Jio Platforms Limited’s initial public offering (IPO) is scheduled to accept public bids from Wednesday, October 21 through Friday, October 23, 2026. To apply, you need a demat account with a SEBI-registered intermediary and either your own UPI ID linked to a bank account or an ASBA facility. The final price band and lot size must be taken from the latest Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) and price-band notice before you submit a bid.
Reliance Industries’ October 14, 2026 filing also describes a reservation of up to ₹2,500 crore for eligible public Reliance Industries shareholders. Eligibility is tested using the shareholder position on October 14, 2026, the RHP filing date; buying Reliance Industries shares after that date does not automatically create quota eligibility.
Jio Platforms IPO: the confirmed timetable and terms
The currently announced public timetable comes from Reliance Industries’ exchange disclosure accompanying the RHP filing. It is the schedule to use unless a later exchange notice changes it.

An “up to” figure is a ceiling, not a promise that the issue will contain exactly that number of shares or that a reservation will be filled to its maximum. Treat the RHP as the controlling document for the final terms.

What you need before the bid window opens
A demat account
IPO shares are credited electronically, so you must have an active demat account. Open one with a SEBI-registered stock broker, depository participant or another permitted intermediary early enough to complete account verification. If you already hold securities electronically, confirm that the demat account is active and that the name and other application details match the bank and tax records used for the IPO application.
Your own UPI ID, or an ASBA-enabled bank route
For a UPI application, use a UPI ID belonging to you and linked to your own bank account. SEBI’s investor guidance does not permit a third-party UPI ID or third-party bank account for the application. The bank app must be able to receive and approve an IPO mandate.
ASBA is the alternative bank-based route. Under ASBA, the application amount is blocked in the bank account while the application is considered, rather than being transferred immediately to the issue. Confirm with your bank that its IPO/ASBA service is available and that your account can place an application during the stated window.

Before bidding, keep the amount required for the quantity and price you intend to apply for available in the linked bank account. A UPI mandate can be validated only if the bank can place the requested block. A block is not the same as a final debit: money is debited only for shares allotted, while excess blocked funds are released through the process described by SEBI.

The current RHP and price-band notice
The DRHP announcement established the broad structure, but it did not establish the final price band or bid lot in the information summarized here. Read the latest RHP and the price-band notice on the exchange issue page or through your intermediary immediately before applying. Those documents also determine category definitions, cut-off instructions, bid-editing rules and the timetable for allotment and listing.
How to apply through a broker or other permitted intermediary
SEBI says an IPO application may be submitted through a syndicate member, registered stock broker, registrar and transfer agent or depository participant. The labels differ by platform, but the information you enter and the payment authorization must correspond to the same investor and demat account.
- Sign in during October 21–23. Open the IPO section of your SEBI-registered broker, depository participant or other permitted intermediary during the public bid window. Select the Jio Platforms IPO, checking that the issuer name and issue dates match the current notice.
- Read the live terms. Note the final price band, minimum bid lot, maximum quantity permitted for your category and the application cut-off time displayed by the intermediary. Do not substitute figures from the earlier DRHP announcement.
- Choose your investor category. Select the ordinary retail category if you are applying as a retail investor and meet its limits. If you qualify for the Reliance Industries shareholder reservation under the RHP, select that category only when the platform provides it and you can substantiate the eligibility statement.
- Enter the bid. Enter the number of lots or shares allowed by the current lot size and select a price within the announced band. If the RHP or platform offers a cut-off option for an eligible retail application, follow its exact wording; do not assume that option applies to every category.
- Use your own UPI ID. Enter the UPI ID linked to your own bank account. Review the application number, demat details, quantity, price and amount before submitting. A third party must not approve the mandate for you.
- Approve the mandate in your bank app. Your UPI app or bank app should display an IPO block request. Check the issuer, amount and application details, then approve it before the bank’s deadline. SEBI describes the sequence as validation of the block request followed by blocking the funds in the investor’s account.
- Save the confirmation. Keep the application number and the UPI mandate reference. A broker’s “submitted” screen is not a substitute for a successfully approved bank mandate; check both the intermediary status and the UPI app.
Applying through ASBA instead of UPI
ASBA can be preferable when your bank’s IPO service is reliable and you do not want to manage a UPI mandate. The money remains blocked in the designated bank account while the application is processed.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Open your bank’s ASBA or IPO application area, or ask a designated branch or permitted intermediary for the current ASBA form.
- Select Jio Platforms IPO and enter the demat account, category, quantity and price exactly as stated in the latest RHP and price-band notice.
- Authorize the bank to block the application amount. Confirm that the available balance covers the requested block.
- Retain the application or acknowledgment number and monitor the bank or registrar status through the issue’s official channels.
ASBA avoids the UPI mandate-approval step, but it depends on the bank’s own interface, cut-off time and processing controls. A bank-based block is still not an allotment or a final purchase; the debit is made only for shares actually allotted.
UPI versus ASBA: which route fits?
| Consideration | UPI | ASBA |
|---|---|---|
| Where you apply | Broker, depository participant or another permitted intermediary, followed by your bank’s UPI app | Bank ASBA service, designated branch or another permitted intermediary |
| Authorization | Approve a UPI mandate in your own bank app | Authorize the bank to block funds through its ASBA process |
| How funds move | Amount is blocked after mandate validation; only the allotted amount is debited | Amount is blocked in the bank account; only the allotted amount is debited |
| Retail limit stated by SEBI | ₹5 lakh per transaction | The UPI transaction cap does not apply to the ASBA mechanism; follow your bank and category limits |
| Main convenience | Fast mobile workflow when your UPI app and bank respond promptly | Single bank-controlled workflow without a separate UPI mandate |
| Main failure point | Unapproved, expired or rejected mandate; wrong or third-party UPI details | Bank cut-off, unavailable ASBA service or insufficient available balance |
The ₹5 lakh figure is SEBI’s retail UPI application limit per transaction. It does not establish the final Jio Platforms price, lot size or a maximum number of shares for every investor category.
Reliance Industries shareholder reservation: who can use it?
The decisive date is October 14, 2026
Reliance Industries’ filing defines eligible public equity shareholders by their holding on October 14, 2026, the date Jio Platforms filed its RHP. The definition covers qualifying public individuals and Hindu Undivided Families, subject to exclusions set out in the RHP. The filing-date test means a purchase of Reliance Industries shares after October 14 does not automatically create eligibility.
The reservation is a separate allocation pool
The filing describes a reservation of up to ₹2,500 crore for eligible public Reliance Industries shareholders. That amount is a ceiling for the reserved category, not an assurance that every qualifying shareholder receives shares or that the maximum will be used. The RHP controls the exact record-position evidence, application category, quantity limits and allocation formula.

