To archive a terms and conditions page as a PDF, open the exact page in Chrome, choose File > Print (or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac), select Save as PDF, review the preview, and save. Then open the PDF to check that the clauses you need are present and readable. Record the original URL and capture date and time separately if you need that context: a browser PDF should not be assumed to establish when the site originally published its terms.
Save the terms page as a PDF in Chrome
- Open the website’s exact terms and conditions page, not just its homepage. If the terms refer to separate policies or continue on other pages, decide which pages matter and open each one separately.
- Choose File > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. Google documents this Chrome desktop print workflow in its Chrome Help instructions.
- In the print dialog, set the destination to Save as PDF. Review the preview, page range, and layout. Make sure the page heading and all clauses you intend to keep appear in the document.
- Save the file, then open it in a PDF viewer and inspect the pages. Check for cut-off text, awkward page breaks, missing sections, and text that is too small to read.
- If identification matters, keep a note with the PDF’s original page URL and the actual date and time you captured it. You can also include those details in the filename or a cover sheet.
A saved PDF is a local document you can retain and review. The Chrome print workflow does not, by itself, establish the terms page’s original publication or change date.
Keep a shareable Wayback Machine capture too
- Submit the exact terms-page URL to the Internet Archive’s Save Page Now.
- Retain the URL returned by the service, then open it and inspect the capture timestamp, text, and relevant images or other assets.
- Keep the returned archive URL with your local PDF and a note of the original URL and capture time.
- If a separately linked policy is important, submit that page’s URL separately. Save Page Now captures the page entered; it does not save that page’s outlinks or crawl the entire site. The Internet Archive says the feature saves the entered page, including images and CSS, but a capture can still be incomplete.
Inspect the archived page rather than assuming it reproduces every dependency from the same moment. The Internet Archive notes that missing links may lead to another capture date or even to the live web, and that dynamic behavior and assets may not be preserved completely. Its guidance says simple HTML is generally easiest to archive. See the Wayback Machine help.
PDF and Wayback capture: which should you keep?

These options serve different purposes: a PDF gives you a copy on your device, while the Wayback URL gives you a public archive reference. Keeping both can be useful when you want both forms of access.

What an archived copy can and cannot establish
A PDF or Wayback capture can preserve a readable copy or provide a reference to a saved page. The sources cited here do not establish that either automatically authenticates the terms as legally binding or proves when the site owner published them. For legal proceedings, do not describe an ordinary saved PDF as an authenticated legal record based on these methods alone. The Internet Archive says the Wayback Machine was not expressly designed for legal use and points people seeking legal records to its affidavit process in the Wayback Machine help. Consult appropriate counsel about evidence requirements.

Save Page Now does not capture the page
The Internet Archive identifies crawling restrictions and some SSL or security configurations as possible causes. Its guidance also lists password protection, robots.txt, inaccessible pages, and owner requests among reasons a page may not appear. If the page is visible to you, save a local PDF and record its URL and capture time; a local copy is not a substitute for an authenticated legal record.

The page or PDF looks incomplete
For a PDF, return to the print preview and check the page range and layout, then save again and inspect the result. For a Wayback capture, inspect the returned record directly: scripts that depend on the original host, missing assets, and interactive forms can make a saved page differ from what you saw live. Do not assume that a missing linked item is captured at the same time as the main page.
A linked privacy policy or other term is absent
Open and save that linked page separately if it is material. Save Page Now does not follow outlinks or create a site-wide archive from a single submitted URL.

Keep the records identifiable
- Save the exact URL of each terms or policy page.
- Record the actual capture date and time in a note or cover sheet.
- Keep the local PDF and any returned Wayback URL together.
- Inspect both outputs for the clauses and assets you need; do not infer completeness from a successful save alone.
