The safest Arc Raiders extract is the one you prepare before combat: identify a route, keep stamina and healing available, protect irreplaceable loot in Safe Pocket slots, and choose a Raider Hatch when its key cost is worth the lower visibility. The October 13–20, 2026 PvE toggle removes player-to-player damage, but ARC machines can still reacquire a downed Raider after an eight-second grace period, while regular extraction points remain loud and attractive to other players.
What the PvE toggle changes—and what it does not
The temporary PvE matchmaking toggle, scheduled for October 13–20, 2026, lets players switch between the standard PvPvE experience and dedicated PvE servers. In the test, player-to-player damage is set to zero, and stun and fire throwables cannot be used against players. Overall loot value is lower than in the standard experience.
That is protection from direct Raider damage, not a universal safe mode. ARC enemies remain active. If ARC downs you, the machines can reacquire you after an eight-second grace period. Use those eight seconds to break line of sight and move toward cover, a terminal, or a hatch; do not treat the grace period as permission to stand still.

What “PvE griefer” means in this setting
On a PvE server, another Raider cannot shoot you under the test rules. A player can still be present at your route, appear at an extraction point, create a noisy encounter, or wait near an exit. Those situations matter because extraction controls, container searches, breaching, combat, and other interactions take time and generate sound that can draw both human attention and ARC patrols.
Use the term “griefer” as a warning about pressure around your route, not as evidence that the toggle has removed every way a player can interfere. Your objective is to reduce the information you reveal, preserve an escape lane, and leave before the map removes alternatives.
Why a safe extract depends on noise and timing
The developer describes the main extraction points this way: “Our main extraction points have no direct cost to use, but they draw a lot of attention from both ARC and other players.” A free exit is therefore not a hidden exit. Calling it, waiting for it, and boarding it can expose your position during the exact period when you are carrying your best loot.
Container searches, breaching, and extraction controls are all time-consuming and audible. A fight followed immediately by an extraction call creates two information events in the same area. If another Raider could be nearby, stop adding noise after the first event: move, listen, and approach the exit from cover instead of opening another container in place.

Available extraction options steadily diminish as a session continues. Staying for one more item can convert a flexible early exit into a forced, attention-heavy departure. A safe extract is usually the extract you begin early enough to scout.
Prepare before leaving cover
- Open the map and identify exits. Before committing to a loot route, mark the nearest regular extraction point and any Raider Hatch you can reach. Epic’s beginner guidance specifically recommends learning Raider Hatch, Cargo Elevator, Airshaft, and other extraction locations before you need them. Knowing two routes prevents a single noisy or contested point from becoming your only plan.
- Reserve stamina for the final approach. Sprinting drains stamina. Standing, walking, and crouching restore it, while sliding does not consume stamina. Avoid arriving at the exit with an empty stamina bar; you may need a short burst to cross an exposed lane or break line of sight.
- Protect what cannot be replaced. Put irreplaceable loot in Safe Pocket slots. Eliminated players lose carried equipment except for items kept in those slots, so a failed extraction does not have to erase the most valuable part of the run.
- Carry recovery tools. Bring healing and shield items. If a teammate is down, a Defibrillator revives faster than a manual interaction, provided the approach is defensible.
- Set a leave time. Decide what amount of loot justifies leaving now. The longer you remain, the fewer exits may be available and the more likely you are to make a loud, predictable final move.
Regular extraction points: free, visible, and easy to contest
Regular points have no direct resource cost, but they are the most conspicuous option. Epic’s guide says these points are patrolled and that activating the controls emits a loud blaring noise capable of attracting human and machine enemies. The Getting Started guide gives about 45 seconds for an elevator to arrive after it is called.
How to use a regular point
- Arrive early enough to scout. Approach from cover, pause before the final interaction, and check likely angles for movement or sound. Do not spend your last stamina sprinting into an unexamined platform.
- Choose a fallback first. Know which cover, corner, or alternate route you will use if the call attracts ARC or another Raider. A fallback is useful only if you can reach it without crossing the same exposed ground.
- Activate from cover when possible. The call is loud, so assume your position is now known to nearby threats. Start the interaction only when you can survive the roughly 45-second arrival period.
- Stay mobile while waiting. Do not stand in the center of the platform. Hold an angle, move between cover points, and keep an exit lane open. Avoid opening containers or starting another fight during the wait.
- Board without delay. Once the elevator arrives, enter promptly. Remaining outside after the arrival sequence gives any player or machine that followed the sound another opportunity to reach you.
When a regular point is still the right choice
Use it when you do not have a hatch key, when the point is already close and defensible, or when carrying the extra key cost would risk the run more than the visible approach. “Free” describes the resource cost, not the exposure cost.
Raider Hatches: a key for a quieter, shorter exit
A Raider Hatch requires a key, but the developer describes hatches as quiet and quick, with lower foot traffic than the main points. The developer says keys may be purchased, crafted, or found. The wiki records that a hatch opens for approximately 10–15 seconds and does not use the normal shutdown timer.

