You can buy The Lakshmi Mills Company Limited equity through a SEBI-registered Indian stockbroker that supports BSE cash-equity trading. Search for the security on the BSE segment and verify scrip code 502958 or ISIN INE938C01019 before placing an order. The company’s filings state that its shares trade on BSE and that no trading is undertaken on NSE. You need three linked facilities: a bank account, a trading account with the broker and a demat account held through an NSDL or CDSL depository participant (DP).

What you are buying and where it trades

The security is the equity of The Lakshmi Mills Company Limited. Its identifiers are:

Identifier Value How to use it
BSE scrip code 502958 Use this code when searching the broker’s BSE equity list.
ISIN INE938C01019 Use this 12-character identifier to confirm the exact security and later to reconcile demat holdings.
NSE symbol NOTLISTED in the company’s 31 December 2025 shareholding-pattern filing Do not submit an NSE order for this security.

The company’s BSE filing says, “The Company’s Shares are traded in Bombay Stock Exchange – BSE Ltd. No trading is undertaken in the National Stock Exchange.” The 31 December 2025 filing repeats BSE code 502958 and ISIN INE938C01019 and reports the NSE symbol as NOTLISTED. A third-party quote page can display an NSE field, but the exchange and company filings are the controlling references. Confirm the BSE code or ISIN in your broker’s live order screen immediately before buying.

This is a listed equity security, so the price, available quantity and spread can change while you are viewing the quote. A listing confirmation does not tell you what price you will receive or whether your entire order will fill.

Accounts and documents you need

SEBI’s investor guidance requires an investor to have a demat account with a depository participant, a trading account with a SEBI-registered broker and a bank account for securities transactions. NSE describes the trading account as the bridge between the demat and bank accounts and states that an investor cannot buy or sell directly on an exchange.

Facility Purpose in this purchase What to confirm
Bank account Supplies funds for the purchase and receives permitted withdrawals or corporate-action proceeds. The name and basic details should match your KYC information and the broker’s supported banking method.
Trading account Sends your buy order to BSE through the broker and records orders, trades and charges. The broker is currently SEBI-registered and has active BSE equity access.
Demat account Holds the purchased shares electronically after settlement. The account is maintained through an NSDL or CDSL DP and is linked to the trading account.

Account opening normally requires PAN, identity and address documents, together with the broker’s KYC declarations and verification steps. Exact document formats, e-sign methods and acceptance rules can change, so follow the current instructions shown by the broker and do not email documents to an unverified contact.

Before you place an order

  • Choose a broker that is currently SEBI-registered and explicitly supports BSE cash-equity orders.
  • Read the broker’s current brokerage, exchange, statutory and account-maintenance charges. No universal minimum balance or fee applies across all intermediaries.
  • Confirm that the trading account is linked to the intended bank and demat accounts.
  • Decide how much capital you are prepared to commit, including the charges displayed at order review.
  • Keep your registered mobile device, email and two-factor authentication available for login and transaction approvals.
  • Use the exact security identifier rather than selecting a similarly named Lakshmi company.

Step-by-step: buying Lakshmi Mills shares

1. Select a regulated intermediary

Start with a broker that is registered with SEBI and offers BSE equity trading. Check the registration details and fee schedule on the broker’s current official disclosures before opening an account. Registration alone does not guarantee a particular platform’s uptime, execution quality or support response; those are separate criteria to evaluate.

2. Open and link the accounts

Complete the broker’s KYC process and open the trading account. Link it to your bank account and to a demat account held with an NSDL or CDSL DP. Review the account-opening confirmation to ensure that your name, PAN, bank details and DP or client identifiers are correct. A mismatch can delay delivery or require a correction before trading.

3. Add funds

Transfer only the amount you intend to use through a banking method supported by the broker. Check the available balance in the trading account, not merely the balance in your bank account. Keep a margin for the charges shown at order review. Do not infer a current minimum deposit, settlement credit or instant-withdrawal entitlement; these depend on the intermediary and applicable rules.

