As of 19 October 2026, the Jio Platforms Limited IPO is scheduled to open to public investors from Wednesday, 21 October, through Friday, 23 October. You can apply through an eligible broker, bank/SCSB, depository participant, syndicate member or registrar by entering your demat details and UPI ID, then approving the issue mandate in your UPI app. The bank blocks the application amount and debits it only for shares allotted.

The final price band, bid lot and exact UPI-mandate cut-off time have not been confirmed in the available Red Herring Prospectus (RHP). Use the final issue notice and the live application screen for those values rather than relying on an estimate.

Jio Platforms IPO dates and confirmed issue facts

Reliance Industries Limited reported that Jio Platforms Limited filed its RHP, dated 14 October 2026, with the Registrar of Companies, Gujarat at Ahmedabad. The issue is scheduled, but it was not yet open at the 19 October 2026 information date.

The share count, face value, proposed exchanges and reservation amounts above come from the issuer’s 2026 issue documents. A reservation amount is not a promise that every eligible applicant will receive shares or that an applicant can bid for the entire reservation value.

What you need before starting a UPI application

Prepare these items before the issue opens. A missing or mismatched detail can prevent the bid from being accepted or the mandate from being authorised.

  • A demat account: The account must be active and able to receive equity shares. Keep the exact demat or beneficiary-account details available.
  • A linked bank account: The account must be connected to the UPI ID you enter in the IPO form and must have enough available balance for the bid amount.
  • An eligible UPI ID and application channel: Use a UPI-enabled bank or intermediary appearing on the current eligible lists maintained through SEBI’s process. Not every payment app or bank is necessarily enabled for IPO mandates.
  • PAN and investor information: Your PAN, name, category and demat details should match the records held by the intermediary and depository.
  • Access to the authenticated UPI app: You must be able to view and approve a mandate request in the app connected to the bank account. A notification alone does not mean that a mandate is genuine.
  • Time before the deadline: Leave enough time for the bid to be submitted and the mandate to arrive. The issue closing date is not the same as a confirmed final mandate-authorisation cut-off.

Where you can submit the bid

The RHP permits several application routes. The route is a matter of access and workflow, not evidence that one provider is better than another. Before using any route, confirm that the intermediary is on the applicable SEBI list and that it supports UPI applications for this issue.

Route What to check before submitting Where to monitor the result
Broker or other SEBI-registered stock-broker app Whether the IPO is displayed for your investor category, whether PAN and demat details are prefilled correctly, and whether the app clearly shows mandate status and deadlines The broker’s order screen, then the registrar or official exchange status facility
Bank or Self-Certified Syndicate Bank (SCSB) app Whether the bank is enabled for UPI-ASBA, which bank account will be blocked, and whether the UPI ID is linked to that account The bank’s IPO section and the registrar or exchange status facility
Depository participant Whether the DP accepts this issue and can transmit the correct beneficiary details The DP’s application record and the registrar
Syndicate member Whether the member is permitted to collect bids and can record your UPI ID accurately The acknowledgement from the member, followed by registrar or exchange status checks
Registrar to the issue Whether the registrar is accepting direct applications through its authorised channel and what identity checks it requires The registrar’s application and allotment-status service

Whichever route you choose, the bid must identify the same investor, PAN, demat account and UPI-linked bank account. Do not submit duplicate bids simply because two screens show different status messages; first ask the intermediary which application is valid and whether a correction is possible.

Step-by-step: apply for the Jio Platforms IPO using UPI

1. Wait for the public issue window

The public window is scheduled for 21–23 October 2026. On 19 October, the issue was still scheduled rather than open to public bidders. A broker or bank may show an IPO before the opening date for information or preparation, but that does not mean a public bid has been accepted.

2. Open an authorised IPO application screen

Sign in to your eligible broker, bank/SCSB, DP, syndicate-member or registrar channel. Open the IPO or public-issue section and select Jio Platforms Limited. If the issue is not visible, check the opening date, update the app, and confirm that your selected channel is authorised for UPI applications. Do not use a link sent by an unsolicited caller or message.

3. Select the correct investor category

Choose the category that matches your eligibility. A regular retail bid is different from an individual non-institutional bid and from an application in the RIL Shareholders Reservation Portion. Selecting a shareholder category does not itself establish eligibility; you must satisfy the RHP’s shareholder conditions and bid rules.

