To book a flight on Cleartrip, search with your route, dates, passengers and cabin, then compare the complete trip cost—not just the first fare shown. Check baggage, timings, layovers, fare rules, change and cancellation penalties, eligible discounts and add-ons before paying. The best fare is the option that gives you the lowest realistic total cost for the schedule and flexibility you actually need.
What “best fare” means on Cleartrip
The cheapest headline fare is not automatically the best deal. A basic ticket can become more expensive than a higher fare after you add a checked bag, seat, meal, insurance or a change fee. A long layover or an inconvenient arrival can also cost you time and money.
Evaluate each itinerary on three axes:
- Total trip cost: the fare, taxes, required baggage, seats, meals, insurance, convenience charges and any other selected extras after discounts.
- Schedule quality: departure and arrival times, total duration, number and length of layovers, airport changes and the risk of a tight connection.
- Flexibility and coverage: the fare’s change and cancellation conditions, refund method, deadline, insurance terms and any optional protection product.
Cleartrip advises comparing total payable price, baggage allowance, flight duration, layovers, departure and arrival times, cabin or class, and change and cancellation rules rather than selecting on price alone.
Have these details ready before you search

- One-way or round-trip travel, preferred dates and a range of nearby dates if your schedule is flexible.
- Number of adults, children and infants, with dates of birth where requested.
- Cabin preference: economy, premium economy, business or another class offered for the route.
- Each passenger’s name exactly as it appears on the passport or other travel document.
- Passport, visa or government-identification details required by the airline and route.
- Expected checked and cabin baggage for every traveler.
- A payment method that meets any bank-offer requirement.
Do not guess a passenger’s spelling or date of birth. Correcting an error after ticketing can be difficult, restricted by the airline or chargeable.
Step-by-step: book a flight on Cleartrip
1. Open Cleartrip Flights
Use Cleartrip’s flight booking area or app. Enter the origin, destination, travel dates, passenger count and cabin. Select One way or Round trip before searching. If you can travel on more than one date, note the dates you want to compare.
2. Search and inspect the results
Review the complete itinerary for every promising result. Look beyond the first displayed fare and note the operating airline, flight numbers, airports, connection points, total duration and arrival time. A lower price may involve an overnight or unusually long connection.
3. Compare the fare families for the same flight
Airlines often sell several fare families on one flight. Open the fare details for each family and compare what is included. A higher fare may include a checked bag or lower change penalty; a lower fare may charge separately for both.
4. Open fare rules and baggage details
Cleartrip’s flight FAQ says baggage limits are case-specific and should be checked in the booking-page fare rules. Confirm the cabin-bag and checked-bag allowance for each passenger, the permitted number of pieces, weight limits and whether an infant has a separate allowance. Treat the selected itinerary’s rules as authoritative because airline policies vary.
5. Check special fares
Look for student, senior-citizen, armed-forces or business fares when a passenger qualifies. Read the eligibility conditions and identification requirements before selecting one. The discount may apply only to a particular route, inventory or passenger category, and proof can be required at the airport.
6. Review optional extras separately
Seats, meals, additional baggage, travel insurance and flexibility products are generally optional. Add only what you need, and make sure each item appears as a separate line in the price breakdown. Do not assume an add-on is included in the base fare or refundable on the same terms as the ticket.

7. Apply a promotion or bank coupon
Enter the code and payment details requested by the offer. Check the minimum booking value, eligible card or payment method, travel and booking dates, route exclusions and maximum discount. Compare the final payable total after the promotion; a coupon that appears large in percentage terms can be limited by its cap.

8. Verify the review page
Before payment, read the complete summary: passenger names, flight numbers, airports, dates, times, cabin, baggage, fare family, add-ons, taxes, convenience charges, cancellation and change rules, and the refund preview. This is the point to remove an unwanted seat, insurance or other extra.
9. Enter passenger information exactly
Type each name and document detail as shown on the traveler’s passport or other required identification. Check title, date of birth, gender field where applicable and contact information. Use an email address and mobile number that you can access during the journey.
10. Pay and save the confirmation
Complete payment only after the total and rules are acceptable. Cleartrip says a successful payment triggers email and SMS confirmation, and the booking can be viewed in the app. Save the e-ticket, the Cleartrip Trip ID and the airline’s booking reference if one is shown.