Rank #2

4. Find the exact BSE security

Open the broker’s equity-search or order-entry screen and select the BSE exchange. Search for 502958 and verify that the displayed ISIN is INE938C01019. Check the company name and security type as well. If the result is shown only under NSE, stop and contact the broker rather than assuming the listing is interchangeable.

5. Inspect the live quote

Immediately before ordering, review the displayed last traded price, best available bids and offers, quantity at each price level, market status, trading hours and any broker warning. These fields are live. A thin order book can produce a wide bid-ask spread or partial fills, so the last traded price is not necessarily the price at which your order can be completed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

6. Choose an order type

Select Buy, enter the number of shares and choose the order type offered by the broker.

  • Limit order: You specify the maximum price you will pay. The order executes only at that price or a lower eligible price, and it may remain unfilled if sellers do not meet it.
  • Market order: You ask the system to seek execution at prices currently available in the order book. In a less liquid security, successive portions can execute at different prices, and the final consideration may be higher than the first quote you saw.

Also check any validity choice, such as day validity, and whether the broker offers disclosed controls for disclosed quantity, stop conditions or after-market orders. Use only controls you understand; a more complicated ticket does not make execution safer.

7. Review and submit

Before confirming, recheck the exchange (BSE), scrip code 502958, ISIN INE938C01019, quantity, order type, limit price if applicable and order validity. The review page should show estimated consideration, brokerage and statutory or exchange-related charges applicable to your account. Submit only after these details match your intention and complete the broker’s authentication step.

8. Monitor execution and settlement

Use the order book to see whether the order is pending, partially executed, rejected or complete. A trade confirmation or contract note records the executed quantity, price and charges; an order acknowledgement alone does not prove a trade. After exchange settlement, the shares should be credited to the linked demat account. The exact settlement timing and the time at which the holding appears depend on current exchange rules, the broker and the depository. If the order fills but the shares do not appear within the broker’s stated settlement window, raise a written service request with the broker and retain the trade details.

9. Keep the records

Download and retain the contract note, ledger, order and trade confirmations, demat statement and tax statements supplied by the broker. These records let you reconcile the number of shares and acquisition cost and support any future complaint, transfer or tax filing. Never share one-time passwords, trading passwords or demat authorisation codes with another person.

Why the BSE-versus-NSE check matters

Many Indian broker interfaces list the same company name in multiple search results or display data supplied by third parties. For Lakshmi Mills, the company-controlled records identify BSE as the trading venue and report the NSE symbol as NOTLISTED. The exchange selected on the ticket is therefore a critical pre-submission check.

  1. Choose the BSE segment, not an NSE segment.
  2. Match the scrip code 502958.
  3. Match the ISIN INE938C01019 where the platform displays it.
  4. Confirm that the company name and equity type are consistent.
  5. If any field conflicts, cancel the order and ask the broker to confirm the correct instrument.

Do not assume that an NSE symbol appearing on a data page means an executable NSE listing. For this security, rely on the exchange and company filings and on the instrument shown in your broker’s live order ticket.

How to assess a broker without relying on a brand name

You do not need a special demat account for Lakshmi Mills. Any DP and broker combination that meets the regulatory and BSE-access requirements can be suitable. Compare the following before committing funds:

Comparison point Questions to ask Evidence to check
BSE cash-equity access Can the account place and modify BSE delivery-equity orders for code 502958? The broker’s current product list and a test of the authenticated search screen.
Regulatory status Is the intermediary currently registered with SEBI for the services offered? Current registration disclosures and SEBI records.
Account structure Are trading, bank and demat accounts linked under the correct holder name? Account-opening and DP confirmation documents.
Charges What brokerage, exchange, statutory, depository and account-maintenance charges apply? The current tariff sheet and the order-review estimate.
Order controls Does the platform show market depth, limit orders, order validity and clear rejection messages? The live order ticket and help documentation.
Reliability How are outages, rejected orders and partially filled orders communicated? Status notices, support channels and the broker’s escalation process.
Records and support Can you download contract notes, ledgers and demat statements and reach support? Sample document views and current support commitments.
Security Are two-factor authentication, device alerts and transaction authorisations available? Security settings and account alerts enabled before funding.

