Vashtorr the Arkifane is Boltgun 2’s final boss. The reliable way to win is to treat the elevator encounter as an objective fight before a damage race: enter with light and heavy ammunition full, destroy every healing pylon as soon as you can, keep circling the platform so Vashtorr and his thralls cannot pin you, and spend your strongest ammunition during safe openings. The launch documentation does not establish trustworthy health values, cooldowns, or frame-perfect phase timings, so any guide claiming exact numbers should be treated cautiously.
What the final Vashtorr fight is
The campaign’s documented boss order is Lord of Skulls, Keeper of Secrets, an initial Vashtorr encounter, Lord of Change, Vashtorr’s Gauntlet, and then Vashtorr again for the finale. The last confrontation takes place on a giant elevator. That setting matters: you have a limited circular space, enemies can crowd your route, and stopping to trade fire gives the boss time to pressure you.
The confirmed mechanic that determines the opening priority is the set of healing pylons around the arena. Vashtorr can recover while his thralls attack if those pylons remain active. Consequently, shooting Vashtorr immediately is usually the wrong first objective. Remove the structures sustaining him, preserve a route around the elevator, and then convert the ammunition you saved into boss damage.
Use “phase” below as an operational description of what you should be doing, not as a claim that the game exposes fixed, named phases with published timers. The launch guide states that specific Vashtorr mechanics were still being documented by the community. This distinction is important. The pylon-first order is a documented mechanic. Circling the elevator, clearing enough thralls to reopen a route, and using heavy weapons in a safe window are practical recommendations derived from that mechanic and the arena layout, not quoted boss scripting.
Prepare before the elevator starts
Fill both ammunition pools
Enter the confrontation with full ammunition across your light and heavy weapon types. The launch guide describes the arena as one designed to punish a player who runs out of options. That advice is more useful than trying to preserve a particular weapon for an encounter after the campaign: Vashtorr is the final fight, so ammunition carried beyond the elevator has no later boss battle to serve.
Check your reserves before triggering the encounter if the game gives you a safe staging area. A full light pool lets you remove or weaken thralls without wasting heavy shots. A full heavy pool gives you the burst needed to capitalize once a pylon is gone and Vashtorr is vulnerable to sustained damage. Do not interpret “full” as a requirement to fire every weapon immediately; it is insurance against a long arena sequence in which both target types matter.

Choose a resource plan, not a single favorite gun
Your plan should answer three questions before you step onto the elevator:
- Which weapon handles routine thralls while you reserve heavy ammunition for an opening?
- Which weapon can remove a pylon quickly when reaching it is safe?
- Which attack lets you keep moving instead of standing still to aim?
The available launch material does not publish a Vashtorr damage chart for any weapon. Treat weapon choice as a handling and resource decision rather than a claim that one gun has a verified multiplier against the boss.
Keep a mobility route in mind
Look at the elevator as a loop. Before committing to a shot, identify where you will move if a thrall blocks your current line or Vashtorr advances. The practical goal is not to remain at a fixed maximum distance; it is to retain enough room to circle the platform while still reaching the next pylon. If you spend all of your movement space fighting in one corner, the boss and thralls can turn a manageable encounter into a forced close-range exchange.

