Add the logo as an Image Source in the same scene, then move it above the video in the Sources list. Position and size it in the preview or with Edit Transform, and test the scene before streaming.
Set up a looping video and logo in one OBS scene
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, choose an existing scene or add one for the loop. A scene combines sources such as video and images. [OBS Sources Guide]
- Add the video loop. In the Sources dock, select the add-source control and choose Media Source. Select the video file and enable Loop in the source properties. OBS lists MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM among the supported formats. [OBS Media Sources]
- Add the logo. Use the add-source control to add an Image Source, then select the logo file. A transparent PNG is useful if the artwork should sit over the video without an opaque background; OBS’s guide documents image sources generally and does not prescribe a specific logo format. [OBS Sources Guide]
- Put the logo in front. In the Sources list, drag the logo above the Media Source. Sources higher in the list appear above lower sources in the preview. Confirm the logo’s eye icon is enabled. [OBS Sources Guide]
- Place and size the logo. Select it and drag its bounding box in the preview for quick placement. For exact position and size, use Edit → Transform → Edit Transform (Ctrl-E on Windows or Cmd-E on macOS). Avoid stretching the logo out of proportion. [OBS Sources Guide]
- Check the full composition. Watch the preview through the start and end of the video to confirm the loop and overlay behave as intended. Make a brief test recording or test stream before the broadcast; OBS recommends testing to catch configuration or performance issues. [OBS Quick Start Guide]
Use a playlist instead of one looping clip
For multiple clips, add a VLC Video Source rather than assuming the standard Media Source has playlist controls. OBS requires VLC to be installed for this source type to appear; on 64-bit OBS, its guide specifies 64-bit VLC. Loop Playlist is enabled by default and restarts the source after it runs out of media files. [OBS Media Sources]
| Choice | Best for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Media Source | One video file | Enable Loop so the file plays again when playback ends. |
| VLC Video Source | A playlist of clips | Install VLC first and check Loop Playlist. |
Optional transforms and cropping
OBS offers Fit to Screen, Stretch to Screen, and Center to Screen in the transform options. For a logo, preserve its proportions rather than stretching it to fill the canvas. To crop a source, hold Alt on Windows or Linux, or Option on macOS, while dragging a bounding-box handle. These changes affect the selected source, so check that the intended source is selected before transforming. [OBS Sources Guide]
Connect OBS to YouTube Live and test
Configure the streaming service and stream key in OBS using its current stream setup workflow; OBS’s guides cover service and key setup but do not establish whether a particular YouTube account is eligible to go live. Check YouTube’s current Live requirements and controls for account-specific eligibility and platform rules. Do not assume that completing the OBS setup grants YouTube Live access. Troubleshoot common overlay and loop problems
- The logo is hidden behind the video: Move the Image Source above the Media Source in the Sources list and check that its eye icon is enabled. [OBS Sources Guide]
- The video stops at the end: Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a playlist, use VLC Video Source and check Loop Playlist; confirm VLC is installed if that source type is missing. [OBS Media Sources]
- The logo is too large or distorted: Select the logo, adjust its bounding box or use Edit Transform, and preserve its proportions instead of stretching it. [OBS Sources Guide]
- OBS performance suffers: Keep the scene to the sources and filters the production needs. OBS notes that sources and filters consume resources; for a static logo, an Image Source is a simpler choice than a more complex browser overlay. [OBS Encoding Performance Troubleshooting]
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a 24/7 loop on YouTube, OBS means keeping your computer and connection running. StreamNeo is an alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a camera feed, and keeps the stream running from the cloud.
