
