Install a full-page screenshot extension from your browser’s add-on store, open the webpage, start the extension’s capture, and wait while it scrolls through and assembles the page. Inspect the finished image for missing or repeated content before saving it. The exact controls depend on the extension and browser; the steps below use GoFullPage as a documented example.

What a full-page screenshot extension does

A normal screenshot records what is visible in the browser window. A full-page extension captures content below the viewport by scrolling through the page and combining the visible portions into a longer image. Depending on the extension, you may also be able to export a PDF.

This process is not a guarantee that every webpage will capture perfectly. Interactive pages, embedded frames, content that loads as you scroll, protected browser pages, and exceptionally long documents can produce incomplete results or hit a tool’s limits.

Capture a webpage with an extension

  1. Choose an extension for your browser. Find it in the browser’s own add-on store. Check that the listing supports your browser and review its publisher, requested permissions, and current details before installing. Store availability and support can change.
  2. Open the page you want to capture. Wait for the content you need to appear. If the site loads additional material as you scroll, the final result may depend on how the page and extension handle that behavior.
  3. Start the extension’s full-page capture. Use its toolbar icon or the shortcut documented in its listing. GoFullPage describes clicking its extension icon or using its shortcut; it then scrolls through the page and captures each portion. See the GoFullPage Chrome Web Store listing.
  4. Wait for capture and assembly to finish. Avoid navigating away while the extension is working. GoFullPage notes that exceptionally large captures may be split into multiple images in separate tabs rather than delivered as one image. Its Firefox listing describes this behavior.
  5. Review and save the result. Check the top, middle, and bottom for missing sections, repeated sticky headers, or other unwanted content. Choose an available image or PDF output and save it. GoFullPage and OpenCapture describe image and PDF export options; availability may depend on the extension and version. OpenCapture’s site describes its capture and export features.
  6. Protect private information. Check the capture for account details, messages, or other sensitive material before sharing. OpenCapture lists blur and annotation features, but feature availability may differ by version. Check its current listing for supported browsers and features.

Choose an extension with the right behavior

Compare the current store listings against the needs of the page you want to capture. A feature description is not proof that a particular extension will work with every site.

If you need screenshots in a script or developer workflow, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return an image or PDF. Troubleshoot a bad or incomplete capture

  • The capture is missing lower sections: Wait for the extension to finish before leaving the page, then check whether the site loads content on scroll. Run the capture again after the relevant content is present.
  • Some sections repeat or overlap: Sticky navigation and other elements that stay fixed during scrolling can appear more than once in an assembled image. Inspect the output and try another capture; the available sources do not establish a universal fix for these page-specific artifacts.
  • The extension produces multiple images: The page may be too large for a single-image result. GoFullPage says exceptionally large captures can be split into images in separate tabs; save each part if the extension does this.
  • You cannot find the extension or its controls: Confirm it is installed in the browser you are using and check its current store listing for supported browsers and capture instructions.
  • You are unsure where page data is processed: Review the extension’s listing, privacy information, and permissions. OpenCapture describes local browser processing, but that publisher claim is not an independent security audit.