When Caedo fits
Caedo’s chainsword and shotgun support a plan that handles ordinary enemies at close range and leaves heavy ammunition available for pylons or Vashtorr. This can be efficient when you are comfortable moving through pressure rather than waiting for a clean, distant lane. The practical warning is spatial: do not let close-range attacks keep you stationary in a corner. Strike, reposition, and preserve a path toward the next objective.
When Nyra fits
Nyra’s crossbow and flamer support a more deliberate plan. Precise shots can address a priority target, while area denial can make a route or chokepoint less costly to cross. This is useful when thralls are the main reason you cannot reach a pylon. It is not evidence of a special, confirmed damage bonus against Vashtorr; it is a way to manage the arena so you can take the shots that matter.
Operational phase 1: enter and locate every pylon
- Start moving as soon as control returns. Do not begin by standing in the arrival position and unloading into Vashtorr. Use the first moments to establish your route around the elevator.
- Scan for the healing pylons. Their destruction is the confirmed first objective. If a thrall is directly in your way, create only the space needed to pass rather than turning the opening into a full clear.
- Choose the safest reachable pylon. “Safest” means the one you can attack without surrendering your escape route. A pylon that requires you to trap yourself beside a railing or corner may cost more health than it saves.
- Commit enough damage to finish the structure. Leaving several pylons partially damaged can prolong the period in which Vashtorr recovers. The documentation confirms the healing function, but does not provide a required weapon count or damage threshold.
Once the first pylon is destroyed, reassess rather than assuming the fight has entered a published timed phase. Check where Vashtorr and the thralls are, identify the next route, and decide whether the current opening is safe enough for another objective or for a heavy-weapon burst.
Operational phase 2: destroy the healing network
Why pylons come before boss damage
As long as healing pylons remain active, the boss can recover while his thralls attack. Damage dealt to Vashtorr during that period may not produce lasting progress. The pylon-first rule therefore protects both ammunition and time: you stop spending shots on a target that can undo the work while you are being forced to defend yourself.

Move along the outside of your loop only far enough to reach the next structure, then continue around the platform instead of backing into a dead end. If thralls gather at the objective, use the light weapon suited to your chosen hero to open a lane. Caedo can use the chainsword or shotgun for close pressure; Nyra can use precise crossbow fire or area denial from the flamer. These are playstyle applications, not verified pylon-specific bonuses.

Recheck after the last pylon
After the final pylon is down, do not assume the boss will stop attacking or that every thrall disappears. The confirmed benefit is that the healing source has been removed. Continue moving, clear only the enemies that threaten your route, and look for a safe opportunity to damage Vashtorr directly.
Operational phase 3: create a damage window
With the healing objective handled, shift your attention to Vashtorr. A practical damage window is any moment in which you can fire without losing the ability to circle the elevator. Use heavy ammunition when that condition is met; this is the point of arriving with a full reserve. If the boss or thralls force you into a cramped position, return to movement and space first rather than spending every heavy shot while exposed.
Do not wait for an undocumented cue such as a specific percentage, sound, or number of seconds. The available launch guide does not establish those values. Instead, use visible battlefield conditions: a removed pylon, a clear lane, and enough room to retreat or continue around the platform. When that combination appears, deliver concentrated damage; when it disappears, resume movement and light-weapon control.
How to divide light and heavy ammunition
- Light ammunition: use it for thralls that threaten your route and for targets you can handle without stopping your loop.
- Heavy ammunition: reserve it for quickly removing a pylon when the approach is safe or for a clear Vashtorr damage opening after the healing network is gone.
- Emergency use: if a heavy shot is the only way to reopen movement space, spending it can be correct. Surviving with fewer reserves is better than being pinned while saving ammunition.
The available data provides no trustworthy numerical ratio between pylon health, boss health, or weapon damage. Do not translate this plan into a fixed number of shots.
Operational phase 4: manage thralls without losing the boss
Thralls are part of the final fight’s pressure pattern because the healing pylons let Vashtorr recover while they attack. They are not automatically the primary target, however. Clear enough of them to maintain movement, then return to the boss or the next pylon. A full arena clear may consume time and ammunition that should be used on the confirmed objective.
If thralls surround a pylon

