Do not place an order for “42WN.L” from the ticker alone. The available reference material associates 42WN.L with the secondary label “ARAB CEMENT/HSBC 15” and the London Stock Exchange (LSE), but it does not authenticate the legal security, issuer, ISIN, instrument type, currency, maturity, payoff or current trading status. Treat the code as a search key, not proof that you are looking at an ordinary Arab Cement share.
Start with the LSE’s official search, then match its record to the issuer or arranger’s final-terms document. Once the legal name, ISIN, terms and status agree, give that verified information to a UK broker and ask whether it can accept the order, what minimum size and dealing channel apply, and how settlement and custody work.
What 42WN.L identifies—and what it does not
The LSE describes a code as “a short, unique code used to identify UK-listed securities/instruments.” Its price-and-markets search accepts a company or security name, a code or an ISIN. That means 42WN.L is an identifier to investigate; it is not, by itself, a description of the investment or evidence that the security is a share.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsA secondary reference labels 42WN.L “ARAB CEMENT/HSBC 15” and associates it with the LSE. That wording is not an authenticated prospectus description. It could be compatible with an HSBC-linked equity-linked note whose underlying reference is an Arab Cement entity, but that is only a hypothesis until an official instrument record and final terms confirm it. “Arab Cement” could be an underlying asset rather than the issuer, while “HSBC 15” could be a series or product label.

The practical consequence is important: a broker may classify the instrument as a note, certificate, warrant or another structured security rather than as an ordinary equity. The trading, risk, tax and custody treatment can differ substantially from buying a listed company share.
Use the LSE’s official price-and-markets search as the starting point. Do not rely on a search-snippet label, a data-vendor abbreviation or a social-media description as the legal identity.
Information you must confirm before asking for a quote

| Field | What to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Legal name | The complete issuer and security name, including any series designation | Prevents an order being attached to a similarly labelled instrument |
| Instrument type | Share, bond, note, certificate, warrant or another security | Determines the payoff, risks, dealing method and custody treatment |
| ISIN | The international securities identification number | Provides a more precise instruction than a short exchange code |
| Issuer and arranger | The legal entity responsible for issuing or arranging the instrument | Issuer credit exposure is separate from the performance of an underlying asset |
| Underlying reference | The exact Arab Cement entity or other reference asset, if any | “Arab Cement” alone may not identify a single legal company or market |
| Currency | Trading, settlement and any underlying or redemption currency | Currency conversion can change the sterling result and the quoted price |
| Maturity and status | Maturity date, redemption status, suspension or delisting status | An instrument that has matured or been redeemed is not an ordinary live purchase |
| Payoff terms | Coupons, participation, barriers, conversion or redemption formula | The headline label does not explain how money is actually returned |
| Settlement method | Cash or physical settlement, settlement cycle and custody arrangements | Determines what you receive and how the broker holds it |
Six-step verification process
- Search the official LSE record. Open the LSE price-and-markets search and enter
42WN.L. If necessary, repeat the search using the displayed name and any ISIN you find. - Copy the complete exchange details. Record the legal name, instrument type, ISIN, trading currency, market segment and current status. Save the page or export the details in a way that preserves the date you checked.
- Locate the issuer or arranger’s final terms. Search for a document that uses the same legal name and ISIN. A generic product page or a reference to an underlying share is not enough. The final terms should identify the security’s contractual features.
- Reconcile the documents. Match the ISIN and legal name character for character. Then read the maturity, valuation dates, coupon or participation provisions, barriers, fees and settlement method. If the documents identify a different issuer, series or underlying entity, stop and resolve the discrepancy.
- Check whether it is still tradable. Determine whether the listing is active, suspended, matured, redeemed or delisted. A historical LSE code can remain in databases after the economic life of a product has ended.
- Give the verified identity to a UK broker. Quote the ISIN and full legal name, not just “42WN.L”. Ask whether the broker accepts orders for that exact instrument, what minimum size applies, which dealing channel is available, and how settlement and custody are handled.
How to read the final-terms document
Maturity, valuation and redemption
Find the scheduled maturity date and every valuation or observation date. A structured instrument may have an early-redemption condition, an automatic termination event or a final cash payment that is unrelated to the last quoted price of an underlying share. Confirm what event ends the instrument and whether the current record says it has already matured or been redeemed.

