You can apply for the Jio Platforms IPO through a permitted intermediary using UPI, or through a participating bank using traditional ASBA. The announced public-subscription window is Wednesday, October 21, through Friday, October 23, 2026. UPI applications are completed only after you approve the mandate in your UPI app; ASBA applications block the bid amount in your bank account until allotment processing.
The final price band, lot size, minimum investment, UPI confirmation cut-off, allotment date, refund or unblocking date, and listing date must be checked in the latest Jio Platforms Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) and live NSE/BSE issue information before you submit an application.

UPI and ASBA: which route should you use?
Both routes are based on ASBA—Application Supported by Blocked Amount. The difference is how you authorize the block and where you submit the application.
| Practical point | UPI application | Traditional ASBA |
|---|---|---|
| Payment approval | You enter a UPI ID and approve a mandate in the linked UPI application. | You authorize a participating bank to block the bid amount. |
| Submission channel | A permitted stock broker, registrar and transfer agent, or depository participant generally provides the IPO form. | A participating Self-Certified Syndicate Bank or another permitted ASBA channel accepts the form. |
| Money movement | The bid amount is blocked in the linked bank account; it is not an immediate final debit. | The bid amount remains blocked in the bank account while allotment is processed. |
| Action that can cause failure | Ignoring, rejecting, or approving the mandate after the issue-specific deadline can invalidate the application. | Submitting after the bid closes, using an unpermitted channel, or providing incorrect bank or demat details can cause rejection. |
| Best fit | Applicants who can monitor a UPI app and approve a mandate promptly. | Applicants who prefer a bank-based process or do not want to use UPI. |
NPCI describes the UPI IPO process as submitting a UPI ID and approving the resulting mandate. NSE describes ASBA as a payment method in which application money remains in the investor’s account until the basis of allotment is finalized. In either route, funds are reserved rather than freely available for other transactions.
Prepare before you open the application
Have the following information ready. The live form and RHP control the exact fields and category options.
- PAN: Use the applicant’s own PAN exactly as recorded for the demat account.
- Demat account details: Confirm the beneficiary-owner or client identification details and the depository (NSDL or CDSL) shown by your intermediary.
- Bank account: For UPI, use the account linked to the UPI ID. For ASBA, use the account from which the bank will block funds.
- UPI ID, if applicable: It must belong to the applicant or an account arrangement permitted by the issue rules. Do not assume that a third party’s UPI ID will be accepted.
- Bid quantity and price: Enter only quantities that match the published lot size. Choose the cut-off option only when the live form allows it and you understand what that instruction means.
- Available balance: Keep enough cleared money in the linked account for the entire bid amount and any bank-level holds. A block is not a final debit, but the balance cannot normally be used for other purposes while blocked.
- Contact details: Keep the email address and mobile number associated with the application current so you can receive mandate, application, and allotment messages.
Do not submit duplicate applications in the same category unless the RHP and intermediary expressly permit the structure. Multiple or inconsistent applications can be rejected under the issue rules.

