The documented Live Sales Notification extension can display genuine recent orders or promotional notices for selected products and categories, with controls for placement, timing, design, mobile display, and sound.
What you need before you start
- A WordPress administrator account with permission to install plugins.
- The ZIP file for a WooCommerce sales-notification extension, such as Live Sales Notification for WooCommerce.
- A decision about whether visitors should see genuine orders only, or clearly labeled promotional activity for selected products.
Do not describe simulated or promotional notices as live purchases. A genuine sales popup is based on an actual WooCommerce order; a selected-product or “fake order” notice is marketing content, not evidence that a customer bought the item.
Install the Live Sales Notification extension
- Obtain the extension ZIP file.
- In WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New.
- Select Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP file, and select Install Now.
- When installation finishes, select Activate Plugin.
- Open the extension settings. The documentation places them at WooCommerce > Settings > Sales Notifications; the Marketplace listing describes the shortcut as WooCommerce > Sales Notifications.
If the settings screen does not appear, confirm that the plugin is activated and that your account has administrator-level plugin and WooCommerce settings access.
Configure where notifications appear
Use the extension’s general and assignment controls to decide which devices, pages, and audiences receive the popup.

Enable desktop and mobile display
In General settings, enable notifications for desktop, mobile, or both. Mobile visitors may need a less intrusive frequency and a smaller design than desktop visitors.
Select storefront pages
The documented display locations include:
- Home
- Shop
- Single-product pages
- Category pages
- Cart
Use Assign or the equivalent placement control to limit the popup to pages where it supports the buying decision. For example, product and cart pages can show relevant order activity without covering every page on the site.

Choose the activity source: real orders or promotion
Show genuine recent orders
Select the extension’s Real Sale Notifications or real-order option when every sale message must correspond to an actual WooCommerce order. This is the appropriate setting for truthful recent-purchase social proof.
Promote selected products or categories
The product controls can target particular products or categories and exclude items that should not appear. These notices are useful for merchandising, but they should be presented as promotional messages rather than as proof of a recent customer purchase.

Review the wording, product data, and image used by each notice before publishing. A visitor should be able to distinguish a real order notification from a manually selected or simulated promotion.
Set timing, frequency, and sound
Control display duration and intervals
Open Time Setting to configure whether notifications loop and how long each one remains visible. The documented controls support custom or random display durations and intervals between notices.

- Use a custom duration when you need predictable visibility.
- Use random duration or interval settings when repeated popups should feel less mechanical.
- Disable looping if a visitor should not see an ongoing stream of notices during one visit.
Configure sound
The Sound section controls an audible alert, if supported by the extension. Keep sound off unless visitors have a clear reason to expect it; unexpected audio can make a storefront feel intrusive, particularly on mobile.
Style the notification
Use Design Settings to match the popup to the storefront and keep it readable.

- Show or hide the close button.
- Offer a Don’t Show Again control.
- Make the product name or image link to the product page.
- Choose whether product ratings are shown.
- Set corner style and padding.
- Set text color.
- Select a template and animation.
Keep the product link enabled when the notification is intended to help shoppers reach the promoted item. Avoid animations or padding that obscure checkout controls, product details, or the cart on a small screen.

- Save the notification settings.
- Open each enabled page in a logged-out browser window or private window.
- Check the desktop and mobile layouts separately.
- Verify that the product name, image, rating, link, and order wording are correct.
- Confirm that exclusions prevent unwanted products or categories from appearing.
- Observe more than one timing interval to ensure looping and frequency behave as intended.
- Test the close and Don’t Show Again controls.
If real-order mode shows no notices, check whether the store has qualifying orders and whether the extension is enabled on the page you are testing. If the popup covers navigation or checkout, reduce its size, change its position or template, shorten its duration, or disable it on the affected page.

Choose by audience, event source, message type, scope, and control requirements. A storefront popup extension is not interchangeable with an internal staff alert or a webhook integration.
