In OBS, this is usually a provider’s Browser source; in Streamlabs Desktop, you can add a Stream Label source. A goal bar is not the same as a ranked leaderboard, and OBS does not handle donations itself.
Choose what the leaderboard should show
Start with the action you want to recognize and the display you want viewers to see. A provider’s platform integration determines which events it can track, so confirm the current event coverage before setting up the overlay.
- Ranked top supporters: Lists supporters by a ranking rule, such as top tipper. Check how the provider defines the ranking and period.
- Supporter label: Shows a selected name or value, such as a top tipper or highest donor. Streamlabs documents these among its Stream Labels options.
- Recent-support alert or list: Highlights incoming support rather than ranking supporters by amount.
- Goal bar: Shows progress toward a target. Streamlabs’ Tip Goal guide describes a goal amount and current total; that is not automatically a ranked leaderboard.
Streamlabs lists separate goal widgets for tips, Twitch and Kick subscriptions, YouTube memberships, Twitch Bits, YouTube Super Chats, and charity donations. That list describes its goal widgets, not a ranked leaderboard for every event. Confirm that the specific label or widget you choose supports your platform and event.
Add a supporter label in Streamlabs Desktop
- Open your scene in Streamlabs Desktop and add a Stream Label source.
- Give the source a recognizable name, then select the label type you want, such as top tip or highest donor if available for your setup.
- Customize its appearance and position it where it will not cover important stream content.
- Test the label with the provider’s available test method or a private test event. Confirm the right name and value appear before using it on a public stream.
Available labels can change as Streamlabs updates its product and platform integrations. Check the current label choices in the app and documentation for the event you intend to display.

Add a provider widget to OBS
OBS Studio does not receive donations directly. The OBS Project explains: “The OBS Project does not directly provide the facilities to receive donations for your stream in OBS Studio.” A donation provider or platform integration supplies the event handling and, where supported, the alert or leaderboard widget. See the OBS Project donation FAQ.
- Set up the relevant support event with a provider that supports your platform, then open its dashboard and copy the widget URL for the display you want.
- In OBS, select the scene where the leaderboard should appear. In Sources, select +, then choose Browser.
- Name the source, paste the widget URL into its URL field, and set a width and height appropriate for the overlay. Confirm the source properties and resize or position it in the preview.
- Test the display before going live. Check that the intended event updates the widget and that the overlay is legible in the scene.
Keep the widget URL private. Treat it like a dashboard link: do not show it on stream or share it publicly. If it is exposed, use the provider’s dashboard to regenerate or replace it if that option is available.

Use StreamLabels text files in other broadcasting software

- Install and sign in to the StreamLabels app.
- Choose an output folder for its label files.
- In your broadcasting software, add a text source that reads the file for the label you want to show.
- Keep StreamLabels running during the broadcast, then test that the text source refreshes when the relevant event occurs.

Test the overlay without exposing private information
- Confirm the source is in the scene that will actually be live.
- Check that the correct event, platform, and account are connected.
- Verify the result is a ranked list, a label, a recent-support display, or a goal bar as intended.
- Make sure text is readable at stream size and does not obscure essential content.
- Keep widget URLs and private dashboard details out of the visible scene.
- Check audio and video before a fundraising broadcast; the MDA streaming guide includes this general preparation advice.
Common problems and fixes
The leaderboard is blank or does not update
Check that the selected provider supports the event and platform, that the correct account is connected, and that the source uses the intended label or widget. If using StreamLabels text files, verify the app is running and that the text source points to the correct output file.

A goal bar appears instead of a ranked list
Choose a leaderboard or supporter label rather than a goal widget. A goal displays progress toward a target; it does not necessarily rank individual supporters.
The Browser source does not display correctly
Recheck the widget URL and the Browser source dimensions, then resize and reposition the source in the scene. Verify the widget in a private test before going live, and do not put its URL on screen.

The wrong kinds of support are counted
Review the provider’s event and platform settings. Tips, memberships, subscriptions, bits, and charity donations may be handled by different widgets or integrations; do not assume one widget tracks them all.