4. Enter PAN and demat details

Enter or verify your PAN, depository participant details, client or beneficiary account number and registered name. Correct any prefilled value that does not match your official records before proceeding. A UPI mandate cannot repair a wrong PAN or an incorrect demat account.

5. Enter quantity and bid price

Enter the number of shares and the bid price permitted by the live issue screen. If the final issue rules allow a cut-off bid for your category, the screen will provide that option. The available RHP text contains bracketed placeholders for the price band and bid lot, so do not copy a number from an unverified article, message or social-media post. Use the final issue notice for the minimum lot, price range and any category-specific restrictions.

6. Provide the UPI ID linked to the funding account

Type the UPI ID belonging to the bank account that will provide the funds. The RHP requires UPI bidders to provide this ID in the bid-cum-application form. Check every character; an ID connected to a different person, bank account or payment app can lead to a rejected or uncompleted mandate.

7. Review the application before submission

Confirm the issue name, investor category, PAN, demat number, quantity, bid price or cut-off choice, UPI ID and the displayed application amount. Also read the deadline shown by the intermediary. Submit only after these details agree with your records.

8. Submit the bid and wait for the mandate request

After submission, the intermediary sends a UPI mandate request to the UPI application associated with the ID you entered. The request may not appear instantly. Keep the app and bank account available, and avoid changing the UPI ID or cancelling a valid request while the application is being processed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

9. Verify and approve the mandate inside your UPI app

Open the UPI app through its normal authenticated login, not through a link supplied by another person. Check that the request identifies the Jio Platforms IPO, shows the expected application amount and comes from the correct bank-linked flow. Authorise it with the UPI PIN only after those checks. NPCI’s described flow is bid submission followed by authorisation of the mandate in the UPI application.

10. Confirm both statuses

Return to the intermediary’s IPO screen and confirm that the bid is recorded and the mandate is accepted or active. Keep the application number, acknowledgement and any mandate reference. A successful UPI authorisation by itself is not a substitute for checking that the intermediary accepted the bid.

11. Leave the mandate in place through processing

Do not cancel or reject a valid mandate while the issue is being processed. The bank blocks the amount under the ASBA process. It is debited only for shares allotted; if shares are not allotted, the block is released according to the issue procedure. Keep sufficient balance and avoid actions that could make the mandate fail before the final processing step.

Investor categories, limits and the shareholder reservation

Retail Individual Investor

The RHP defines a Retail Individual Investor as an individual bidding for no more than ₹200,000. The limit is based on the bid value, so use the final price and lot information shown in the issue documents when calculating whether your application fits the category. Do not assume that a higher quantity is permitted merely because your bank balance is sufficient.

Individual UPI bidder in the non-institutional category

The RHP also describes individual UPI bidders in the non-institutional category for bids up to ₹500,000, or another amount prescribed by applicable law. The final issue documentation and live application form control the permitted amount and category treatment. If your intended bid exceeds the retail ceiling, select the appropriate category only when the form confirms that you qualify.

RIL Shareholders Reservation Portion

Eligible public shareholders of Reliance Industries as of 14 October 2026 may apply in the RIL Shareholders Reservation Portion through UPI, subject to the RHP’s eligibility and bid rules. The issuer filing describes a reservation of equity shares worth up to ₹2,500 crore for eligible RIL public shareholders. The record-date condition and category selection are separate from the general retail value limit; follow the exact rules in the final issue notice.

Employee reservation

The filing also states that equity shares worth up to ₹500 crore are reserved for eligible employees. That reservation is not a general UPI route for the public. An employee must satisfy the issue’s employee eligibility conditions and use the category made available in the authorised application form.

What happens to your money after mandate approval?

UPI applications for this issue follow the ASBA-style block mechanism. The mandate authorises the bank to place a block on the displayed bid amount rather than transferring the money immediately to the issuer.

  1. At authorisation: The bank places a lien or block for the application amount in the linked account. The balance may show as unavailable even though the money has not yet been finally debited.
  2. During allotment processing: The application is processed with other bids in the selected category. Keep the mandate active and maintain adequate balance for the block.
  3. If shares are allotted: The amount corresponding to the allotted shares is debited under the issue procedure.
  4. If shares are not allotted, or an amount is not required: The blocked amount is released according to the issue process. The timing of the release is controlled by the intermediary, bank and issue timetable, so retain your mandate reference until the release appears.

A pending bank block is therefore not proof of allotment. Allotment must be confirmed through the registrar or official exchange status channel after the issuer’s processing is complete.