Brokerage, liquidity, settlement dates and displayed charges are not fixed facts about the share. Check them at publication and again immediately before a trade.

Understanding the money involved

Your total debit is not simply the displayed share price multiplied by quantity. The broker’s confirmation normally combines the executed consideration with brokerage and applicable statutory, exchange and depository charges. The exact amount depends on the intermediary, order and account configuration. Because no current tariff or tax amount is universal, use the live estimate on your order-review screen and retain the contract note as the authoritative record for that transaction.

The share price itself can move between quote, submission and execution. A limit order controls the maximum purchase price for the eligible quantity, but it can remain unfilled. A market order prioritises execution against available offers, but it does not promise one price for the complete quantity. In a sparse order book, splitting a large order or using a limit price can reduce unexpected price movement, although neither approach guarantees a fill.

If you already hold physical Lakshmi Mills certificates

Buying a new lot through an exchange is normally settled directly into dematerialised form. It is a different process from converting old paper certificates. The company’s annual-report information identifies MUFG Intime India Pvt. Ltd. as its registrar and share-transfer agent and says dematerialisation and rematerialisation requests are made to the investor’s DP.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For old certificates, contact your DP for the current dematerialisation form and document checklist. The DP verifies the certificate and account details and forwards the request through the applicable depository process. Contact the registrar for investor-servicing questions that the DP cannot resolve, but do not send a paper certificate to an unverified address.

Common problems and fixes

The search shows an NSE result

Stop before ordering. Switch the exchange filter to BSE and search 502958. Match ISIN INE938C01019. If the broker cannot display a BSE instrument, ask whether BSE cash-equity access is enabled for your account.

The order is rejected

Read the exact rejection reason in the order book. Common account-level causes include incomplete KYC, insufficient available funds, a disabled segment, an invalid price or quantity, or a market-status restriction. Correct only the stated issue; do not repeatedly resubmit an order without understanding the rejection.

The order is pending or only partly filled

A pending limit order may simply be outside the available offer prices. A partial fill means only part of the requested quantity traded. Check the remaining quantity and validity before modifying or cancelling it. Any replacement order should be reviewed from the beginning, including exchange, code, price and charges.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The shares are not visible in demat

First confirm that the trade is executed rather than merely accepted. Compare the contract note with the demat statement and wait through the broker’s stated settlement window. If the credit is still missing, provide the broker with the trade number, ISIN, quantity and settlement details and request escalation.

The quote looks very different from another website

Compare exchange, timestamp, currency, last-trade field and bid-ask data. Third-party pages can be delayed or map instruments incorrectly. For the order decision, use the BSE quote and instrument details shown in the authenticated broker screen.

Complaints and investor support

Start with the broker’s documented complaint channel and keep the ticket number, contract note and screenshots of the relevant order status. If the issue concerns exchange trading, follow the broker’s escalation route to the applicable exchange process. SEBI investor-support channels can be used when the intermediary’s process does not resolve the matter. Keep communication factual and include the exact ISIN, order number, dates, quantity and requested remedy.

A final pre-submit checklist

  • SEBI-registered broker selected.
  • Trading, bank and demat accounts opened, linked and KYC-complete.
  • Funds available in the trading account.
  • Exchange set to BSE.
  • Code 502958 and ISIN INE938C01019 matched.
  • Live price, spread, market status and available quantity reviewed.
  • Market or limit order chosen deliberately.
  • Quantity, price, validity and estimated charges checked.
  • Order confirmation and authentication completed.
  • Order book, contract note and eventual demat credit monitored.
