Drag the crop guides, and save or share the resulting full-page still image. Google says this works on “most screens that allow you to scroll,” so the control is not guaranteed in every app or view.
What “full-page screenshot” means on Pixel
Google’s interface calls this a scrolling screenshot. It creates one tall still image containing content below the visible screen, rather than several separate screenshots. The feature is built into Pixel phones; you do not need an app, accessory or subscription.
The documented support boundary is Android 12 and later, on most screens that allow scrolling. A page can be visibly scrollable and still omit Capture more if that screen does not support the system capture flow. Google does not publish an exhaustive app-compatibility list, so compatibility must be checked on the screen you are capturing.
How to capture a full-page screenshot
- Open the content. Navigate to the app, document, conversation or web page and position it where you want the capture to begin.
- Take the standard screenshot. Press the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time, then release them.
- Choose Capture more. Screenshot controls appear, usually with a preview. Tap Capture more. If it is not shown, use the troubleshooting section below.
- Set the final bounds. Drag the crop guides to include the additional content you need. The preview expands as you move the lower guide. Keep the upper guide at the correct starting point unless you intentionally want to trim the top.
- Save or share. Use the controls in the screenshot preview to save, edit or share the completed image. If you leave the preview, the file is still available in your screenshot folder.
The exact wording or icon placement can vary by Pixel model, Android build and language, but the sequence remains the same: normal screenshot first, then Capture more.

Where the screenshot is saved
The quickest route is to tap the screenshot preview immediately after capture. To find it later in Google Photos, open Collections → On this device → Screenshots. Menu labels can vary by locale or Photos version. Google’s Android instructions are available at Android Help, and Pixel-specific screenshot guidance is at Pixel Phone Help.
If “Capture more” does not appear
Start with the documented limitation rather than assuming a particular browser or app is responsible: Google promises the feature on Android 12 and up, on most scrollable screens, not all of them.
Check the Android version
Open Settings → About phone → Android version. If the device is below Android 12, the built-in scrolling control is not covered by Google’s support statement. Install an available system update under Settings → System → Software update, then try again.
Confirm you used the normal screenshot shortcut
Capture more appears after a screenshot, not before it. Press Power + Volume down together and wait for the screenshot preview and controls. Pixel’s app-switcher screenshot option can also take an ordinary screenshot, but the button combination is the clearest way to test scrolling capture.

Try a different scrollable screen
Capture a long page in another app that you control. If Capture more appears there, the original screen likely does not expose the required scrolling interface. Google’s help pages do not list every supported or unsupported app, so avoid treating an old community claim about a specific browser as a current rule.
Make sure there is content below the viewport
The control is useful only when more content exists below the initial screenshot. A short page, a fully expanded view or a screen whose scrolling area is inside a special component may not offer additional capture bounds.
Use an ordinary screenshot when necessary
If scrolling capture is unavailable, take several ordinary screenshots with Power + Volume down and label or combine them later. This produces separate images, not one continuous full-page file.
Scrolling screenshot versus screen recording
A scrolling screenshot is a single still image suited to a receipt, article, settings page or conversation that must be read or archived. Pixel’s screen recorder creates a video instead, which is better for showing taps, animation or a process over time.

Google documents recording either one app or the whole screen in its Pixel screen-recording instructions. A recording does not substitute for a full-page still when the reader needs one image to print, annotate or upload.
Quality, privacy and practical limits
Review the bottom edge
Before sharing, inspect the lower crop guide and the final image. It is easy to include an extra section or cut off the last line when dragging the handle.
Protect sensitive information
Scrolling capture can include everything below the starting point: account identifiers, private messages, addresses and tokens. Crop or edit the image before sending it, and avoid uploading confidential screenshots to public services.
Expect a tall image
Long captures can be awkward in messaging apps and may be resized or split by the recipient. For a very long document, a PDF or the original file may be easier to search and print than a single raster image.

Respect app and content restrictions
Some protected or security-sensitive screens may block screenshots. The Pixel controls cannot override an app’s policy. Follow the owner’s permission and copyright requirements before distributing captured content.
Troubleshooting checklist
- No screenshot preview: Press both buttons simultaneously, without holding either one for several seconds. A long press can open the power menu instead.
- No Capture more button: Confirm Android 12 or later, verify that the screen actually scrolls, and test another app. The current screen may simply be unsupported.
- Capture stops too early: Reopen the screenshot controls and move the lower crop guide farther down. Some screens expose only the scrollable region they report to Android.
- Image is missing: Open the preview, then check Google Photos at Collections → On this device → Screenshots. Labels differ by locale and app version.
- Buttons are difficult to press together: Use the Pixel app-switcher screenshot command for an ordinary screenshot, then test whether the resulting controls offer Capture more.
- You need motion instead of a still: Start a one-app or whole-screen recording from Quick Settings; use it only when a video communicates the task better.
