The most reliable way to win in Titanium Court is to plan High Tide and Low Tide as one decision. In High Tide, match tiles for the resources, terrain changes, and route control you will need next. In Low Tide, spend that stockpile first on keeping the court alive and covering the active approach, then add only the offense required to remove an immediate threat. Buy gatherers and optional upgrades after the position is stable enough for them to survive.

Titanium Court is a PC strategy game released on April 23, 2026, developed by AP Thompson and published by Fellow Traveller. Its loop combines tile matching with an autobattle: High Tide changes the grid and creates resources; Low Tide turns those resources into soldiers, gatherers, defenses, and other aids before the fight resolves automatically. Because the same grid is both your economy and your battlefield, a move that produces more resources can still be a mistake if it opens a route or removes the terrain protecting your court.

Understand the two-phase battle loop

Every encounter asks you to solve two connected problems. During High Tide, you manipulate the field. During Low Tide, you deploy what the field produced. The autobattle then tests whether those choices covered the threats visible on the board.

High Tide: create resources and shape the field

Tile matches generate the resource stockpile used in Low Tide. They also alter the battlefield: a match can remove or create useful terrain, clear an enemy base, open or close a route, and change the position of important amenities. The best move therefore has two outputs: an economic result and a spatial result.

Low Tide: convert the stockpile into a force

Low Tide is your preparation window. You decide which soldiers, defenses, gatherers, and offensive or defensive aids enter the next autobattle. Deployment is effectively final once combat begins, so each purchase should answer a problem you can point to on the current grid.

Autobattle: let the setup resolve

When the fight starts, your units act according to the setup you created. You cannot repair an uncovered route or replace a missing defense during the resolution. After a loss, diagnose the first failure rather than simply buying more of everything: the cause may have been insufficient damage, an exposed approach, weak protection, or an economy purchase that never had time to pay back.

Read the board before buying anything

At the start of an encounter, pause on the complete layout. Identify the enemy formation, the route or routes that can reach your court, the terrain separating you from danger, enemy bases and support threats, special amenities, and the victory condition. Then ask what must be true when the next autobattle begins.

  • Is the court exposed? If enemies can reach it quickly or from several directions, the first Low Tide purchase should normally be a defensive answer.
  • Which route is active? An open lane may require blocking terrain, a delay effect, or a unit positioned to intercept it.
  • What is the immediate loss condition? A boss, base, support unit, or unprotected flank can matter more than the largest available resource match.
  • Which terrain is doing useful work? Hills, water, and route geometry can slow, redirect, or expose enemies. Preserve protection until removing it is part of a deliberate plan.
  • What can wait? A gatherer or optional offensive tool has value only if the current defense survives long enough for that value to appear.

This creates a simple planning statement before your first swap: “Next Low Tide must secure the court, cover this approach, and answer that threat.” Match for the resource that pays for those purchases, not for a resource total in isolation.

Build by battlefield role, not by a fixed team recipe

There is no universally best composition. Encounters differ in boss behavior, route geometry, terrain, and victory condition, so build the smallest team that solves the board in front of you.

Role What it does When it comes first What to verify before buying
Defense Keeps the court and critical positions alive through the next resolution. Whenever the court or a key route is immediately threatened. Which attack it absorbs or prevents, and whether it covers the threatened tile or lane.
Route control Uses terrain, blocking, or delay effects to shape enemy movement and buy time. When an open approach would let enemies bypass your main force. Whether the effect actually intersects the enemy route and whether a terrain match will remove it.
Offense Removes a boss, enemy base, support threat, or other target that defense alone cannot solve. After survival is covered, or earlier when a specific enemy will otherwise decide the fight. Which target the damage must remove and whether the deployment can reach it in time.
Economy Generates resources for later cycles through gatherers and related investments. When the current position is stable and the next resolution is unlikely to kill the investment. How long the gatherer needs to return value and what protects it during that period.

Think in terms of a role sequence: survival, route control, necessary offense, then economy. A team with several gatherers but no answer to the active route is not an economic build; it is an unresolved loss.

