To add an overlay in Streamlabs Mobile, open or create a scene, then go to Layers → Add Layers and choose what to place on the canvas. You can apply a coordinated theme or build a layout from individual images, widgets, text, and other available elements.
Choose a theme or build your own overlay
A theme is the quickest way to get a coordinated look: it can bundle a matching screen border with themed alert and chat widgets. Adding individual layers gives you more control over which graphics and widgets appear and where they go.

Add individual overlays and widgets
- Open the scene controls. In Streamlabs Mobile, open the app menu and choose Scenes.
- Create or select a scene. Create a new scene, give it a name, and select a premade or custom scene, or open a scene you already use.
- Open the layer menu. Tap Layers in the upper-right area, then tap Add Layers.
- Choose an element. Depending on the app version and device, the editor offers options such as themes, guests, cameras, widgets, Streamlabs graphics, custom items, and stream labels. Widgets include items such as Alert Box and Chat Box. A custom item can be an image from your phone, a website link, or custom text.
- Position and size it. Drag the element on the canvas and resize it as needed. Use Layers to arrange the elements in the scene.
- Save and review. Save the layout and check how it looks in the scene. If Streamlabs prompts you to repeat the arrangement for landscape, complete that step too.
Apply a premade theme
- Open the app menu and choose Themes.
- Browse the mobile theme library and select a theme.
- Choose the scene where you want to apply it. Review the preview if the app offers one.
- Tap Continue, then Apply.
- Inspect the scene: the theme may change its layout. Drag, resize, or rearrange elements as needed, then save. Streamlabs may prompt you to repeat the arrangement for landscape.
Mobile themes are described by Streamlabs as available to Ultra users or through app rewards; Ultra is not the only documented access route. Check what is currently available in your app before subscribing. Streamlabs’ Ultra page listed a starting price of $15.75/month when reviewed on October 3, 2026; subscription pricing and availability can change, so confirm the current offer on Streamlabs Ultra.
Arrange overlays for the stream canvas
Streamlabs’ editor instructions say platforms require a 16:9 stream output. Widgets can only be edited in landscape mode. If you hold the phone in portrait, entering editor mode automatically switches to landscape so you can place items on the intended output canvas rather than in the black side bars. Save the layout and follow the app’s prompt to repeat it for landscape if shown.

Keep important text and alerts within the visible canvas, and preview the scene after moving or resizing elements. The exact controls and labels can vary as the app changes.
Screen sharing depends on your device
The editor guide identifies screen sharing as an iOS layer. A September 2026 Streamlabs guide also describes Android screen capture while broadcasting the camera at the same time. Since the documented options differ by platform, check the choices shown in your installed app rather than assuming the same screen-share controls are available on iOS and Android.

Troubleshoot common overlay problems
- You cannot edit a widget: Switch to landscape mode; Streamlabs says widgets can only be edited in landscape.
- The overlay is in the wrong place or partly off canvas: Reopen the scene editor in landscape and reposition or resize the element on the 16:9 canvas.
- Your existing layout changed: Applying a theme may alter the scene. Review the layers, rearrange the affected elements, and save the layout again.
- You cannot find a theme: Theme access may be through Ultra or app rewards. Check the current in-app availability; the documentation does not establish Ultra as the only route.
- You cannot find screen sharing: Available options differ across the reviewed iOS and Android documentation. Check your device’s current app menus and installed version.