Write down the final total for the two or three itineraries you are considering. Comparing totals on the same basis prevents a “cheap” fare with missing baggage or an essential seat from winning by default.
Finding a lower price without choosing a worse trip
Compare nearby dates
If your schedule permits, search a few days before and after your preferred date. Even a one-day shift can change inventory, fare family and connection options. Cleartrip’s guidance says domestic tickets are often best booked 3–6 weeks ahead and international tickets 6–10 weeks ahead. This is a planning heuristic, not a guarantee: live prices, holidays, route demand and remaining inventory can produce a different result.
Use the right passenger category
Cleartrip lists student fares that may include extra baggage or a discount, senior-citizen fares with savings of up to ₹600, armed-forces fares with savings of up to ₹600, and business fares with stated extra savings and selected inclusions. The exact benefit depends on eligibility, route and available inventory. Carry the required identification and verify the displayed total before payment.
Calculate a coupon’s real effect
Cleartrip’s Offers page currently lists these examples for 2026:

These offers are conditional on the named bank, code, payment method and live terms, so re-check them at checkout. For example, 12% of a ₹5,000 domestic booking is ₹600, while 12% of ₹20,000 would be ₹2,400 but is limited to the ₹1,500 cap. The displayed checkout total—not the advertising percentage—is the amount to use when comparing fares.

Include unavoidable extras
If you need a 20-kilogram checked bag, a particular seat or a meal, add that cost to every candidate itinerary before deciding. If you might change plans, compare the cost of the flexible fare with the expected change penalty on the cheapest fare. This simple “all-in” calculation often identifies a better value than the lowest base price.
Student, senior, armed-forces and business fares
Special fares can be worthwhile when the passenger is genuinely eligible, but they are not universal coupons. Before selecting one:
- Read who qualifies and whether age, enrollment, service status or another condition applies.
- Check whether the fare is available for your specific route, airline and travel date.
- Confirm the required identity card, certificate or other proof.
- Check baggage, refund and change rules separately; a discount does not imply flexible conditions.
- Compare the final special-fare total with the ordinary fare after all required add-ons.
If documentation cannot be produced when requested, the airline may deny the benefit or require a fare adjustment. Do not select a category solely because its displayed price is lower.

Freedom Fare
Cleartrip presents Freedom Fare for international flights. It says a booking with Freedom Fare can receive a full airfare refund when cancelled at least 24 hours before scheduled departure. Airline and Cleartrip fees, as well as the Freedom Fare premium, remain governed by the product’s terms. Read those terms on the selected itinerary to determine what is returned, how the refund is processed and what deadline applies.
Freedom Fare is most relevant when the chance of cancellation is meaningful and the premium is lower than the likely loss on a restrictive ticket. It is not a reason to skip the airline’s own fare rules.
Price Lock
Price Lock is a separate paid hold option. Cleartrip says its fee and expiry period vary by flight, booking, travel dates and passenger count. Consider it only when the hold cost is lower than the risk of a fare increase and the expiry gives you enough time to make a decision. Record the exact expiry time; a hold that expires before you can pay does not protect the fare.
What to check immediately before payment
Use this final review, preferably on the page that shows the refund preview:
- Passenger names match travel documents character for character.
- Origin and destination airports are correct, including terminals where shown.
- Travel dates, departure times and arrival dates account for overnight travel or time-zone changes.
- Every passenger’s cabin and checked-baggage allowance is recorded.
- The selected fare family and cabin/class are the ones you intended.
- Connection duration is realistic and any airport change is understood.
- Change deadline, airline penalty and refund conditions are clear.
- Cleartrip cancellation fee, convenience fee and any non-refundable add-on are visible.
- Any student, senior, armed-forces or business qualification can be documented.
- Coupon threshold, eligible payment method, cap and exclusions have been met.
- Optional seats, meals, baggage, insurance and flexibility products are intentional.
- The final amount matches your own calculation.
Take a screenshot or download the fare-rule and price-summary pages where possible. Rules can be difficult to reconstruct after the itinerary changes.

