There is no single guaranteed amount that every Twitch subscription pays a streamer. Estimate each subscription from the subscriber’s actual local price, subtract the deductions Twitch applies, and multiply the remaining net revenue by your contractual share. The standard Affiliate share is 50/50; qualifying Plus participants receive 60/40 (Level 1) or 70/30 (Level 2).
Use this formula for paid subscriptions: Estimated paid-sub revenue = Σ[(actual subscription price − applicable deductions) × creator share rate]. Group subscriptions by tier, viewer country and platform when the prices differ. Add Prime subscriptions separately from Twitch’s fixed country-rate table, then reconcile the estimate with your Creator Dashboard and payout history.
What the Twitch split actually applies to
Twitch’s stated percentage is a share of net subscription revenue, not automatically half of the price shown to a viewer. Twitch says deductions are taken from the full subscription price before the split. Depending on the transaction, deductions can include taxes, payment-processing charges, bank fees and currency-conversion costs. Required tax withholding can reduce the amount ultimately displayed in your payout records as well.

The 60/40 and 70/30 figures are still applied to net revenue after the documented deductions. They are not percentages of the sticker price before taxes and transaction costs.
The calculation method, step by step
1. Separate the subscription types
Make three buckets before doing arithmetic:
- Paid subscriptions: recurring subscriptions purchased by viewers at the price shown for their country, tier and checkout platform.
- Gift subscriptions: paid subscriptions purchased for another viewer. Keep them identifiable in your records so the transaction price and country associated with each purchase are not lost. Where Twitch reports the gift as a paid subscription, apply the same net-revenue formula rather than treating it as a Prime token.
- Prime subscriptions: a monthly Prime Gaming token. It does not auto-renew and is paid using a fixed country rate, not the viewer’s normal subscription price.
Do not combine these buckets in one average. Prime activity follows a different rate table and can settle on a different schedule.
2. Record the price that actually applies
For every paid-subscription group, record the tier, viewer country, currency and platform (for example, web or mobile where Twitch presents a different price). Twitch uses local subscription pricing, so creator revenue is tied to the price subscribers pay in their local currency. A low-priced local tier and a US-priced tier are not interchangeable observations.
If your audience is international, create one line per country-and-tier combination. The correct base is the actual local checkout price for the period being analyzed, not a US price converted after the fact and not a worldwide average.
3. Select the share rate in force when the revenue was earned
Use 0.50 for the standard Affiliate arrangement, 0.60 for Plus Level 1 or 0.70 for Plus Level 2. Verify which rate your agreement and qualification status assign to the period. Plus qualification is based on the published point thresholds—100 points for three consecutive months for Level 1 and 300 for three consecutive months for Level 2—and the enhanced rate is described as lasting 12 months from qualification.
Do not apply a Plus rate to months before qualification or assume a higher rate continues indefinitely without continued qualification. If your contract contains a different provision, the contract controls the payout.

4. Account for deductions before multiplying
Let P be the local subscription price and D the applicable deductions. Then calculate N = P − D, where N is net subscription revenue. Deductions may include:
- Taxes collected or payable on the transaction.
- Payment-processing fees.
- Bank charges.
- Currency-conversion fees.
Because the exact deduction mix depends on the transaction and your agreement, a public calculation usually cannot know D precisely. If you only know the listed price, label the result as a gross-share illustration and say that the eventual payout can be lower.
5. Multiply net revenue by your rate
For each group, use creator amount = (P − D) × share rate. Sum all groups for the period:
Total paid-sub estimate = Σ[(price for each country/tier group − deductions for that group) × applicable share rate]
Keep the country and tier attached to every number. This prevents a high-price group from masking a low-price group when you review the result.
Worked US Tier 1 example (estimate, not a guaranteed payout)
Twitch’s current Local Subscription Pricing country table lists a US web Tier 1 subscription at $5.99 (table accessed in 2026). The following calculations deliberately use the listed price without inventing a deduction amount, so they show a gross-share illustration rather than a promised payout.

The standard illustration is why the often-repeated “$2.50 per sub” rule is unreliable. It uses an outdated or assumed price and ignores local pricing, deductions and agreement terms. Even this $5.99 example is specific to a US web Tier 1 price in the cited current table; it is not a universal Twitch amount.
How local pricing changes the result
Twitch’s Local Subscription Pricing guidance says creator subscription revenue is directly related to the price subscribers pay in their local currency, while the revenue-share percentage remains the same. A subscriber in one country may therefore generate a different creator amount from a subscriber at the same tier in another country.
For example, if your records contain a $1.99 local-price subscription and a $5.99 US web subscription, calculate them as separate groups:

- Add the two results only after both calculations are complete.
Do not average $1.99 and $5.99 and then multiply every subscription by that average. The mix of countries and tiers changes from month to month, so an average can conceal a meaningful change in audience geography.
Currency and platform checks
- Keep the original transaction currency in your working sheet and record the conversion rate or converted amount shown in your payout records.
- Mark whether the purchase was made on web or a mobile checkout when Twitch lists different prices.
- Use the price for the billing period being reconciled; local prices and taxes can change over time.
- Do not infer a deduction from the viewer-facing total alone. The dashboard or payout statement is the better record of net amounts and fees.
Prime Gaming subscriptions require a separate calculation
A Prime member receives a monthly subscription token that does not auto-renew. Twitch publishes a fixed payout rate for each viewer country in its Prime Subscription Revenue Guide, rather than using the normal paid-subscription price and percentage split.

