You can add a metro or transit card to Samsung Wallet only if your local transit agency is supported. Open Samsung Wallet, go to Quick Access (or All), tap +, choose Transit Card, and follow the prompts to select your agency, payment method, and storage option. The menu and available cards vary by country, Wallet version, SIM or eSIM configuration, and transit agency.
Before you start
- Use an NFC-enabled Samsung Galaxy phone that supports Samsung Wallet and the relevant contactless transit system. Samsung documents Wallet support for Galaxy phones on its Samsung Wallet support page.
- Check that your transit agency appears in Wallet’s Transit Card list. There is no universal metro card that can be added to every Wallet.
- Have a default payment card available for the purchase flow; Samsung says one is required. The phone needs internet access to purchase a transit card.
Add a transit card in Samsung Wallet
- Open Samsung Wallet.
- In Quick Access, tap + and select Transit Card. Depending on the Wallet version, the option may be available through All. Samsung says an added card appears in Quick Access or under All in My Wallet (Samsung’s US transit-card FAQ).
- Select the transit agency, then review and accept its terms.
- Choose the available payment method. Samsung’s purchase flow requires a default payment card.
- Choose the offered storage and payment options, then authenticate with your fingerprint or Wallet password. The options can vary by region and setup; Samsung Korea’s guide, dated 2026-08-26, documents app storage and USIM storage (Samsung Korea’s regional guide).
- Wait for setup to finish and confirm the transit card appears in Wallet before travelling.
Use the card at a transit reader
Samsung says you can tap an added transit card on a reader without unlocking the phone. An internet connection is not required to use a card already added to Samsung Wallet, though it is required to purchase one (Samsung’s US transit-card FAQ). Your phone and the transit system must support the relevant NFC or contactless mode.
Check whether your metro card is supported
Transit-card availability depends on the agency and region, so a physical contactless card is not automatically eligible for Wallet. Samsung’s US FAQ currently lists Atlanta’s MARTA as a supported transit system; that US list does not establish support for other cities or countries. In Los Angeles, for example, LA Metro describes its agency-specific TAP card and app options on its official fare page. Check both Samsung Wallet’s Transit Card list and your agency’s current instructions before purchasing or trying to transfer a card.
Samsung’s regional guide says app-stored cards can use T-money and EZL, with support varying by app version. Those options are regional, not globally available.

Transfer or manage an existing card
Samsung’s US FAQ supports only one transit card per transit system in Samsung Wallet. It also describes a Transfer Physical Card option when the agency supports transfers. That does not mean every physical ticket or contactless card can be imported: transfer eligibility depends on the participating agency and card.

If Transit Card is missing or setup fails
- The option is not listed: Check whether the country or region, agency, phone model, Wallet version, and NFC support are eligible. Menu labels and participating agencies can change.
- Wallet asks about SIM or eSIM: Follow the storage options shown for your region and device. Some card types or storage methods have regional and app-version requirements.
- You cannot complete the purchase: Confirm that a default payment card is available and that the phone has an internet connection for purchase.
- Your physical card will not transfer: Check whether the agency supports Samsung Wallet’s transfer flow and whether your particular card qualifies. Contactless capability alone does not guarantee transfer support.
- The card is set up but does not work at the gate: Confirm the card appears in Wallet and that the phone and reader support the same contactless transit mode; consult the agency’s instructions for its readers and fares.