How to apply for the Jio Platforms IPO using UPI
UPI is a mandate-based ASBA route. Completing the online form alone is not enough; the mandate must also be approved within the issue’s allowed time.
- Open a permitted IPO application channel. Sign in to a participating stock broker, registrar and transfer agent, or depository participant. Select the Jio Platforms issue only while the subscription window is open. Confirm the opening and closing dates against the latest official notice.
- Choose the correct investor category. Select the category shown by the live form—such as retail, eligible shareholder, or employee—only if you satisfy the RHP definition. A Reliance Industries shareholding does not by itself guarantee a shareholder-category application or an allotment.
- Enter applicant and demat information. Provide the PAN, demat details, bid quantity, and bid price. If the form offers a cut-off choice, select it only where permitted. Use the exact fields displayed by the live application rather than relying on an older IPO form.
- Enter and verify the UPI ID. Check every character. The UPI ID should point to the bank account that will hold the block. An incorrect ID can prevent the mandate from reaching you.
- Submit the bid. Save the application number or acknowledgement shown by the intermediary. Submission creates the request; it does not complete payment authorization.
- Open the UPI mandate request. Look in the UPI app connected to the entered ID. Review the issuer name, amount, applicant details, and expiry or end date before taking action.
- Approve before the issue-specific deadline. The exact Jio Platforms UPI confirmation cut-off is not stated in the consulted official passages. Find it in the live issue instructions and approve before that time. A mandate approved after the deadline may not be accepted even if the IPO is still open.
- Check the block. Confirm that the bank shows the required amount as blocked or held. Do not cancel the mandate while the application is active unless you intentionally want to withdraw it and the rules allow withdrawal.
- Retain records. Keep the application number, mandate reference, and confirmation messages until allotment and any unblocking are complete.
If the UPI mandate does not appear
- Recheck that the UPI ID was entered correctly and belongs to the intended bank account.
- Open the UPI app’s pending-mandates or IPO section rather than relying only on a push notification.
- Confirm that the bank account has sufficient available funds and that UPI is active.
- Contact the intermediary or bank promptly if the issue-specific deadline has not passed. Do not create a second application merely because a notification is delayed.
If you approve the wrong amount or details
Do not assume that editing the application automatically changes an already issued mandate. Ask the intermediary whether cancellation and a fresh application are allowed under the live issue rules. Keep evidence of the original request and any corrected submission.

Traditional ASBA uses a participating bank to block the application money. NSE’s procedure describes a Self-Certified Syndicate Bank accepting and checking the form, blocking the amount, uploading the bid, and later unblocking unused funds or transferring the amount due for allotted shares.
- Find a permitted ASBA channel. Use a participating Self-Certified Syndicate Bank or another channel listed for the live Jio Platforms issue. Your ordinary bank branch is not automatically an ASBA centre.
- Obtain the current bid-cum-application form. Use the form supplied for this issue and category. Do not reuse an old form or copy fields from an unrelated IPO.
- Complete the applicant details. Enter the PAN, demat account information, applicant category, quantity, and price or cut-off instruction where the form permits it.
- Provide the blocking account. Enter the bank account from which the amount will be blocked. Verify the account number and account-holder name before signing.
- Authorize the block. The bank checks the application and places a hold for the bid amount. The funds remain in your account but generally cannot be spent or withdrawn while the block is active.
- Collect proof of submission. Retain the stamped acknowledgement or application reference. It is the record to use if the bid does not appear in status checks.
- Monitor allotment and release. After the basis of allotment is finalized, the amount for allotted shares is transferred as required and the unused amount is unblocked according to the issue process.
NSE’s issue-information guidance states that investors must use the ASBA facility for payment in public issues. For this offering, confirm the permitted bank list, submission hours, and any category-specific instructions in the live RHP and application form.

Neither route should be treated as an immediate purchase of shares.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Application submitted: Your bid details are sent through the permitted intermediary or bank.
- Amount blocked: UPI creates a bank mandate that blocks the requested amount after approval. Traditional ASBA places the block through the bank.
- Basis of allotment: Applications are processed under the issue’s allocation rules. The blocked amount is not proof that shares will be allotted.
- If shares are allotted: The amount payable for the allotted shares is transferred as instructed by the issue process.
- If shares are not allotted, or part of the bid is not allotted: The unused amount is released or unblocked according to the mandate and issue timetable.
NPCI states that blocked funds are released after the mandate’s end or expiry date, subject to the allotment process. The exact release date for this IPO has not been published in the consulted material, so use the official issue, registrar, bank, or exchange status rather than an informal estimate.

