Gyre documents that you can change the playlist while a stream is running, so you do not have to rebuild the broadcast just to refresh its videos. Add the video to Gyre Storage, arrange the playlist, apply that playlist to the active stream, then verify the result in your Gyre account. Gyre’s documentation does not specify whether a newly added video starts immediately or at a later playback boundary.
How to add a video to a running Gyre stream
Gyre’s documented workflow supports changing a stream’s playlist during a broadcast. The vendor does not publish exact live-dashboard button names or establish when a newly added file enters playback, so use the playlist and stream controls shown in your account rather than relying on assumed labels.
- Open the active stream. In your Gyre account, identify the playlist currently assigned to it.
- Upload the video if needed. Gyre’s prerecorded-stream workflow stores videos in Gyre Storage before they are organized into a playlist. If the video is already stored, go to the next step.
- Build or edit the relevant playlist. Select the files you want and arrange them in the intended playback order. Gyre describes a playlist as the ordered set of files played by a stream.
- Check the file report. Review Gyre’s compatibility checks before relying on the new file. Its documentation calls out parameters such as resolution, frame rate, and audio consistency, and describes optimizing a stored file when needed.
- Apply the playlist to the existing stream. Return to the stream’s playlist selection, make the change, and check the stream state in your account. Gyre says a playlist can be changed while a stream is running.
Will the new video start playing right away?
Gyre’s documentation confirms that an active stream’s playlist can be changed, but it does not say whether a newly added video starts immediately, waits until the current video ends, or takes effect at another point in playback. Check the active stream in your Gyre account after applying the change; do not assume a particular transition time.
Check video compatibility before changing the playlist
Resolve file problems before launch rather than expecting the running stream to correct them. Gyre says YouTube locks some stream parameters, including resolution, frame rate, and ingestion type, when the stream is created. Its guidance recommends checking files before launch and describes using a file check and converter to identify or optimize stored media when necessary. Avoid treating a playlist update as a way to change the stream’s technical settings.

Playlist update or rebuild?
For the specific task of refreshing videos in an already-running stream, editing its playlist is the lighter workflow: Gyre documents that the playlist can be changed without rebuilding the broadcast. Rebuild or relaunch only if you need to address a stream setup or technical-parameter issue that a playlist edit cannot change.
Stream setup context
Gyre documents YouTube setup through channel authorization or a manual stream-key/RTMP workflow. The authorization route has vendor-stated prerequisites; manual setup uses a stream key and RTMP and may give advanced users more control over YouTube Studio configurations. These are setup options, not requirements for every playlist edit. Confirm which workflow your current stream uses before changing its configuration.
