There is no single, verified save-file location or transfer method for every Fishlabs game. The correct procedure depends on the exact title, edition and platform. Before copying anything, identify the game (such as Galaxy on Fire, Chorus or another Fishlabs release), save normally, quit it completely, and then use either the platform’s supported cloud synchronization or a manual copy of that game’s complete save folder.
A manual PC backup can move progress to another PC running the same title and platform version. Steam Cloud, Xbox cloud saves, and PlayStation or Nintendo cloud services can move supported saves within their own ecosystems. A raw PC save should not be expected to load on Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo hardware unless the game’s own documentation explicitly promises cross-save or cross-progression.
What you need to establish before touching the save
Fishlabs has released games on different platforms, and those games can use different save formats and services. No Fishlabs-authored source in the available documentation provides one universal folder path, filename pattern or PC-to-console conversion process. Treat the game title and platform as required information, not an optional detail.

- Write down the full game title, including a subtitle, remaster label or edition name.
- Record where you play it: Steam or another PC launcher, Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo hardware.
- Note the edition and major version, especially if the destination installation has different downloadable content or a different release.
- Use the same account or profile on the destination device whenever a platform service is involved.
If you cannot identify the exact title, do not paste a save into a folder guessed from another Fishlabs game. A path that works for one release can be absent or incompatible in another.

Finish the save before copying
- Launch the game on the device that contains your newest progress.
- Save through the game’s normal in-game command. If it has more than one save slot, note which slot you intend to preserve.
- Quit to the desktop or console dashboard and close the game fully. Do not copy files while the game is writing a save.
- Wait for any platform synchronization indicator to finish before starting a cloud-based transfer.
Choose a transfer method

Back up a Fishlabs save manually on a Windows PC
This is the most controllable method when you need an offline copy or the game does not advertise cloud saves. The procedure below deliberately avoids claiming a universal Fishlabs path: the exact directory must be confirmed for your title.
1. Locate the title’s real save directory
Start with the game’s official support information, launcher documentation or a file-location note supplied for that exact release. If no path is documented, use a cautious comparison:
- With the game closed, search your user folders for a folder bearing the exact game title or publisher-created abbreviation. Common areas used by PC games include Documents, Saved Games and hidden per-user application-data folders, but these are possibilities rather than Fishlabs guarantees.
- Sort candidate folders by modification date and record their contents before launching the game.
- Launch the game, create or update a save, quit completely, and check which candidate folder changed at that time.
- Open files only for identification; do not edit or rename them. If several folders change, ask the game’s support channel which one is authoritative.
Do not rely on a directory copied from a different Fishlabs title, a different launcher or a different operating-system user. A save folder can also be inside a launcher-managed profile area and may have an account-number directory rather than the game name.

2. Copy the complete folder
- Close the game and verify that its process is no longer running.
- Copy the entire save folder, including every slot, profile file and metadata file. Do not select only the newest-looking file unless the game’s documentation specifically tells you to.
- Paste it to a USB flash drive or other external storage. Cloud storage is also suitable as a secondary copy.
- Create a dated folder name that identifies the game, platform and version, for example
GameName_PC_2026-10-19. Keep the original folder untouched. - Safely eject the external device and, if the data is important, open the backup on another computer to confirm that the files are present.
Ubisoft’s PC-save procedure describes the same preservation principle: “A copy of your save files will now be copied into the new folder.” The useful part is the complete-folder copy, not a claim that Ubisoft’s path applies to a Fishlabs game.

3. Keep more than one dated copy when progress matters
Use a new dated backup after major milestones instead of replacing the only copy. A rotating set of backups protects you from discovering that a corrupted or accidentally overwritten save was already copied everywhere. Never modify the only untouched backup while troubleshooting.
Move the backup to another PC
A PC-to-PC move is safest when both installations use the same game, launcher, edition and compatible version.
- Install the same Fishlabs title on the destination PC and apply the same updates as the source where possible.
- Start the game once, if necessary, so it creates its normal save directory. Quit before copying anything.
- Locate the newly created destination folder using the same title-specific method described above.
- Make a safety copy of that new, empty or newly populated folder. This lets you undo the restore.
- Copy the dated backup’s contents into the destination folder, preserving the folder structure. Do not add an extra nested folder unless the original layout contains one.
- Launch the game and check the expected profile and save slot. Load the restored save rather than immediately creating a new one.
- After confirming that the save works, make a fresh dated backup on the destination PC.
If the destination launcher has cloud synchronization, decide which copy is newer before launching. A cloud service can download an older state and replace the files you just restored.