That combination changes the risk calculation: you spend a key to reduce the time and noise associated with the final interaction. A hatch is not invulnerable—someone can still be nearby, and ARC can still threaten a downed player—but it gives you a less conspicuous route and is more forgiving when the session is late.
How to use a Raider Hatch
- Confirm the key before routing. Do not detour deep into a dangerous area for a hatch unless the shorter exit meaningfully improves your odds. Keys are a finite run resource even though they can be purchased, crafted, or found across the game’s systems.
- Approach quietly. Stop sprinting before the final area, listen, and use cover. The hatch’s advantage is reduced exposure; announcing your arrival with unnecessary combat or container noise gives that advantage away.
- Supply the key and commit. The hatch remains locked until the key is supplied. Once it opens, the usable window is approximately 10–15 seconds, so have the interaction point in view and avoid last-second inventory management.
- Enter immediately. Unlike a regular point, the hatch does not use the normal shutdown timer according to the wiki. Treat the short opening window as your boarding window rather than waiting for a separate countdown.
Historical design data reported by the developer found that high-level players used Raider Hatches 40% of the time in a test whose year is not stated on the page. That figure describes past test behavior, not a guarantee of current player choices or hatch availability.
Regular point or Raider Hatch?
| Extraction route | Noise and visibility | Resource cost | Time exposed | Late-raid timing | Can a downed Raider use it? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Regular extraction point | Patrolled; activation produces a loud blaring noise that can attract ARC and players | No direct cost | About 45 seconds for an elevator to arrive after calling it, plus the exposed approach and boarding sequence | Less forgiving because available extractions steadily diminish | Yes. A downed Raider can crawl to a terminal and may crawl into an arriving elevator |
| Raider Hatch | Designed as a quieter, lower-foot-traffic route | One Raider Hatch key; keys may be purchased, crafted, or found | Approximately 10–15 seconds while the hatch is open | More forgiving of late timing; it does not use the normal shutdown timer | Yes. A downed Raider can crawl to the hatch |
When another Raider appears
Communicate without surrendering your position
Use proximity chat or emotes if you want to signal that you are not seeking a fight. Do not treat a friendly emote as a guarantee of safety. Keep hard cover between you and the other Raider, preserve a clear route to your fallback, and avoid walking into a dead end to prove cooperation.