  1. Set a Low Tide objective. Decide whether the next preparation must hold the court, close a route, remove a support threat, or create enough income for a longer fight.
  2. Locate the paying resource. Find the resource type needed for the first essential purchase. Preserve enough of it to complete that purchase instead of spending every possible tile on a different color or category.
  3. Inspect the post-match geometry. Trace enemy paths after the proposed match. Check whether water, hills, forests, or another barrier disappears; whether an enemy base is exposed; and whether your court gains or loses a buffer.
  4. Compare the immediate and delayed outcomes. A modest match that clears a blocking base or creates a safe route can be stronger than a larger match that produces more resources but removes your cover.
  5. Look for a controlled cascade. A follow-up match is valuable when it improves the same plan. Do not chase a cascade that consumes the resource or terrain you reserved for survival.
  6. Stop when the objective is met. Once you have the resources and geometry needed for the next Low Tide, extra matching can create unnecessary exposure.

Why the biggest match can be the wrong match

Large matches are attractive because they visibly increase the stockpile, but size is only one measure of value. A short match may preserve a critical resource, remove an enemy block, or trigger a useful cascade. Conversely, a large terrain match may erase the hill or water barrier that was keeping attackers away from the court. Evaluate the tile move by what it leaves behind, not just by what it gives you immediately.

Terrain is part of your defense budget

Hills, water, forests, and route shape determine how much time your units have and where enemies can arrive. Treat a protective terrain tile as a defensive asset. Matching it away is equivalent to spending that asset, even if the match produces a generous resource return. Remove it only when the opening is intentional—for example, to create a lane for your own offense or to eliminate an enemy position before it becomes dangerous.

Spend Low Tide in a survival-first order

Low Tide is where a good High Tide plan becomes a winning formation. Use the following order when the board is dangerous:

  1. Secure the court. Buy or place the defense that prevents the most immediate loss. Coverage matters more than a theoretical upgrade elsewhere on the map.
  2. Cover the active route. Add blocking, delay, terrain, or a unit that intercepts the approach enemies are actually using. Do not spend on a distant lane while the open route remains unaddressed.
  3. Add the minimum decisive offense. If a boss, base, or support threat must die before it acts again, buy the damage or offensive aid that reaches that target. “More damage” is not a plan unless it removes a specific threat.
  4. Invest surplus in economy. Purchase a gatherer only after the next resolution is likely to leave it alive. Its value is future income, so it is a poor substitute for a defense needed now.

If the board is already safe, reverse the emphasis after the essential checks: a gatherer may be your strongest purchase because it improves later options. If the board is unsafe, the same gatherer can fail before returning anything.

Perform a deployment check

  • Can every visible enemy route reach an unprotected court tile?
  • Does each defensive unit cover the attack you expect rather than an irrelevant edge?
  • Is the offensive unit aimed at the target that can actually end the encounter?
  • Will a terrain or blocking effect remain in place after the first enemy movement?
  • Is an economy unit protected for long enough to produce value?

Only start the autobattle after these questions have concrete answers. Deployment cannot be corrected once resolution begins.

Turn terrain and routes into time

Terrain does not merely decorate the grid. It changes the amount of time available for your offense and the number of attacks your defenses must absorb.

Use hills as deliberate buffers

A hill placed between an enemy and your court can force a longer approach or limit the angles of attack. When a hill is protecting an important position, avoid matching it simply because the match is convenient. In some encounters, surrounding a valuable area with hills can reduce incoming pressure; this is a spatial tactic, not a guaranteed counter, because enemy behavior and the exact layout vary.

Use water and forests to shape movement

Water and forests can make a route slower, narrower, or less direct. Preserve them when they buy time for a soldier or defense to act. If you remove one, know which new lane the enemy gains and whether your Low Tide purchases compensate for that opening.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Block the route that matters, not every route

Trying to seal every edge can consume resources without improving the actual fight. Identify the route that reaches the court fastest or carries the most dangerous enemy. Spend route-control effects there, then use offense to handle threats that emerge elsewhere.

Reposition the problem with spatial choices

Some boss layouts allow you to move an outpost or your court relative to the enemy so that hostile units spend more time traveling. Player discussions describe this as a way to waste enemy movement, but it is anecdotal advice rather than an official rule. Use it as an experiment: compare the travel distance, preserve a fallback defense, and do not sacrifice the victory condition merely to create a longer walk.