The Prime guide was last updated October 10, 2025. Twitch notes that some Prime payouts may take up to 45 days after the end of the month. That delay can make a month’s dashboard total appear lower until the Prime activity settles.

For a Prime estimate, multiply the number of tokens from each country by that country’s fixed rate, then account for any taxes, fees or payout-method costs shown in your records:

Prime estimate = Σ[(Prime subscriptions in country) × (country fixed rate)]
Do not use the $5.99 US web price, a 50/50 split or a Plus percentage for a Prime token. Prime is a separate payment category with its own country table and timing.
Reconciling your estimate with the Creator Dashboard
Public arithmetic is useful for planning, but your Creator Dashboard and payout history are the authoritative places to reconcile what Twitch actually credited. Menu names can change, so open the current revenue and payout-history views in your dashboard and match the period shown there.
- Choose one period. Use the same calendar or payout period in your worksheet and dashboard. Do not compare a calendar month with a payout that includes a different settlement window.
- Export or record transaction categories. Separate paid subscriptions, gift subscriptions and Prime subscriptions. Preserve country, tier and currency where available.
- Check the applicable share. Confirm whether the period uses the standard 50/50 rate, Plus Level 1 or Plus Level 2, and note the qualification dates.
- Compare net revenue, not sticker-price math. Look for taxes, processing charges, bank or conversion fees and any other deductions reported for the period.
- Check withholding. Required tax withholding can reduce the payout shown even when the subscription count and revenue share are unchanged.
- Review timing differences. Prime activity can arrive after the month closes, sometimes up to 45 days later, so keep an accrual note for unsettled Prime tokens.
- Investigate the largest variance first. A country mix change, an incorrectly assumed Plus rate, a Prime delay or withholding usually explains more than rounding a few cents.
A simple worksheet layout

Use a spreadsheet formula such as =Count*(Price-Deductions)*ShareRate for paid rows. Use a separate Prime formula, =PrimeCount*FixedPrimeRate, so a Prime row cannot accidentally inherit a 50/50 or Plus percentage.
Why your payout can differ from a subscription-price calculation
The viewer paid a local price
The tier label does not guarantee one worldwide price. Country pricing means two Tier 1 subscriptions can begin with different bases, and mobile or web checkout can matter where Twitch publishes different prices.

Deductions happened before the split
Taxes, payment processing, bank charges and currency conversion reduce the amount to which the creator percentage is applied. A calculation based only on the viewer-facing price therefore overstates net revenue.
Your agreement rate was not the rate you assumed
Standard Affiliates use the published 50/50 arrangement. Plus rates require the published point thresholds and qualification period. Applying 60/40 or 70/30 without confirming qualification creates a systematic overestimate.
Withholding reduced the displayed payout
Tax withholding is separate from the revenue-share percentage. The subscription count and net split can be correct while the amount transferred or displayed after withholding is lower.

Prime settled later
Prime tokens use fixed country rates and can take up to 45 days after month end to appear in settlement. A missing Prime amount is not evidence that the token used the paid-subscription formula.
Rounding accumulated across many rows
Rounding each transaction to cents before summing can differ slightly from summing unrounded values and rounding once. Keep full precision in the worksheet and round only the displayed total.

Planning scenarios without overstating certainty
For a forecast, build a range rather than one universal “per-sub” number. Use your recent country-and-tier mix as the volume assumption, calculate a conservative case with the standard 50/50 rate and expected deductions, and calculate an upside case only if Plus qualification is confirmed. Keep Prime tokens in a separate line with their country rates and a timing reserve.
Label every forecast with its assumptions: period, countries, tiers, platform, share rate, deduction treatment and whether Prime is accrued or cash-settled. A forecast that says “1,000 subs × $3” is not auditable; a forecast that lists 600 US web Tier 1 paid subs, 250 lower-priced local subs, 100 gifts and 50 Prime tokens by country can be checked against the dashboard.

Common mistakes and fixes
- Mistake: saying every streamer gets $2.50. Fix: start with the actual local price and current agreement, then deduct applicable costs.
- Mistake: using the gross price as net revenue. Fix: show the gross-share illustration separately and subtract documented deductions before applying the percentage.
- Mistake: averaging countries before calculating. Fix: calculate one row per country and tier, then sum.
- Mistake: treating Prime as a normal recurring sub. Fix: use Twitch’s fixed country Prime table and allow for delayed settlement.
- Mistake: overlooking gifts. Fix: identify the purchase transaction and its category in your records rather than assuming the recipient’s renewal price.
- Mistake: applying Plus rates permanently. Fix: record the qualification date, 12-month enhanced-rate window and continued-qualification status.
- Mistake: comparing unlike periods. Fix: align the worksheet period with the dashboard payout period and note unsettled Prime activity.
- Mistake: ignoring withholding. Fix: reconcile gross credited revenue, withholding and final payout as separate figures.
What you can and cannot know from public information
You can produce a defensible estimate from the subscription count, each viewer group’s local price, the applicable share rate and a stated deduction assumption. You cannot derive a guaranteed universal amount per sub from public arithmetic because Twitch does not publish one amount that covers every country, tier, platform, agreement and payout method.
The Creator Dashboard and payout history resolve the channel-specific details: the net revenue Twitch credited, categories included, withholding and settlement timing. Use public calculations for planning and anomaly detection, then use those records for the final number.
