Back up your Beast of Reincarnation progress by installing the latest patch, making an in-game save, quitting completely, and launching the game again to verify the installed version. Then let the platform cloud service finish synchronizing while you remain signed in to the same account. This is the safest published procedure before the current cycle of frequent post-launch updates ends. There is no confirmed game-specific USB export, local save path, or Steam-to-console transfer, so treat Steam, Xbox and PS5 as separate save ecosystems.
What is ending, and what it does not mean
On 16 October 2026, Game Freak/Fictions said the current phase of major, frequent post-launch updates would end with the next patch. The notice says: "Our next patch, currently planned for Oct 19th (final date not confirmed), will be the final patch in this ongoing phase of major post-launch updates." The date can still move, so use the version installed on your system rather than assuming that a calendar date alone proves your copy is current.

This announcement concerns the update cycle. It does not say that your installed game will stop launching, that existing saves will be deleted, or that online services are being shut down. The practical reason to act now is to put your save through the final announced update and confirm that the resulting cloud state is synchronized while publisher support is still actively communicating.
The same notice gives a direct operational instruction: "If you are currently playing, please save your progress, exit the game, and relaunch it." It also says that updates download automatically when physical and digital editions are launched. Automatic downloading does not replace the save-and-relaunch step: you still need to create a current in-game save and allow the platform to finish writing or synchronizing it.

Check your platform and account first
Fictions lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam as supported platforms. The protection available to your save depends on which ecosystem you use and which account is signed in.

If you play on more than one platform, identify the copy containing your newest progress before doing anything else. A cloud icon or an account name on one platform does not prove that another platform can read that save.
The seven-step backup workflow

Connect the account you normally use
Launch the game while connected to the relevant platform account. On Steam, sign in to the Steam account that owns the game. On Xbox, use the Microsoft account associated with your usual profile. On PS5, use the same PlayStation account you used when creating the save. Do not switch accounts during this procedure.

Install the latest available update
Allow the platform to download and install the newest patch before saving. The 16 October notice identified these versions as current at that time: PS5 version 01.012.000, Xbox version 1.1.1.0 and Steam version 1.1.1.0. A later build may have a different number, and the planned 19 October date was explicitly marked final date not confirmed.
For a physical copy, launch with the console online so the update check can run. For a digital copy, start the game after the platform has completed its download. If the launcher shows an update queued, wait for it to finish instead of opening an older executable.

Make a fresh in-game save
Reach a normal save point or use the game’s own save command, then wait for the save confirmation or completion animation. Do not rely on a recent autosave if you have made progress since it was created. Avoid powering down, suspending the application or changing accounts while the save indicator is active.

Exit the game completely
Close the application rather than leaving it suspended in Quick Resume, Rest Mode or a desktop background process. A complete exit gives the game and platform time to flush the save data and begin cloud synchronization.

Relaunch and verify the version
Start the game again. The installed version is shown in the lower-right corner of the title screen. Compare that number with the update currently offered by your platform. If the title screen still shows the previous build, close the game, check for updates manually, install the patch and repeat the save-and-exit sequence.

Wait for the platform cloud state to settle
On Steam, keep the client online until Steam Cloud reports that synchronization is complete. If Steam displays a conflict, do not choose a file blindly; first determine which timestamp contains your newest in-game save. On Xbox, remain signed in to the same Microsoft account and leave the console or Xbox PC app connected long enough for the cloud save to finish. The Xbox listing’s cloud-save capability applies within that Xbox ecosystem.
On PS5, follow the same save, quit and relaunch process and keep the same account. No official game-specific export file or cross-save service is published for this title, so do not treat a successful local save as proof that another platform can import it.

Confirm continuity after the restart
Load the newest save or continue from the title screen and check that your latest location, inventory, quest state and playtime are present. Then exit normally once more. This second launch catches an incomplete update or a stale account before you stop playing.

