To buy The India Cements Limited equity, use a SEBI-registered broker, search for NSE symbol INDIACEM (BSE scrip code 530005; ISIN INE383A01012), choose the equity/cash segment, select Buy and Limit, enter your maximum price and quantity, check the funds and charges, then submit. A 2026 NSE quote snapshot showed INDIACEM listed and active with a ₹0.05 tick size. That snapshot is not a current price: price, bid, offer, trading status and available quantity change continuously. Recheck the live quote on your broker or the exchange before placing an order. The company’s 2026 annual filing identifies it as a subsidiary of UltraTech Cement Limited; that corporate fact does not by itself indicate whether the share suits your objectives.

Accounts and permissions you need
Bank account
Your bank account supplies money for the purchase and receives withdrawals. The broker’s permitted funding method may require a bank account in your own name. Confirm the pay-in cut-off and whether funds become available immediately or after the payment is verified.
Trading account
A trading account sends orders to the exchange and receives execution information. The National Stock Exchange describes it as “a bridge between your Demat and bank account.” You place the order through the broker’s authenticated website or app; the broker routes it to the exchange under your client account.
Demat account
The demat account holds the shares electronically after settlement. It is maintained through a depository participant (DP) connected to a recognised depository. SEBI says investors should use registered intermediaries and review account-opening documents, statements and charges. A demat account does not require a minimum balance, according to SEBI’s Investor Charter.

Before trading, complete the broker and DP’s identity, address and bank verification. Use an intermediary that is registered with SEBI and the relevant stock exchange. Read the tariff sheet, risk disclosures, authorisations and order-validity descriptions rather than assuming that another broker’s fees or features apply to your account.
Open, connect and fund the accounts
- Choose a regulated intermediary. Check the broker’s current SEBI registration details, exchange memberships, DP relationship, grievance process and published charges.
- Complete KYC. Provide the requested identity, address, tax and bank information, and finish any in-person or electronic verification required for your jurisdiction.
- Open the linked accounts. Ensure the trading account and demat account are connected to the bank account from which you will pay.
- Secure access. Set a unique password, enable available two-factor authentication and keep your trading and demat credentials private. Never approve an unfamiliar authorisation request.
- Transfer funds using an approved method. Add enough for the order value plus brokerage, exchange charges, taxes, levies and any applicable DP or other fees. A limit order’s value is quantity multiplied by the limit price, but the final debit includes applicable charges.
- Read the order-validity choices. Brokers commonly show a day validity and may offer immediate-or-cancel or other instructions. Availability and names differ by platform; select only an option you understand.
Do not place an order until the platform shows the required buying power as available. A displayed bank balance is not necessarily the same as funds released for trading, particularly when another order has already blocked money.

Checks to make immediately before ordering
- Confirm the company name is The India Cements Limited and cross-check INDIACEM, BSE code 530005 or ISIN INE383A01012 where the platform displays it.
- Read the live last-traded price, best bid, best offer, market status and quantity available. Do not rely on an old quote, search result or screenshot.
- Check whether you are in the equity/cash segment rather than a derivatives, margin or unrelated product screen.

Choose Buy and the broker’s delivery or cash-equity product if you intend to receive shares in your demat account. Product labels vary, so read the platform’s explanation of delivery, intraday, margin or other choices. This guide does not determine whether leverage or a particular product is suitable for you.
4. Choose Limit, not Market
Select Limit as the order type. Enter the number of shares and your maximum price per share. A buy limit at ₹X tells the exchange that you will pay no more than ₹X per share; it does not guarantee that you will buy at ₹X or that the order will trade.
5. Select validity
Choose the validity that matches your intention. A day order normally remains active for that trading session. An immediate-or-cancel instruction seeks an immediate match and cancels any unfilled quantity, where offered. Other validity types may have separate rules and eligibility. Read the platform’s current description before selecting one.

6. Review and submit
Check the symbol, exchange, buy direction, quantity, limit price, product, validity, estimated funds and charges. Submit using the platform’s confirmation control and complete any required order PIN or two-factor approval. Save the order number.
7. Monitor the order status
Open the order book. The status can show open, partially filled, completely filled, cancelled, rejected or expired. Do not submit a second order merely because the first one has not filled; first determine whether the original is still active and whether its quantity has been reserved.
What happens after you submit a limit order
NSE describes the equity market as an automated, order-driven system. Orders are matched when compatible price and quantity are available. For a buy limit order, sell orders priced at your limit or lower can match, subject to the exchange’s priority rules. A lower-priced eligible sell order can therefore execute first, while an order may wait if no seller is available at or below your price.