Steam Cloud is optional at the game level; the store page for each title must list support. Steam describes the feature this way: “The Steam Cloud allows games and the platform to utilize cloud storage hosted by Steam.” That statement describes the service, not automatic support for every Fishlabs release.

Source-device procedure
- Open the game’s Steam store or library details and confirm that Steam Cloud is listed for that exact title.
- Launch the game, save normally and quit fully.
- Remain online and wait until Steam shows that synchronization has completed. Do not shut down or force-close Steam during the upload.
- Keep a manual folder backup as well if the save is valuable; cloud synchronization is not a substitute for an independent copy.
Destination-device procedure
- Sign in to the same Steam account and install the same game.
- Allow Steam to finish downloading the cloud data before launching the game.
- If Steam presents a cloud conflict, stop and compare the local and cloud timestamps or file details. Choose the copy known to contain the newest completed save; when uncertain, cancel the launch and preserve both copies first.
- Open the game only after the desired version has been selected and synchronization has finished.
Steam warns that cloud conflicts and lost data may not be recoverable. A manual, dated backup is therefore the recovery option if the cloud copy is wrong.
Move a supported save between Xbox devices
Xbox cloud saves are tied to the Xbox profile and to games that implement the platform’s save system. Microsoft’s documentation describes local-to-cloud uploads, periodic synchronization and conflict states, but it does not establish that a particular Fishlabs game supports every Xbox transfer scenario.
- On the source Xbox, sign in to the profile that owns the progress.
- Launch the game, save and quit to the dashboard.
- Keep the console connected and allow Game Saves synchronization to complete. Do not interrupt a synchronization message.
- On the destination Xbox, sign in to the same profile and install the same title and edition.
- Start the game only after the console has finished downloading or synchronizing the save.
- If a conflict appears, retain the copy with the newest confirmed progress. If the choices are unclear, stop, do not save over either version, and seek platform support before proceeding.
An Xbox cloud save does not create a file that can simply be copied to a Windows folder or imported into another platform’s storage.
Use PlayStation or Nintendo cloud features
For a console-only recovery, use the platform’s own save-management controls when the title supports them and your account has the required cloud entitlement.

PlayStation
- On the source console, save and close the game.
- Open the system’s saved-data management area and use the platform’s upload-to-cloud command for the game’s save.
- On the destination console, sign in to the same account, install the same game and use the download-from-cloud command before launching it.
- Check the save slot and progress in the game before creating a new save.
Nintendo hardware
- Save and close the game on the source system.
- Use the system’s Save Data Cloud backup control for the title, if it is supported.
- On the destination system, sign in to the same Nintendo Account and download the cloud backup.
- Open the game and verify the restored slot before continuing play.
Support varies by title and service. A cloud menu being present on the console does not prove that every Fishlabs game can use it, and a cloud copy may be older than the latest local save if the upload did not finish.

Assume no unless the exact Fishlabs game documentation explicitly advertises cross-save, cross-progression or a named account-linking system. PC files and console saves can use different formats, encryption and storage permissions. Copying a Windows folder to a USB drive does not make it readable by a console.
Check the game’s official feature list and support pages for all of the following before attempting a cross-platform move:
- The exact platforms covered, not merely a statement that the game is available on several systems.
- Whether progress is attached to a developer account, a platform account or both.
- Any required account linking, edition matching or one-time migration step.
- Whether achievements, downloadable content, settings and save slots transfer separately.
If those instructions are absent, keep the PC backup for PC recovery and use the console platform’s own cloud or transfer tools for console progress.

Troubleshoot a missing or rejected save
The game shows no save after a restore
- Confirm that the backup came from the same title, launcher, edition and user profile.
- Check that the game was closed before the copy and that the destination folder is the one modified by a test save.
- Compare the folder structure. An extra level such as
SaveFolder/SaveFoldercan prevent detection. - Run the destination game once, quit, and replace only the newly created contents with the backup while preserving the original backup elsewhere.
- Verify that the destination installation is not an incompatible older or newer build.
The cloud copy is older
Stop launching the game, preserve the local files and identify which device contains the newest completed save. Resolve the platform conflict using that evidence; do not choose a cloud or local option at random. Once the correct copy loads, create a new manual backup.
The save appears corrupted
Do not overwrite the dated backup. Try an earlier backup or the platform’s previous cloud version, if one exists. If every copy fails, the issue may be a damaged file, an incompatible game update or missing downloadable content; provide the exact title, platform, edition and error message to the game’s official support channel.
The transfer works but progress is missing
Check whether you restored the intended slot and profile. Some games keep settings, profiles and campaign saves as separate files, so copying only one file can produce a partial state. This is why the complete save folder is the safer backup unit.