If thralls surround you
Break the nearest part of the ring and resume your circle. Backpedaling in a straight line can leave you with no lateral route once Vashtorr closes in. The practical guidance to keep moving is not a verified attack-timing rule; it is a response to the elevator’s limited space and the documented presence of attacking thralls.
If the arena repopulates
Re-establish a lane, remove only the enemies that block it, and then reassess Vashtorr. The launch material does not document a fixed repopulation schedule, so treat each recurrence as a battlefield change rather than a timed phase with a known duration.
What to expect from Vashtorr’s attack patterns
There is no reliable, launch-era list of Vashtorr’s exact attack cooldowns, damage values, or phase-duration thresholds in the available documentation. The Tutorial.Games launch guide explicitly cautions that specific boss mechanics were still being documented by the community after release and describes strategies as provisional rather than confirmed patterns. That means a responsible guide can tell you what to prioritize and how to position, but should not invent a sequence such as “attack A always follows attack B after eight seconds.”
Use the following observation framework during your own attempts:
- Read space, not a stopwatch. Your immediate question is whether the next movement lane is open, not whether a published timer says a strike is due.
- Watch the relationship between boss pressure and thralls. If enemies are closing your route, create space before attempting a pylon or heavy burst.
- Reassess after every objective. A destroyed pylon changes the value of attacking Vashtorr, even if his visible behavior appears unchanged.
- Record what your version shows. If a patch changes an animation or spawn behavior, community launch observations may no longer describe your build.
This approach answers the “attack patterns” question without presenting unverified timings as fact. It also remains useful when the encounter’s exact scripting varies by difficulty, patch, or player position—possibilities that the available launch material does not quantify.

The Lord of Skulls walkthrough describes the game’s broader boss language: glowing targets, shockwave jumps, blood spray, missiles, destructible tankers, jump-pad access to a critical point, and a final head weak point. Those details show that Boltgun 2 can combine arena hazards, exposed targets, and movement checks in one encounter. They do not prove that Vashtorr uses the same attacks or weak points.

The useful transfer is procedural. In both kinds of fight, look for the arena element that changes the damage problem, use movement to reach it, and avoid treating the boss’s health bar as the only objective. For Vashtorr, the documented arena element is the healing pylon network. Do not carry over Lord of Skulls-specific cues such as missiles, tankers, or a head weak point unless your own game build visibly presents them.
Recovery plans for common failed attempts
“I dealt damage, but Vashtorr recovered it.”
You probably left one or more healing pylons active too long. On the next attempt, make locating and destroying those structures your first objective, using light ammunition to create access and heavy ammunition when a safe, decisive burst is available.
“I ran out of heavy ammunition before the pylons were gone.”
You may have spent heavy shots on routine thralls or on Vashtorr while the healing network was still active. Enter with full reserves, use the light weapon for ordinary pressure where practical, and reserve heavy ammunition for pylons, movement emergencies, and the post-pylon damage window.

Begin your loop earlier and avoid fighting from a fixed corner. Clear only enough enemies to reopen lateral movement, then continue around the elevator. If your chosen weapon encourages close-range commitment, disengage as soon as the route is open.
“I cannot tell when to attack the boss.”
Use battlefield conditions rather than an unverified timer: a pylon is down, a route is clear, and you can fire without losing your escape lane. Spend heavy ammunition during that opening, then return to movement when the space closes.
“A guide gives me exact cooldowns that do not match.”
Trust what your current version displays over launch-era claims. The available launch documentation says community mechanics were still provisional and publishes no trustworthy Vashtorr health, damage, or cooldown statistics. Treat precise numbers without a stated version and test conditions as unconfirmed.
A complete attempt checklist
- Confirm that both light and heavy ammunition are full before starting.
- Decide whether your hero choice favors close-range conservation, precise shots, area denial, or another movement-compatible plan.
- Identify a circular route around the elevator instead of committing to one corner.
- Locate the healing pylons and attack them before committing to sustained boss damage.
- Use light ammunition and just enough thrall clearing to reach each objective.
- Destroy each pylon decisively when the approach is safe; do not rely on a published shot count.
- After the healing network is gone, spend heavy ammunition during clear movement-and-damage openings.
- If thralls repopulate or close the route, reopen space first and then return to Vashtorr.
- Ignore unverified cooldowns, health values, and frame-perfect phase claims unless they are demonstrated for your exact game version.
The shortest reliable answer
Beat Vashtorr by solving the elevator’s objective in order: arrive stocked, destroy the healing pylons, keep a route open while managing thralls, and then use your heavy weapons on Vashtorr when you can attack without being pinned. The boss’s exact attack script and numerical timings were not established in the launch material, so movement, pylon priority, and disciplined resource use are safer foundations than a memorized sequence.
