Apple documents this workflow for webpages that continue below the visible screen. The steps below apply to iPhone; Safari on Mac uses different screen-capture and webpage-saving tools.
Capture an entire Safari webpage on iPhone
- Open the page. Launch Safari and navigate to the webpage you want to capture. Wait for the content you need to appear.
- Take a screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, press and quickly release the Side button and Volume Up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, press and quickly release the Side button and Home button together.
- Open the preview. Tap the thumbnail that appears in the lower-left corner. If the thumbnail disappears, open the screenshot from Photos and use the available editing controls.
- Choose Full Page. In the screenshot editor, tap Full Page. A tall preview represents the webpage beyond the visible screen.
- Inspect and trim. Drag through the preview to check that the required sections are present. Use the crop controls if you need only part of the page. You can also annotate the capture in the editor.
- Save the result. Choose the command to save the screenshot to Photos as an image, or choose Save PDF to Files when you need a document in the Files app.
Apple describes the feature as capturing a full page beyond the edge of the screen, with Safari webpages given as an example. The available buttons and final file location depend on whether you save an image or a PDF.
Choose the right output: image or PDF

The full-page screenshot editor is the straightforward choice when you need an image or a PDF of the captured page. If your goal is specifically a marked-up webpage PDF, Safari also provides a separate route: open the page, use Safari’s page menu and Share control, choose Markup, then save the file. Safari’s Share control can appear in different locations depending on whether your tab layout is set to Bottom or Top.
Use accessibility shortcuts to start the screenshot
Apple lists Siri, AssistiveTouch, and Back Tap as alternatives to pressing the hardware buttons. These options change how the initial screenshot is triggered; they do not create a separate Full Page process. After the screenshot is made, open its preview and tap Full Page in the same way.

What to do when Full Page is missing
The documented Apple workflow does not promise that the Full Page control appears for every type of content. Check these practical points before assuming the capture failed:
- Confirm that you took the screenshot while the webpage was open in Safari, not from a different app or a view that does not expose a page-length capture.
- Open the screenshot editor from the thumbnail immediately, then look for the Full Page tab beside the standard screen view.
- Return to the page and wait for content you need, such as images, to finish loading before taking the screenshot.
- If you only need a visible section, use the normal screenshot and crop it rather than forcing a full-page file.
- For a document-style result, try Safari’s page-menu, Share, Markup, and save-to-Files PDF workflow instead.
Apple’s guide does not publish a minimum iOS version, a complete model-by-model compatibility list, or a definitive explanation for every case in which Full Page is unavailable. Avoid treating its appearance as guaranteed for every page or content type.
Image versus PDF: practical trade-offs
Save an image to Photos
Use the image option when the recipient needs a picture that can be previewed immediately. Review the full-page preview first: a very long page can be difficult to read when displayed as one tall image, and cropping can make a focused section more useful.

Save a PDF to Files
Use Save PDF to Files when the output will be stored with documents, attached to an email, or opened in a PDF reader. Choose a clear folder and filename so the capture can be found later. The PDF route is still generated from the screenshot editor; it is not the same as saving Safari’s underlying webpage files.

Use Safari’s Markup PDF workflow
When annotations are the main reason for exporting, use Safari’s page menu and Share control, select Markup, and save the resulting PDF. The Share control’s position varies with Safari’s tab layout, so check both the top and bottom layout conventions if you cannot see it where expected.
Safari on Mac: do not confuse the workflows
Apple’s Mac screenshot instructions cover the entire screen, a selected area, or a window or menu through keyboard shortcuts and the Screenshot app. They do not document an iPhone-style Full Page webpage screenshot in Safari for Mac.

Safari on Mac does provide webpage-saving formats. Web Archive can preserve webpage graphics and links for later use while destination pages remain available, and Page Source saves the page’s HTML source. These are webpage files, not full-page screenshot images. Some pages may prevent saving items. Choose a Mac screen capture when you need pixels from the display, or a Web Archive/Page Source when you need page data rather than a visual snapshot.

Troubleshooting checklist
The screenshot thumbnail disappeared
Take the screenshot again and tap the thumbnail promptly. If it is already gone, open Photos and edit the saved screenshot; the immediate Full Page tab is easiest to reach from the preview.

The page is cut off
Reopen the webpage, wait for late-loading content, and repeat the Side-plus-Volume-Up or Side-plus-Home sequence. Then inspect the entire Full Page preview before saving.
The PDF is in the wrong place
Use the Files destination picker when choosing Save PDF to Files, and note the folder and filename. Images are saved through Photos instead.
You are on a Mac
Use the Mac Screenshot app or keyboard shortcuts for screen pixels. Use Safari’s Web Archive or Page Source commands when preserving webpage data; neither is the iPhone Full Page image workflow.

Can I capture only one section of a long Safari page?
Yes. In the Full Page editor, inspect the long preview and crop it to the section you need before saving.
Does Full Page automatically create a PDF?
No. The screenshot editor lets you save the full-page result as an image or choose Save PDF to Files.
Is a Safari Web Archive a screenshot?
No. A Web Archive is a webpage-saving format that can preserve graphics and links; it is not a rendered full-page screenshot image.