Coupons and participation
Do not infer a yield from the “HSBC 15” label. The document must state whether any coupon is fixed, conditional, contingent, paid at maturity or subject to missed-payment rules. Participation in an underlying asset may be capped, leveraged, conditional or absent altogether.
Barriers and loss conditions
Look for barrier levels, knock-in or knock-out events, protection conditions and the formula used if the underlying falls. A product can reference an equity while exposing you to a defined formula rather than to one-for-one share ownership.
Fees and settlement
Identify issue costs, redemption charges, dealing or transfer fees and any costs embedded in the price. Confirm whether settlement is cash or physical, the settlement currency and whether the broker can hold the security in the account type you intend to use.
Finding a UK broker that can deal in the verified instrument
The LSE provides a Find a Broker tool. It is a directory aid, not confirmation that a particular broker currently supports 42WN.L. No searched source establishes that any named broker accepts orders for this code.
Contact candidate brokers only after you have the ISIN and legal name. Ask the dealing desk to check that exact identifier in its security master, rather than searching by a shortened description. If the instrument is structured, the broker may route the request to a specialist desk or require telephone dealing instead of an online order ticket.
| Question to ask | What a clear answer should specify |
|---|---|
| Can you accept an order for this ISIN? | Yes or no for the exact security, with any account or client restrictions |
| What is the minimum trade size? | Minimum nominal amount, number of units and any increments |
| How is the order placed? | Online, telephone, email instruction or quote-request process |
| Is a live quote available? | Bid, offer, quote validity period and whether the market is currently open |
| What charges apply? | Dealing fee, platform or custody charge, transfer cost and any other listed fee |
| Which currency will settle? | Trade currency, conversion method and foreign-exchange charge |
| How will the security be held? | Custody location, account eligibility and statements or corporate-action handling |
| What happens if it is suspended or matures? | How the broker communicates restrictions, redemption proceeds or residual holdings |
Costs to compare before submitting an order
A displayed price is not the total cost of buying. Request a written or on-screen quote that shows the price, validity period and every charge that applies to your account.
- Bid-offer spread: The difference between the price at which you can sell and the price at which you can buy. A wide spread can overwhelm a small expected return.
- Dealing fee: A fixed or percentage charge for placing the order. Ask whether telephone dealing costs more than online dealing.
- Foreign-exchange cost: If the instrument trades or settles in a currency other than pounds sterling, ask for the conversion rate and the broker’s margin.
- Platform and custody charges: Some accounts apply recurring fees or a charge for holding a non-standard security. Obtain the amount and frequency.
- Minimum size and increments: Structured products can trade in nominal amounts that are larger than one share. Confirm the smallest order and permitted increments.
- Settlement and transfer costs: Ask whether the broker can settle and custody the security directly and whether a later transfer or redemption carries a fee.
Is 42WN.L a normal Arab Cement share?
That has not been established. The accessible reference does not authenticate an Arab Cement ordinary-share listing under 42WN.L, and it does not provide a verified ISIN or legal issuer. The presence of “Arab Cement” in a label is therefore insufficient to conclude that you would own voting stock, receive dividends or participate directly in the company’s share-price movements.
An ordinary share record normally identifies the company as issuer and states the share class, currency and ISIN. A structured-security record instead identifies an issuer or arranger and describes an underlying reference, maturity and payoff formula. Use the LSE record and final terms to determine which description applies; do not substitute the performance or corporate details of an assumed Arab Cement share.

What is the ISIN for 42WN.L?
No verified ISIN is established in the available records. The correct procedure is to retrieve it from the LSE result for 42WN.L and then confirm that the same ISIN appears in the issuer or arranger’s final terms. If a data site supplies an ISIN that does not appear in both places, treat it as unconfirmed.
Is 42WN.L still trading?
The available material does not authenticate a current active status. Check the LSE record for an active, suspended, matured, redeemed or delisted indication on the date you intend to trade. Ask the broker to confirm that it can obtain a firm quote and settle the instrument now; a historical price or stale listing is not evidence of current liquidity.
Why no performance figure is provided
No verified annual-return series, since-inception return, yield, price history, trading volume or maturity figure for 42WN.L is established in the accessible sources. A separate reference explicitly notes that those figures should not be quoted without verification: performance-history guidance. Do not fill the gap with the record of an assumed Arab Cement share or with a return calculated from an unverified ticker match.

If the final terms identify a note, certificate, warrant or another structured product, assess these exposures separately:
Best Value
- Issuer credit risk: The issuer’s ability to pay can matter even when the underlying reference performs well.
- Underlying-asset risk: The payoff may depend on one Arab Cement entity, a basket, an index or a formula rather than on a share you own directly.
- Currency risk: Changes between the trading or settlement currency and sterling can affect your result.
- Maturity and reinvestment risk: Your money may be returned on a fixed date or earlier event, leaving you to reinvest under then-current conditions.
- Liquidity risk: A listed security can still have a wide spread, limited quotes or no willing buyer when you want to sell.
- Payoff risk: Barriers, caps, participation rates and conditional coupons can produce an outcome that is very different from the underlying asset’s percentage move.
- Settlement and custody risk: Non-standard instruments may require a particular settlement route or account capability.
- Information risk: A short label can conceal a different series, issuer or maturity. The legal documents are the controlling reference.
Troubleshooting common buying problems
The LSE search returns no result
Try the code without the suffix, the displayed security name and any candidate ISIN only as search terms. Do not treat a result from another website as confirmation. If the official record still cannot be found, you do not have enough verified identity information to place an order.
The name and ISIN do not match
Stop. Check for a series number, punctuation, issuer change or corporate-action update in the final terms. Ask the issuer or broker to explain the discrepancy in writing before proceeding.
The broker cannot find the ticker
Provide the full legal name and ISIN and ask for a manual security check. If the broker does not support the instrument or cannot explain its settlement route, do not place an order through a similarly named product.

Do not attempt to buy through an old order ticket. Ask the broker what, if anything, remains tradable and how redemption proceeds or residual holdings are handled.
Pre-order checklist
- Retrieve the 42WN.L record from the official LSE search.
- Write down the legal name, instrument type, ISIN, currency, market and status.
- Obtain the matching issuer or arranger final terms.
- Confirm issuer, underlying reference, maturity, valuation dates and payoff formula.
- Check coupons, barriers, caps, redemption conditions and settlement method.
- Ask a UK broker to confirm support for the exact ISIN.
- Confirm minimum order size, dealing channel and quote validity.
- Obtain the bid, offer, spread, dealing fee, FX cost and custody charges.
- Verify that the instrument is active and that the broker can settle and hold it.
- Keep copies of the exchange record, final terms and broker confirmation for your records.
When not to proceed
Walk away until the identity is resolved if you cannot obtain a matching ISIN, if the legal issuer is unclear, if the final terms are unavailable, if the status is not current, or if the broker cannot describe how the order would settle and be held. Those are identification and execution gaps, not minor paperwork issues.
The safest route to buying 42WN.L in the UK is therefore document-first: authenticate the LSE record, reconcile it to final terms, obtain a broker quote for the verified ISIN, and compare the complete execution and custody costs before deciding whether the instrument suits your objectives and risk tolerance.