The Getting Started guide says matchmaking takes earlier player behavior into account and that aggressive players are placed into more aggressive games. If your goal is a low-conflict lobby, avoid initiating fights when you can disengage. If a fight is unavoidable
- Start from cover. Do not begin an exchange in the open beside your intended extraction.
- Keep an exit lane. Position so that you can retreat toward cover or a different extraction route rather than backing into the point you were trying to protect.
- Break contact after the immediate threat. Avoid triggering a second noise event immediately after the encounter. Move away, restore stamina, heal, and listen before calling an exit.
- Recheck the map. If the encounter consumed time or changed your route, select the safest remaining option instead of automatically returning to the original point.
How to avoid extract camping
There is no guaranteed way to make an extraction point uncontestable, so the practical defense is to avoid becoming predictable. Scout the approach before interacting, arrive with stamina in reserve, and keep a fallback that does not share the same line of sight. If the regular point is loud and exposed, a keyed hatch can remove much of the waiting period.
Do not call an elevator and then continue looting nearby. The blaring activation sound has already announced that a player intends to leave. Move into cover, watch the approach, and be ready to abandon the point if ARC or another Raider makes the position untenable. Because available extractions diminish over time, abandoning one point should trigger an immediate decision—not an extended search for one more container.
How to extract while downed
A downed Raider still has an extraction play. Sources document crawling to an extraction terminal or hatch while downed, and the beginner guide says you may crawl into an arriving elevator.
Recommended Free Tools
- Start crawling immediately. Move toward the nearest terminal or hatch instead of waiting in the open for a teammate.
- Use the PvE grace period correctly. During the current test, ARC gives an eight-second grace period before it can reacquire a downed player. Use it to break line of sight and reach the interaction point; ARC may reacquire you afterward.
- Call for a Defibrillator revive when the route is unsafe. A teammate with a Defibrillator can revive faster than a manual interaction. Let the teammate secure cover first; a faster revive in the open can still fail.
- Take the first viable exit. A downed player should prioritize a reachable terminal or hatch over a theoretically better route farther away.
Timing your departure as the map closes options
The developer says the number of available extractions steadily diminishes during a session. This creates a simple rule: leave before the map forces you to use the loudest or longest route.

- Early raid: Learn the map, collect useful loot, and identify both a regular point and a hatch route.
- Mid raid: Stop adding distant objectives if your inventory already contains the items you came for. Begin moving toward a defensible exit while alternatives remain.
- Late raid: Prefer the route you can reach with cover and stamina, even if it yields less loot. A short hatch interaction can be worth a key when the remaining regular points are exposed or far away.
A practical low-conflict extraction plan
- At deployment, locate two exits. Mark one regular point and one Raider Hatch, then note the cover and terrain between your likely loot area and each route.
- Keep the final approach quiet. Walk or crouch to restore stamina and reduce unnecessary sound. Save sprinting for a crossing or emergency retreat.
- Secure valuables before the last room. Move irreplaceable items into Safe Pocket slots before you commit to a noisy search or long route.
- Leave after the objective, not after the entire map. The value of another container must justify the reduced extraction choices and additional exposure.
- Scout, then interact. Pause at the edge of the extraction area, listen, and identify your fallback before calling the elevator or unlocking the hatch.
- After any encounter, reset. Heal, restore shields, recover stamina, and move away from the noise source before attempting the exit.
- Board or enter immediately. Do not turn a successful arrival into a second exposure window by lingering at the point.
Common mistakes and their fixes
“The PvE toggle means I can ignore other Raiders.”
Fix: Treat the toggle as protection from direct player damage only. Maintain cover, avoid predictable approaches, and remember that player presence can coincide with noise, contested exits, and ARC attention.
“I will call the elevator when I am ready to leave.”
Fix: Call it while you still have time and a fallback. The arrival takes about 45 seconds, and the activation is loud.
“A hatch key is too valuable to spend.”
Fix: Compare the key with the exposure you would accept at a regular point. A 10–15-second hatch opening and no normal shutdown timer can be the better trade when the map is closing options.

“I can loot while waiting for extraction.”
Fix: Once you have announced your position, stop creating additional noise. Hold cover, watch the approach, and be ready to move.
“A downed player has to wait for a revive.”
Fix: Crawl toward a terminal, arriving elevator, or hatch immediately. Use a Defibrillator revive when a teammate can reach you safely and quickly.
“I can sprint the whole route.”
Fix: Alternate movement. Standing, walking, and crouching restore stamina; sliding does not consume it. Reserve the bar for the exposed crossing or final escape.
What to expect after the October 20 test window
The PvE toggle is a temporary beta test, not a permanent promise that every future session will have zero player damage or disabled stun and fire throwables. After October 20, 2026, verify the active matchmaking rules before planning a route around PvE protection. The extraction fundamentals remain useful either way: identify exits early, control noise, protect Safe Pocket items, leave before choices disappear, and keep moving toward cover when downed.