Backing up the Steam version
What Steam Cloud can protect
Steam’s store listing includes Steam Cloud for the PC build. That service is designed to synchronize the Steam installation’s save state through your Steam account. It protects against some local PC failures, but it does not create a universal save that Xbox or PS5 can read.
Before you quit, make sure the Steam client itself is online. After the game closes, wait for the cloud status to finish. If you play on two PCs, do not launch the second copy until the first one has completed synchronization; opening an older local state can create a conflict.
What the published information does not provide
No official, game-specific local save directory, manual export command, USB-copy procedure or restore sequence has been published for Beast of Reincarnation. Operating-system guesses are risky because a path can vary by build, account and launcher. Do not delete, rename or replace files based on an unverified location, and do not promise yourself that copying an unknown folder is a supported backup.
If you need a second layer of protection on PC, first use the supported in-game save and Steam Cloud workflow. Only make a manual file copy after you have obtained a path and restore procedure from the publisher or platform support for this exact game and version. Until then, the defensible backup is a synchronized Steam save, not an improvised file operation.
Steam-specific failure checks
- Cloud status is paused: restore the client’s online connection, close the game, and wait for synchronization before launching elsewhere.
- A cloud conflict appears: compare timestamps and select the state created by your confirmed in-game save. If the timestamps are unclear, cancel the launch and seek platform support rather than overwriting one copy.
- The title screen has the old version: exit, use Steam’s update check, install the pending build and repeat the seven-step workflow.
- The game loads an older save: stop playing on that copy. Check whether the newer session actually reached a save point and whether Steam Cloud completed before the older copy was opened.
Backing up within the Xbox ecosystem
Play Anywhere and cloud saves
The Xbox listing reports Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox cloud-save capabilities. Those features describe continuity inside the Xbox ecosystem, such as between an Xbox console and an Xbox-supported PC installation using the same Microsoft account. They do not establish a bridge from the Steam build, and they do not turn a PS5 save into an Xbox save.
Use the Microsoft account that owns or normally plays the game. After updating, save in-game, quit completely and relaunch. Keep the system connected until the cloud state has had time to settle. If you use both Xbox console and Xbox PC, launch the second copy only after the first copy has closed and synchronized.
When Xbox shows the wrong progress
- Confirm that the profile is the same Microsoft account used for the newer session.
- Check that the update completed and that the title screen shows the current version.
- Close the game on every other Xbox device before trying again; an older suspended session can preserve stale data.
- Do not select an older cloud state over a newer local state unless you have verified the timestamps and deliberately chosen the older save.
No official game-specific method for downloading, exporting or restoring an Xbox save outside the normal Xbox cloud-save system has been published. Use the platform’s account and synchronization controls rather than attempting to extract files from the console.
Backing up on PlayStation 5
PS5 is a supported platform, and the publisher’s instruction is the same: install the update, save, exit and relaunch. The title-screen version check is especially useful here because it confirms that the application you reopened is the patched build rather than a suspended pre-update session.
The published PlayStation capability information did not display a cross-save badge for this game. No official game-specific export path, USB procedure or restore sequence has been published. Keep the same PS5 account, avoid assuming that a Steam or Xbox cloud save can be imported, and retain the console installation that contains your verified progress.

If you are using a physical disc, let the console complete both the game update and any required system installation before launching. If the game was suspended during the update, close it fully and start a fresh session before making the final save.

No published cross-platform transfer feature is listed. The safest interpretation is that each platform family has its own save ecosystem.

A shared publisher account, if one is introduced later, would not by itself prove that saves are portable. Look for an explicit in-game transfer command or a publisher announcement naming the source and destination platforms before attempting migration.

Yes. The publisher specifically asks active players to save, exit and relaunch, and the relaunch is the point at which you can verify the installed version in the lower-right title screen. Do it once after the current update and repeat it after the announced final patch becomes available.
Do not interpret an automatic download as a completed backup. The update can install while the game is closed, but only a completed in-game save followed by a full exit gives the platform a current save state to synchronize. If the announced patch date changes, follow the same process when the new build appears.
Troubleshooting the backup process
The game says it is up to date, but the version is unexpected
Close the game and check for updates from the platform’s library page. Restart the platform if the download queue is stuck, then launch again and read the title-screen number. Record the number before making another save so you know which build produced it.
The game will not save
Return to a normal gameplay area and use the game’s own save method again. Wait for the confirmation, then quit through the platform’s normal close command. If saving repeatedly fails, do not force a shutdown or overwrite older files; preserve the last confirmed save and contact platform or publisher support with the platform, version number and approximate time of the failure.

Cloud synchronization never completes
Keep the account signed in, restore a stable network connection and close competing copies of the game. On Steam, wait for the client’s cloud status to clear. On Xbox, leave the same Microsoft account active and allow the console or Xbox PC app to finish. If the service reports a conflict, compare timestamps before choosing a side.
The relaunch shows an earlier point in the story
Stop creating new saves until you know which copy is current. Confirm that the first session reached a save point, that you exited completely and that the cloud service finished. Check the account and device before opening another installation. Never assume that the most recently launched copy is the newest save.
You are changing platforms
Do not plan a platform switch as a backup method. No official Steam-to-Xbox, Xbox-to-PS5 or other cross-platform migration has been published. Keep playing on the platform where the verified save exists unless the publisher later publishes a named transfer feature and instructions.
Practical checklist
- Identify the platform containing your newest progress.
- Sign in to the same Steam, Microsoft or PlayStation account used for that save.
- Install the latest available update before saving.
- Make a fresh in-game save and wait for its confirmation.
- Exit the game completely instead of leaving it suspended.
- Relaunch and read the version in the lower-right title screen.
- Wait for Steam Cloud or Xbox cloud synchronization to complete where applicable.
- Load or continue once to verify your location, inventory and quest state.
- Keep Steam, Xbox and PS5 saves separate unless an explicit publisher transfer feature is announced.
- Do not use an unverified local path, USB copy or restore recipe for this game.
What the storefront figures do—and do not—tell you
The Steam listing showed 45 GB of required storage at the time of the 2026 listing. Leave room for the installed game and the update rather than starting an update with a nearly full drive. The same listing showed 64% positive English reviews from 1,582 reviews and 71% positive recent reviews from 135 reviews. Those ratings describe the Steam listing at access time; they are not measurements of save reliability, cloud synchronization or recovery success.