Cleartrip cancellation and change costs
Cleartrip’s Flight FAQs state that, in addition to the airline’s cancellation charges, Cleartrip charges a non-refundable cancellation fee of ₹400 per passenger per sector for domestic bookings and INR 1,000 per passenger per sector for international bookings. The figures are stated by Cleartrip for 2026. Airline penalties, fare class, route and the time of cancellation can add to those amounts.
“Per sector” means each flight segment covered by the cancellation, and “per passenger” means the fee can multiply when several travelers or sectors are involved. Always use the booking-page refund preview for the specific ticket rather than estimating from the base fare. A refund can also exclude non-refundable convenience fees, add-ons or a flexibility-product premium according to their terms.
How to decide whether to cancel or change
- Open the booking using the Cleartrip Trip ID or the account area.
- Read the displayed airline and Cleartrip charges for the proposed action.
- Compare the total penalty with the cost of a new ticket and any fare difference.
- Check the exact deadline; waiting can move the booking into a more expensive penalty window.
- Confirm the action only after the refund or additional-payment amount is acceptable.
For an international booking with Freedom Fare, check whether the cancellation is at least 24 hours before scheduled departure and review the product terms before proceeding.

When the confirmation email or SMS arrives, compare it with what you intended to buy:
- Trip ID and airline booking reference.
- Passenger names and traveler count.
- Flight numbers, dates, airports and connection points.
- Cabin, fare family and baggage for each passenger.
- Seats, meals, insurance, additional baggage and other paid extras.
- Amount charged and the payment receipt.
Keep the confirmation accessible offline for airport check-in. The Cleartrip app should also show the booking, but an offline copy is useful when connectivity is poor. If the payment was deducted but no ticket appears, do not immediately purchase a second ticket: check email, SMS, the app and your bank statement, then use the Trip ID or payment reference when contacting support.
Common booking mistakes and how to avoid them
Choosing the first low fare
Problem: The fare excludes baggage or has a costly change rule. Fix: compare the total after adding required services and read the fare rules before payment.
Ignoring airport and time-zone details
Problem: A “cheap” itinerary arrives at an inconvenient airport or on the next calendar day. Fix: check airport codes, terminals, local arrival date and ground-transport needs.

Assuming every coupon applies
Problem: The code fails because the booking is below the threshold, uses the wrong card or exceeds an exclusion. Fix: verify live terms and use the final discounted total for comparison.

Buying an ineligible special fare
Problem: The traveler cannot show the required proof. Fix: select the category only when the passenger meets its conditions and can carry the documentation.
Overlooking per-sector cancellation fees
Problem: The expected refund is higher than the actual refund because both airline and Cleartrip charges apply. Fix: read the refund preview for every passenger and sector before confirming cancellation.
Entering a name from memory
Problem: A spelling or order mismatch creates check-in or correction trouble. Fix: copy the name from the travel document and proofread before paying.

Traveler with checked baggage and fixed dates
Compare the cheapest fare plus the required bag with a fare that includes baggage. Choose the included-bag option if its all-in total is lower or if it removes a purchase you would otherwise have to make later. Since the dates are fixed, schedule quality and baggage value matter more than flexibility.
Traveler with uncertain plans
Compare the flexible fare or Freedom Fare premium with the cancellation and change costs of the restrictive fare. Check the deadline and what remains non-refundable. The higher upfront price can be rational when the probability of changing is substantial.
Traveler who can shift dates
Search nearby dates, compare the complete itineraries and then apply any eligible promotion. A modest date change can reduce the fare without requiring a worse connection, but keep the arrival time and baggage requirement constant when comparing.
Group booking
Check whether the displayed inventory and fare family covers every passenger. Record cancellation charges per passenger and per sector, and verify names one traveler at a time. A special category may apply to one person but not the whole group.
Decision checklist
Select the Cleartrip fare when you can answer “yes” to all of these questions:
- Do I know the final payable amount after necessary baggage and add-ons?
- Does the schedule work without an unacceptable layover or airport change?
- Have I read the selected fare’s baggage, change and cancellation rules?
- Is any special fare supported by valid identification?
- Does the promotion meet its threshold and payment conditions?
- Do I understand the cost and expiry of any Price Lock or the conditions of Freedom Fare?
- Are every passenger’s details ready to enter exactly as on the travel document?
Once those answers are clear, complete payment, save the confirmation and retain the Trip ID for any later support or cancellation request.
