You can trigger a screenshot workflow when a new row is added to a Google Sheet using Zoho Flow’s Google Sheets Row added trigger, then send that row’s URL to Zoho Catalyst SmartBrowz. The trigger and screenshot API are documented, but the complete handoff—making the authenticated API request, storing its image response, and writing a link back to the sheet—needs to be verified in your Zoho account. Treat this as a documented architecture, not a guaranteed no-code recipe.
How the workflow fits together
The intended flow is: add a URL to a new sheet row, let Zoho Flow receive the new-row event, request a screenshot from Catalyst SmartBrowz, store the returned image, and update the original row with a link and status. The India-facing Zoho Flow integration page lists Google Sheets triggers and row actions; it does not, by itself, establish that Flow can make the required authenticated screenshot request or persist its binary response.
- Prepare a Google Sheet with a URL column and a status or result-link column.
- Configure the Google Sheets Row added trigger in Zoho Flow.
- Pass the new row’s URL into a Catalyst SmartBrowz screenshot request.
- Save the returned image in a storage location your workflow can access.
- Update the corresponding sheet row with the image link and a completion or error status.
Steps 1–2 and the screenshot API request are described in Zoho’s documentation. Confirm in your account how to implement steps 3–5, particularly authenticated HTTP requests and binary-response storage, before relying on the workflow.
Prepare the Google Sheet and connect it to Flow
Use a simple header row
Put column names in the first row, with no blank gaps between headers. For example, use URL, Screenshot link, and Status. Avoid merged cells: Zoho documents them as unsupported for this integration, and gaps can prevent later column names from being fetched or merged into Flow fields.

Configure the current Google Sheets connection
- In Zoho Flow, add the Google Sheets app and configure or reconnect it if prompted by the integration update.
- Provide the spreadsheet ID when configuring the current connection; Zoho says this ID is used to search for the sheet.
- Select the worksheet and choose the Row added trigger.
- Authorize the Google account and map the URL field from the trigger output to the later screenshot step.
Use the current integration rather than older actions labeled “Row added (Old version)” or related legacy versions; Zoho’s guide says these older versions are no longer supported. The current integration page for India lists Row added as well as actions to create a spreadsheet, create a row, update a row, and fetch a row: Zoho Flow Google Sheets integration.
Choose the right trigger: appended row or edited row

The standard Row added trigger should not be treated as an edit trigger. For changes to existing rows, Zoho’s tutorial uses Google Apps Script to send the changed row to a Zoho Flow webhook; the generated webhook URL is the destination, and changed row values can be used by later Flow actions. The request requires your Catalyst project ID and OAuth authorization with the ZohoCatalyst.pdfshot.EXECUTE scope. Zoho’s OAuth example uses an authorization header in the form Authorization: Zoho-oauthtoken … and Content-Type: application/json. Its sample request passes a URL and screenshot settings, and the API returns the generated screenshot. The documented options include output type (screenshot), screenshot type and quality, full-page capture and clipping, viewport, JavaScript behavior, and navigation timeout or wait behavior. Map the URL from the Flow trigger into the API’s URL field and set options suitable for your page. The endpoint is specific to your project; use the API domain and project ID for your Catalyst setup rather than copying placeholders into a live request.

A returned screenshot is not automatically a Drive file or a link in Google Sheets. Your implementation must handle the response, save the image somewhere reachable, obtain a usable link if needed, and then update the appropriate row. The cited documentation establishes screenshot generation, but not a turnkey Flow action for making this authenticated POST and persisting its binary response. Check the available HTTP, custom-function, or intermediary options in your account before calling the workflow complete.
Store the image and write the result back
After the screenshot step, configure a storage step that accepts the returned image data. Then use the Google Sheets row-update action to write the stored image link and a status such as Complete. If the API request or storage step fails, write an error status that helps you identify the failed stage rather than leaving a row that appears finished.

- Decide what access the image link should have. A link visible to your automation account may not be accessible to its intended readers.
- Keep a stable way to identify the source row when updating it, especially if rows can be sorted or changed while the flow runs.
- Test a successful response and a failed request separately, and confirm that the row is updated correctly in both cases.
The exact connector, custom-function, or intermediary configuration depends on the services and account capabilities available to you; the documentation cited here does not establish one universal storage implementation.

Test and troubleshoot the workflow
The URL column does not appear in Flow
- Check that all headers are in row one and contiguous, with no blank column between them.
- Remove merged cells and refresh or reconnect the current Google Sheets configuration.
- Confirm that you selected the intended spreadsheet using its ID and chose the correct worksheet.
Editing a URL does not start the flow
This is expected if the flow uses Row added: that trigger is for a new row appended at the bottom of the selected worksheet. To react to edits, use the Apps Script on-edit-to-Flow-webhook pattern instead.
The screenshot request is unauthorized or rejected
- Verify the OAuth token and that its authorization includes
ZohoCatalyst.pdfshot.EXECUTE. - Check the
Authorizationheader format, JSON content type, project ID, API domain, and request body against Zoho’s API and OAuth examples. - Confirm that the URL field actually contains a URL from the trigger, rather than an empty or incorrectly mapped value.
The API returns an image but the sheet has no link
Screenshot generation and image storage are separate operations. Check whether your selected Flow action or intermediary can accept and save the response, then verify that the resulting location can provide the link you intend to place in Sheets. Do not map raw image data into a cell and assume it becomes a hosted file.

For reliability, test with representative pages, including slower pages and pages whose layout depends on JavaScript. Set the API’s wait and timeout options to suit the sites you control, and make the flow’s status column distinguish successful captures from request, storage, and update failures. The documentation describes these request options but does not provide a universal timeout or throughput guarantee for this workflow.