- Check the latest RHP’s definition and exclusions against your holding status on October 14, 2026.
- Use the shareholder-reservation category shown by your intermediary, rather than the ordinary retail category, if the RHP requires that selection.
- Enter the demat and application details exactly as held in the records used to establish eligibility.
- Keep any shareholder identification or supporting information requested by the intermediary or registrar.
- Submit and authorize the application through UPI or ASBA within the same October 21–23 public window, subject to the category’s stated limits.
If your status is unclear, ask the registrar or intermediary how the RHP’s definition is applied before submitting. Do not assume that holding shares through an excluded account type, nominee arrangement or non-qualifying category satisfies the reservation test.

Retail applications, categories and limits
The ordinary retail category and the shareholder-reservation category are not interchangeable. They can have different eligibility tests, allocation pools and application limits. Select only the category for which you meet the RHP’s conditions.
- Retail UPI ceiling: SEBI states that retail UPI applications are limited to ₹5 lakh per transaction.
- Price and lot: The minimum and maximum quantities depend on the final price band and bid lot in the RHP; neither is established by the DRHP announcement alone.
- Category evidence: A shareholder reservation requires the qualifying position and any exclusions described in the RHP, not merely a claim entered in the application screen.
- Employee pool: Up to ₹500 crore is described for eligible employees, subject to the RHP definitions. Employment alone is not enough if the final document sets additional conditions.
What happens after you submit?
During the mandate and blocking stage
For UPI, the bank first validates the request and blocks the specified amount. For ASBA, the bank places the block through its ASBA process. Until the issue’s allotment process is completed, a block reduces the funds available in your account but is not a completed share purchase.
Allotment
The registrar and exchange publish the allotment outcome through their official issue-status channels. Check using the application details retained from your broker, bank or intermediary. Allocation is governed by the category rules and demand; an accepted application does not guarantee that all requested shares will be allotted.

The amount corresponding to the allotted shares is debited, and the shares are credited electronically to the demat account supplied in the application. Verify the credit in the demat account before treating the position as available for trading.
Best Value
If no shares are allotted, or only part is allotted
SEBI’s process releases the excess blocked amount. In a partial allotment, only the amount for the allotted shares is debited and the remainder is unblocked. The timing can depend on the bank, intermediary and registrar’s processing; keep the mandate or ASBA reference until the release is visible in your account.
Troubleshooting common application failures
The UPI mandate never appears
- Confirm that the UPI ID was entered correctly and belongs to the same investor and bank account.
- Check the bank app’s pending-mandate area rather than relying only on a broker notification.
- Contact the intermediary or bank before the stated cut-off; an unapproved request is not a completed application.
The mandate is rejected or expires
Review the available balance, UPI limits and bank alerts. Do not create a third-party mandate to work around a rejection. If the intermediary permits a fresh application before the window closes, follow its instructions and retain the new reference number.
The application shows submitted but no block is visible
Compare the application reference with the UPI or ASBA acknowledgment. A submission screen can precede bank validation. Ask the intermediary to confirm whether the request reached the bank and whether a corrected submission is possible before closing time.
The wrong category or quantity was selected
Use the intermediary’s permitted modification or cancellation procedure, if available under the current issue rules, and resubmit only within the announced window. The RHP and platform terms—not a general assumption about IPOs—determine whether a change is allowed.
The allotment is shown but the demat credit is missing
Check the demat account number on the application acknowledgment and contact the registrar or depository participant with the application and allotment references. Do not submit a second application merely because the credit is not yet visible.
A practical checklist for October 21–23
- Demat account active with a SEBI-registered intermediary.
- Own UPI ID and matching bank account, or a working ASBA facility.
- Latest RHP and price-band notice reviewed.
- Final bid lot, price band, category limits and cut-off time recorded.
- Funds available for the proposed application.
- Reliance Industries holding checked against the October 14, 2026 shareholder-eligibility date, if using that category.
- Application number, UPI mandate reference or ASBA acknowledgment saved.
- Allotment status and demat credit checked after the issue’s announced processing dates.
What is still not known from the announced terms
The public announcements summarized for this guide do not establish the final price band, minimum bid lot, allotment date or listing date. They also do not replace the RHP’s detailed definitions for shareholder and employee reservations. Those items can affect how much money is blocked, which category you can select and when shares or refunds appear. Check the latest RHP, price-band notice and exchange issue page immediately before applying instead of relying on an earlier article or the DRHP announcement.
