To add Hindi text to an OBS YouTube stream, add a Text source, enter your Devanagari wording, choose an installed font that displays it correctly, then position the source in the preview. For a custom-designed overlay, use a Browser source instead. OBS can keep either overlay visible while it streams, but a 24/7 OBS broadcast depends on the streaming computer, internet connection, OBS setup and YouTube account remaining available.
Choose the right OBS source for your Hindi overlay

OBS includes text sources; you do not inherently need a third-party overlay service. Its documentation lists Text (GDI+) for Windows and Text (Freetype 2) for macOS and Linux. The listed default fonts—Arial, Helvetica and Sans Serif—are not guaranteed by that documentation to render Hindi correctly, so check the actual result on your streaming computer.
Add Hindi text with an OBS Text source
- In OBS, find the Sources dock, click +, and add a Text source. Choose the available text-source type for your operating system.
- In the source properties, type your Hindi wording in the Text field. To keep the wording in a separate file, enable Read from file and select that file.
- Choose a font installed on the streaming computer. Inspect the OBS preview for complete Devanagari characters, readable size, line wrapping and spacing. The OBS documentation permits font selection but does not certify a particular font or system configuration for Hindi.
- Drag the text into position in the preview and resize it as needed. If it is hidden behind the video or another graphic, move the text source higher in the Sources list; sources higher in the list appear above lower ones.
- If using a text file, test a wording change before relying on it during an unattended stream. OBS documentation does not establish a universal file-encoding requirement or update interval, so verify how your particular setup handles edits.
Use a Browser source for a custom layout
- Create or choose the web page or local HTML file that contains the Hindi overlay design.
- In the Sources dock, click + and add a Browser source.
- Set the source to use the page URL or local file, then set its width and height to the intended output dimensions.
- Check the OBS preview for correct Hindi rendering, layout and positioning. Adjust the browser viewport or page design if text is clipped or too small.
A Browser source is useful when the overlay needs web styling; it adds a dependency on the page or local file it loads. Neither method has a documented reliability or performance advantage over the other for this workflow.
Test before starting a long-running YouTube stream
- Confirm that the complete overlay is visible in the OBS preview and that it does not cover important video content.
- Check the YouTube Live Control Room preview before starting the broadcast, and run a test rather than assuming the OBS preview alone represents the audience view.
- Monitor audio and video quality during the stream. A 24/7 run is not guaranteed by the overlay setup: it depends on the computer, network, configuration and YouTube account.
- Check YouTube’s current live-stream eligibility requirements. Its help guidance says a creator needs a verified channel and no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days; platform rules can change.
Keep the Hindi overlay visible in a 24/7 stream
With OBS, the Text or Browser source is part of the scene being sent to YouTube. The streaming computer must remain on, OBS must continue running, and the internet connection and account must remain usable. The consulted platform guidance does not establish a universal maximum duration for a continuous stream or promise 24/7 uptime.

If instead you want to loop a finished video, render the Hindi text into that video before uploading it. An uploaded-video loop cannot provide a live camera feed or an editable OBS overlay during playback; changes to the wording require updating the video used for the loop.
