To buy Shalby Limited shares in India, open a bank account, a trading account with a SEBI-registered broker connected to a recognized exchange, and a demat account with a registered depository participant (DP). Complete KYC, transfer funds to the trading account, search for SHALBY on NSE (or verify BSE code 540797), choose a market or limit order, check every amount shown on the order ticket, and retain the contract note until the shares appear in your demat statement after settlement.
The process is straightforward, but the security identifier, order type and fee schedule matter. Broker charges, statutory levies and demat fees vary, so the broker tariff and contract note—not a promotional headline—are the authoritative record for your transaction.
Identify the correct Shalby security before placing an order

Shalby’s investor-relations page describes the company as NSE- and BSE-listed and states that it operates 11 tertiary hospitals with aggregate capacity above 2,000 beds. That description is useful for confirming identity, but it is not a valuation, return or suitability assessment. A share purchase gives you market exposure; deciding whether that exposure is appropriate requires separate analysis of price, financial results, risk and your own objectives.

Accounts and registrations you need
Bank account
Your bank account supplies the money used for a purchase and receives withdrawals from the trading account. Use a bank account in your own name that the intermediary accepts, and keep the account details consistent with your KYC information. NSE’s investor guidance describes transferring money from the bank account to the trading account before initiating a purchase.
Trading account
The trading account is the order-routing relationship with your broker. Select an intermediary that is registered with SEBI and connected to a recognized exchange. Registration and exchange connectivity are different from the app’s appearance or a low advertised fee; verify the regulatory and tariff information in the broker’s current documentation.
Demat account
A demat account holds shares in electronic form. SEBI Investor defines it as an account with a SEBI-registered depository participant of a recognized depository. Your DP may be part of the same financial group as the broker or a separate provider, but the holding account must be properly registered. There is no minimum demat balance requirement under SEBI’s investor charter.
KYC documents and verification
Most account-opening applications ask for:
- PAN.
- Identity proof.
- Address proof.
- A recent photograph.
- Bank-account details and any supporting document requested by the intermediary.
The broker verifies the application before activation. Depending on the intermediary and your circumstances, verification can include an in-person or video process. Submit only documents through the intermediary’s official, secure onboarding flow and make sure names, dates of birth and addresses match across records.
Regular demat account or BSDA?
A Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA) can reduce annual maintenance charges for eligible investors. It is not a different way to place a Shalby order; it is a demat-service category with eligibility conditions and limits. Ask the DP whether you qualify and read the applicable rules before switching or opening an account.

The BSDA thresholds concern the value of holdings and the applicable account rules, not a guaranteed fee for every investor. Confirm the exact AMC and any other charges in the DP’s tariff.

How to buy SHALBY shares: the complete workflow

Step 1: Choose a regulated intermediary
Check that the broker is SEBI-registered and offers access to a recognized exchange. Read the current tariff for brokerage, platform fees, DP charges and other services. A low or zero headline brokerage figure may not describe the total cost of your order.

Step 2: Open the trading and demat accounts
Complete the application in the broker’s onboarding flow, provide PAN, identity and address proof, photograph and bank details, and finish any requested in-person or video verification. Wait for the broker’s confirmation that the accounts are active before attempting to trade.

Step 3: Add money to the trading account
Transfer the amount you intend to use from the linked bank account to the trading account using a permitted funding method. Leave enough available balance for the purchase price plus the charges displayed by the broker. Do not assume that the visible share value is the final debit.

Step 4: Find and verify the security
Use the broker’s search field and enter
SHALBYfor NSE. If you are routing through BSE, verify code540797. Check that the result names Shalby Limited and that you have selected the intended equity segment, rather than a different instrument or exchange listing. -
Step 5: Enter the order instructions
Specify the quantity, choose market or limit pricing, and select the order-validity option offered by the platform. Review the estimated order value, available funds, displayed brokerage, exchange or transaction fees, statutory taxes or levies, and any DP-related amount shown before submission. If an order ticket shows a warning or a different segment than intended, stop and correct it.

Step 6: Submit, record and monitor
Submit only after checking every field. Save the order number and status. When the broker issues the contract note, compare its quantity, price and charges with your order. Keep the contract note and monitor the demat statement until the delivered shares are credited after settlement.