Deadlines and information that is still pending

Use this timeline as a planning aid, not as a replacement for the final issue notice.

Date or stage What it means for an applicant
14 October 2026 Jio Platforms filed its RHP, according to Reliance Industries’ exchange filing.
19 October 2026 Anchor-investor bidding was scheduled; the public issue was not yet open at the stated information date.
21 October 2026 Scheduled opening of public bidding.
23 October 2026 Scheduled closing of public bidding. The exact time by which a UPI mandate must be authorised is not confirmed in the available RHP extract.
After bidding closes Application processing, allotment, debit for allotted shares and release of unused blocked funds follow the final issue timetable. Specific allotment and listing dates were not stated in the supplied issue details.

Because the available RHP contains bracketed placeholders for the price band, bid lot and some price fields, wait for the final issue notice or updated prospectus before calculating your application value. The same notice and the live intermediary screen should supply the operative mandate deadline.

How to verify an application and allotment

  1. Save the acknowledgement or application number shown immediately after submission.
  2. Check the intermediary’s IPO order history for a recorded bid and mandate status.
  3. Use the registrar’s authorised status facility, using the details requested there, once allotment information is published.
  4. Check the official exchange channels named in the issue documents for the relevant status information.
  5. Compare any allotment result with the demat account after processing. A UPI notification, bank block or message from an unknown number is not an allotment confirmation.

KFin Technologies Limited is named as the registrar to the issue. Use the registrar and exchange channels identified in the final documents rather than searching for an unverified copycat site.

Common UPI application problems and fixes

Symptom Likely cause What to do
The IPO is not listed in the app The public window has not opened, the app is not enabled for the issue, or the app has not refreshed Check the scheduled dates, update or reopen the app, and confirm that the bank or intermediary appears on the current eligible list. Do not submit through an unauthorised link.
No mandate arrives Incorrect UPI ID, delayed bank notification, unsupported bank/app combination or a temporary technical delay Verify the ID entered in the application, open the UPI app directly, check its mandate section and contact the intermediary before the deadline if the request remains absent.
The mandate shows a different issue or amount Possible data-entry error, stale request or fraudulent request Do not approve it. Reject or leave it unauthorised, capture the details, and ask the intermediary or bank how to correct the bid.
Mandate is rejected or expires Insufficient available balance, incorrect UPI credentials, bank restrictions or missed authorisation deadline Check the bank account and UPI status, then contact the intermediary immediately. Submit a new bid or mandate only if the intermediary confirms that the issue is still open and a replacement is permitted.
Money is blocked but the app says no application Status synchronisation delay or a mismatch between the bank and intermediary records Keep the mandate reference, check both systems again, and ask the intermediary to trace the application. Do not create a duplicate bid until you know whether the first one is valid.
Shareholder category is unavailable The account may not meet the RHP’s eligibility conditions, the record-date information may not have been validated, or the intermediary may not support that category Review the final issue rules and ask the authorised intermediary how shareholder eligibility is verified. Do not select the category solely because you hold or previously held shares.
PAN or demat mismatch appears Old KYC data, a wrong beneficiary number or a different name across records Stop before submission and correct the records through the intermediary or depository. A UPI approval cannot fix an identity mismatch.

Security checks for a genuine UPI mandate

  • Start from the official issuer, exchange, registrar, bank or intermediary channel identified in the issue documents.
  • Confirm the mandate names the Jio Platforms IPO and shows the amount you intended to apply for.
  • Approve only inside the authenticated UPI or bank application. Never approve from a web page that asks you to type a UPI PIN.
  • Never disclose your UPI PIN, OTP, card PIN, password or banking credentials to a caller, chat agent or website.
  • Be suspicious of promises of guaranteed allotment, requests to transfer money to a personal account, or pressure to approve an unfamiliar collect request.
  • Check the current SEBI lists of enabled SCSBs and UPI mobile applications instead of assuming that every bank or payment app is eligible.

Questions to answer before you press submit

  • Is the public issue actually open, and what closing and mandate-authorisation times are shown in the final notice?
  • Does my bid fit the retail, non-institutional, shareholder or employee category I selected?
  • Do my PAN, demat account and name match the intermediary’s records?
  • Is the UPI ID linked to the bank account that can provide the blocked amount?
  • Have I checked the issue name and amount in the mandate before entering my UPI PIN?
  • Can I retrieve my application number and later check the result through the intermediary, registrar or exchange?