Adapt the team to bosses and victory conditions

Boss encounters are not solved by one permanent build. Choose an approach after reading the boss, route, terrain, and objective.

Offensive approach

Choose offense when the boss or a supporting threat will overwhelm you if it survives another cycle. Use High Tide to create the resource needed for damage and to open a safe line of attack. In Low Tide, protect the offensive unit long enough to reach the decisive target. Clearing a supporting base can be more valuable than attacking the boss directly if that base is supplying the pressure.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Defensive approach

Choose defense when terrain gives you time or the boss is difficult to reach safely. Preserve hills, water, and other buffers, then spend on coverage and route control. The purpose is not to avoid damage forever; it is to survive enough resolutions for the boss’s approach to become manageable or for your economy to fund a decisive response.

Economic approach

Choose economy only when the board can tolerate delayed power. Protect the gatherer, preserve the route geometry that keeps it safe, and avoid spending the same resources on optional attacks. Economic growth is strongest when each additional cycle gives you a larger set of answers; it is weakest when the gatherer dies before its first return.

Mixed approach

Many encounters call for a compact hybrid: one dependable defense, one route-control answer, and enough offense to remove the immediate support threat. Add economy later, once the hybrid has stabilized the board. This avoids the two common extremes of trying to turtle without a way to finish or investing in growth while the court is already exposed.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support on Ko-Fi

Three practical decision examples

An open route with a protected court

The court is behind a hill, but an unobstructed lane leads around it. A large resource match that removes the hill may produce enough currency for several units, yet it exposes the court from both sides. Prefer a smaller match that preserves the hill and funds route control. In Low Tide, keep the court defense, block the open lane, and buy only the offense needed to remove the first attacker.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A dangerous support base beside useful terrain

An enemy base is supplying pressure, while a nearby water tile is slowing the main approach. If a match can remove the base without touching the water, that is often a higher-value move than a larger resource match elsewhere. The base removal reduces future pressure; preserving the water keeps your defense from being overwhelmed during the next resolution.

A quiet board with room to grow

No enemy can reach the court before your next preparation, and your existing defense covers the visible lane. This is the correct moment for a gatherer. Use High Tide to secure its resource cost while preserving the terrain that protects it. In Low Tide, place the gatherer where the current route cannot immediately reach it, then reserve enough remaining resources to repair the formation if the next grid change opens a lane.

Diagnose losses instead of changing everything

After a failed autobattle, identify the first point at which the plan stopped working.

Observed failure Likely planning error Next adjustment
The court fell before your offense acted. Defense or route control was purchased too late, or protective terrain was removed. Reserve the survival resource in High Tide and secure the court before buying damage.
Enemies bypassed your main force. The team was built around the wrong lane. Trace the actual route and place the blocker or delay effect on that approach.
The boss survived and overwhelmed the board. Offense was spread across low-priority targets or lacked a decisive threshold. Identify the target that must die and concentrate the minimum damage required to remove it.
The gatherer produced nothing. Economy was purchased before the position was stable. Delay the gatherer until one full resolution can pass with credible protection.
You lacked the resource for a required purchase. High Tide chased the largest match or an attractive cascade instead of reserving the paying resource. Set the Low Tide objective first and stop matching once its cost is secured.
The opening looked strong but collapsed after terrain changed. The match improved the stockpile while damaging battlefield geometry. Evaluate the post-match route and preserve terrain that buys time.

This review process is more useful than copying a previous team. The same composition can win on a protected map and fail on an exposed one because the grid changed the value of every role.

Evidence and limits when evaluating strategy

Player advice consistently emphasizes field setup, and one Steam Community player summarized the idea as “getting a good field setup in High Tide really is the best way to win fights.” Treat that as practical player guidance, not a guaranteed rule. The game’s documented loop supports the broader conclusion that team choices and grid choices cannot be separated, but there is no authoritative published win-rate table, damage chart, or player-count study establishing a universal best build.

Use the role framework as a decision tool: read the encounter, preserve the terrain that buys time, fund the next essential purchase, and let economy follow survival. As the boss, route, and victory condition change, the winning team changes with them.