Execution priority can depend on price and the time the order entered the book. Changing a price or cancelling and recreating an order can alter its position. A limit order controls price, not certainty of execution.
Why an INDIACEM limit order may not execute
Your limit is below available selling prices
If the lowest available offer is above your maximum, no trade can occur without a seller reducing the price. Raising the limit may improve the chance of execution, but it also raises the maximum you could pay. Never increase it merely to force a fill.

There is insufficient quantity
A seller may offer fewer shares than you requested. The exchange can fill that portion and leave the remainder open. The order book may change before the remaining quantity is matched.
The market is closed or the security is not accepting orders
Outside the applicable trading session, during a halt or when the security’s status changes, the broker may queue, reject or cancel an order according to current rules. Check the live market-status indicator and the broker’s session policy.
Your order validity ended
A day order does not carry over automatically to the next session. An immediate-or-cancel order cancels quantity that cannot be matched immediately. Read the status and validity field instead of assuming that an unfilled order is still active.
Funds or quantity are unavailable
The broker can reject an order when available buying power is insufficient after charges, when funds are blocked by another order, or when the quantity exceeds account or exchange limits. Deposit only through the approved method and recheck the available balance shown for trading.
The order failed a validation rule
Common validation issues include an invalid tick increment, a price outside permitted bands, an unavailable product, incomplete KYC or a temporary exchange or broker restriction. The 2026 NSE snapshot showed a ₹0.05 tick size for INDIACEM; use the increment currently accepted by the platform, because market specifications and controls must be checked live.

The order was cancelled or modified
A cancellation request may remove an open quantity, while a modification can replace the original parameters. Confirm the final status and order number. If only part filled, cancellation normally affects the remaining quantity, not shares already executed.

- Read the fill details. Record executed quantity, execution prices, average price, exchange and time. A partially filled order has separate fills and a remaining quantity.
- Download the contract note. Keep the broker’s contract note, which itemises the trade and applicable charges. Retain the payment or funds-transfer record as well.
- Check the trading ledger. Confirm the debit for the purchase and charges, and investigate any unexpected entry with the broker promptly.
- Verify the demat credit. After the applicable settlement process, check the demat statement for The India Cements Limited and ISIN INE383A01012. Timing can vary with exchange, broker, depository and holidays.
- Reconcile regularly. Compare broker statements, depository statements and your own records. Report an unauthorised transaction or mismatch through the broker and DP’s official grievance channels.

Limit price versus final cost
Your limit is the maximum price per share for the order. The cash required is not simply the displayed share price multiplied by quantity: the broker may add brokerage, exchange transaction charges, securities transaction tax, goods and services tax, stamp duty, regulatory levies and other applicable items. The exact amount depends on the broker, exchange route, transaction type and current rules.

Tick-size entry
A tick size is the smallest permitted price increment. The cited 2026 NSE snapshot showed ₹0.05 for INDIACEM. If your entered price uses an impermissible fraction, the platform may round it or reject the order; check what the live order ticket accepts and verify the resulting value before submitting.
Fees that can occur after the trade
Review the current tariff sheet for account-opening or maintenance fees, brokerage, transaction charges, taxes, DP charges on debits, payment-related fees and any optional service costs. A demat account has no SEBI-required minimum balance, but that does not mean every provider’s service is free.

- Deal with a SEBI-registered broker and depository participant, and verify registration using current official records.

These controls protect the transaction process; they do not remove market risk, liquidity risk or the possibility that the share price falls after purchase.
Illustrative limit-order example
Suppose you enter a hypothetical buy order for 100 INDIACEM shares with a ₹240 limit. The maximum share-price component is ₹24,000, before applicable charges. If 40 shares are offered at ₹239.95, those 40 may execute at that price; the remaining 60 can stay open if the order’s validity allows. If later offers appear at ₹240.00, the balance may match, subject to priority and availability. If no eligible offers appear before a day order expires, no further shares are bought.