Reliance Industries shareholder reservation
The official Reliance Industries notice discloses a reservation of equity shares valued at not more than ₹2,500 crore for eligible Reliance Industries public equity shareholders. The notice identifies individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who were public equity shareholders as of October 14, 2026, subject to exclusions under applicable law and the detailed RHP definitions.
The eligibility date is not the same as an automatic right to apply or receive shares. The RHP must be used to confirm the required holding records, permitted application category, reservation mechanics, application limits, and allocation method. Holding one Reliance Industries share does not guarantee eligibility or allotment.
Employee reservation
The same official disclosures describe an employee reservation valued at not more than ₹500 crore. Eligibility, proof requirements, application limits, and the allocation process are governed by the RHP. Select the employee category only when you meet those published conditions.
Price band, lot size and minimum investment: verify before bidding
The available official passages do not state the final price band, lot size, or minimum application amount. These figures determine how much money will be blocked, so do not calculate an investment from the ₹10 face value. Face value is the nominal value of each share, not the IPO offer price.

Before submitting, open the latest RHP or live issue page and record:
- the lower and upper price-band limits;
- the lot size and permitted bid multiples;
- the minimum and maximum application quantities for your category;
- whether a cut-off bid is available to the relevant applicant;
- the UPI mandate confirmation deadline and any withdrawal or modification window;
- the allotment, refund or unblocking, and listing dates.
If a broker screen conflicts with the RHP or an exchange notice, pause and obtain clarification from the intermediary. A stale application screen can show terms from another issue or an earlier revision.

Applying on the closing day
Do not wait until the final afternoon. Bank, intermediary, UPI, and exchange systems can impose cut-offs within the published issue dates. The IPO’s advertised closing date is Friday, October 23, 2026, but the UPI approval deadline may be earlier and is issue-specific.
Insufficient balance
A mandate can fail or remain unfulfilled if the linked account lacks enough available funds. Leave the required amount untouched until the application is resolved. A temporary block, lien, or other bank hold can reduce the balance even when the ledger balance appears sufficient.
Incorrect PAN or demat details
Mismatch between PAN, applicant name, and demat records can lead to rejection or prevent shares from being credited. Correct errors through the permitted modification process; do not rely on a later manual correction.

UPI mandate rejected or expired
A rejected or expired mandate does not become valid merely because the application number exists. Contact the intermediary immediately to determine whether a new mandate or permitted reapplication is possible before the deadline.
Using an unpermitted channel
Submit only through the intermediaries and banks authorized for this issue. A generic payment transfer, direct bank transfer, or unofficial form is not a substitute for an IPO ASBA application.
Assuming allotment
Successful blocking means the application entered processing; it does not predict allotment. Wait for the official basis-of-allotment and status information.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow to check application and allotment status
Once the issuer publishes the relevant details, use the official registrar, exchange, or intermediary status facility. Keep your application number, PAN, demat details, and category information available. Check that the bid is recorded before the issue closes and check the final allotment after the basis is published.
If the application is missing, first compare the acknowledgement with the intermediary’s records. For a UPI bid, also confirm that the mandate was approved and the amount was blocked. For an ASBA bid, ask the bank whether it uploaded the application successfully. Escalate through the intermediary’s formal investor-support process if the status remains unresolved.
Safety checks before you approve or sign
- Use only the current RHP, issuer notices, NSE or BSE issue information, and the official registrar status page for terms and dates.
- Verify the issuer name, amount, and expiry date on every UPI mandate before approval.
- Never share a UPI PIN, one-time password, or banking password with an intermediary, caller, or message sender.
- Do not approve a mandate that you did not initiate or that shows a different amount from your bid.
- Save the acknowledgement, mandate reference, and bank-block details until funds are released and shares, if allotted, appear in the demat account.
Bottom line
For the announced Jio Platforms IPO, apply through UPI by submitting the bid with a permitted intermediary and approving the resulting mandate before the issue-specific cut-off. Choose traditional ASBA if you prefer a participating bank to block the amount directly. The subscription window is scheduled for October 21–23, 2026, but the price band, lot size, minimum investment, and several post-issue dates still require confirmation from the latest official issue materials. The block of funds is necessary for processing, not a promise of allotment.