Market order versus limit order
The order type determines the trade-off between execution and price control. Neither type guarantees a profit, and a market order does not guarantee the last displayed price.

For either order, confirm the quantity, validity, exchange and estimated charges. A limit order can execute partially if only part of the requested quantity is available at or below your limit; check the broker’s order-status and validity rules for the precise treatment.
What to check on the order ticket
Before pressing Buy, use this checklist:
- Security: Shalby Limited, with NSE symbol
SHALBYor BSE code540797. - Segment and exchange: The intended equity segment and exchange are selected.
- Quantity: The number of shares is correct; check for accidental extra zeroes.
- Price instruction: Market or limit is intentional. For a limit order, verify the maximum price.

- Funds: Available balance covers the estimated value and all displayed charges.
- Fees and taxes: Brokerage, exchange or transaction charges, statutory taxes or levies and any demat-service amount are visible or explained in the tariff.
- Confirmation: The final review screen shows the same quantity and instruction you entered.

Do not calculate a final cost from brokerage alone. The contract note is the authoritative record for a specific executed order, while the broker and DP tariffs explain the applicable rates and triggers. Keep both documents so an unexpected debit can be matched to a line item.
After submission: order status, settlement and demat credit
Check the order status
The platform should show whether the order is pending, executed, partially executed, rejected or cancelled. A pending limit order may simply be waiting for a seller at your specified price. Do not place a second order until you understand the first order’s status; otherwise you could buy more shares than intended.
Read the contract note
After execution, the broker issues a contract note. Verify the security, executed quantity, execution price, trade date, exchange, brokerage and every tax or fee. Save the document in a location you can access later for tax and record-keeping purposes.

Confirm delivery in the demat statement
Shares bought for delivery should appear in the demat account after the applicable settlement process. Monitor the demat statement rather than relying only on an app notification. If the quantity is missing or incorrect after the stated settlement window, contact the broker first with the order number and contract note.

The search returns several instruments
Stop and compare the company name, exchange and identifier. Use SHALBY for NSE or 540797 for BSE, and confirm that the instrument is Shalby Limited equity. Never choose a result solely because its name looks similar.
The order is rejected for insufficient funds
Check the available trading balance, not just your bank balance. Add funds through the permitted method or reduce the quantity, leaving room for displayed brokerage, taxes, exchange charges and other applicable amounts. Review the rejection message before resubmitting.
A market order executes at an unexpected price
Market orders take available prices when they reach the exchange, so the execution price can move away from the quote. For future orders, consider whether a limit price better matches your objective, while accepting that a limit order may not execute.
A limit order does not execute
Review the current order status, limit price and validity. The market may not have offered shares at or below your limit during the valid period. Modify or cancel only through the broker’s stated workflow, and verify that the original order is no longer active before submitting another one.

Compare the contract note with the demat statement, then contact the broker or DP with the order number, trade date and quantity. Ask which settlement status they see and request a written explanation if the records do not match.

The debit is higher than expected
Open the contract-note breakdown and match each line to the broker tariff: brokerage, exchange or transaction charges, statutory levies, taxes and any DP service fee. If a charge is not explained, ask the broker for the tariff clause and calculation rather than relying on an estimate shown before execution.
How to compare broker and demat plans
No single fee figure captures service quality or total cost. Compare the current documents against the way you intend to trade.

Use the tariff in force on the date of your order. Promotional pricing can change, and a plan that is inexpensive for one transaction pattern may cost more for another.

For matters concerning shareholder records, transfers, corporate actions or other company-level servicing, Shalby identifies KFin Technologies Limited as its registrar and transfer agent. Shalby’s investor-relations materials also publish investor-support contacts. Use those official contacts for registrar issues, while directing order execution, funds and demat-credit questions to your broker or DP.

Opening the required accounts and buying SHALBY explains how to complete a transaction; it does not establish that the shares are cheap, suitable or likely to rise. A live price, target price or return forecast is not included here because those values change and require a current, directly cited market-data source. Before committing money, consider your time horizon, liquidity needs, ability to tolerate loss and the concentration created by adding one company to your holdings.
Keep your PAN, account credentials and transaction records secure. Review demat statements regularly, reconcile them with contract notes and report unauthorized activity promptly through the broker, DP and relevant investor-protection channels.
