Miami Zero is a free update for Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, not a separate purchase. Update the base game to the latest build, launch it from an account that owns the game or has an eligible Xbox or PC Game Pass entitlement, and look for the Miami Zero campaign in the normal game menu. The developer has not published instructions confirming that an existing campaign or Endless save can be imported into Miami Zero, so keep the old save intact and treat the expansion as a separate campaign unless official migration guidance appears.
What you need before opening Miami Zero
Miami Zero launched on October 15, 2026, as a free digital update for owners of Quarantine Zone: The Last Check. The base game released on Steam on January 12, 2026. You do not buy Miami Zero as a second standalone game or install a separate executable.
- A current installation: The game must finish downloading and applying the Miami Zero update.
- A valid entitlement: You must own the original game or have an applicable Xbox or PC Game Pass entitlement.
- A supported platform: The announced platforms are Steam PC, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Xbox, including Xbox and PC Game Pass access.
- A protected save: Because migration from an earlier campaign has not been documented, preserve the old campaign or Endless data before experimenting with the new campaign.
If you installed the game before October 15, do not assume that the existing files already contain the expansion. Miami Zero is delivered through the title update, and the official launch notice specifically tells owners to update to the latest version before accessing its content.
How to access Miami Zero
- Confirm the account you are using. Sign in to the Steam, Xbox or Xbox app for PC account that owns Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, or that currently has the applicable Game Pass entitlement. A copy installed under a different account may not unlock the update’s campaign even if the files are present.
- Update the base game. Open your platform’s game library, select Quarantine Zone: The Last Check and allow every available update to complete. The official Steam announcement says: “Miami Zero is out NOW as a free update for all Quarantine Zone owners. Update your game to the latest version to access Miami Zero content.”
- Wait for installation and any post-update processing to finish. Do not start the game while the platform still shows a pending download, verification or installation step. A partially applied update can leave you running the older campaign files.
- Launch the normal game entry. Start Quarantine Zone: The Last Check from the same library entry you used before. The announcements describe Miami Zero as DLC and update content for the base game, not as a separate standalone purchase.
- Choose the Miami Zero campaign entry. After the update is recognized, inspect the game’s campaign or new-game menu for Miami Zero. The exact menu wording can vary by platform build, but you should not need a second product key or a separate launcher.
- Fully quit and relaunch if it is missing. Exit the game rather than leaving it suspended, wait for the platform to finish synchronizing and updating, then start it again. This is the first recovery step supported by the requirement that the latest version be installed.
The Xbox announcement states that Miami Zero is available on Xbox Series X|S and PC, including Xbox and PC Game Pass, and is free to all owners of the original game. That means an eligible subscription entitlement can provide access; you do not need to purchase the expansion separately when the entitlement is active.

Can an existing campaign or Endless save continue in Miami Zero?
There is no official confirmation that an earlier save imports into Miami Zero. The launch announcements do not promise campaign migration, shared save slots, cross-campaign unlocks or conversion of the original save format. They also do not state that an existing campaign or Endless run will be deleted. The accurate position is therefore narrower: migration is undocumented, and you should not rely on it.

This distinction matters because a new campaign can use its own starting state even when it is delivered through the same executable. Seeing Miami Zero in the menu does not prove that the old run was converted, and failing to see old objectives inside Miami Zero is not evidence that the original save was erased.

How to protect and continue your old save
Use this sequence before starting Miami Zero. It is conservative handling of an undocumented compatibility boundary, not a claim that the update damages saves.

If the old campaign or Endless session is active, allow the game to save and return to its main menu.
- Exit normally. Close the game through its own quit option so the latest save has time to write. Avoid forcing the process closed during a save operation.
- Allow synchronization to finish. On PC, wait for Steam Cloud or the relevant Xbox synchronization process to complete. On console, remain signed in until the platform reports that saved data is synchronized.
- Create a separate backup where the platform permits it. Keep a copy of the existing save data or use the platform’s supported backup facility. Do not move or rename files unless you understand how that platform restores them.
- Do not overwrite the old slot. If Miami Zero offers a new-game or campaign slot, choose a new entry rather than selecting the slot containing your established run.
- Verify the old campaign first. Before beginning the expansion, open the original campaign menu and confirm that the previous run is still listed. Then return to the main menu and choose Miami Zero.
- Keep the two campaigns conceptually separate. If Miami Zero starts with its own introduction, objectives or inventory, continue from that campaign’s entry. Do not expect the old character state, unlocks or Endless progress to appear unless the developer later documents that behavior.
If you switch devices, complete cloud synchronization on the original device before launching on the second one. A cloud copy is useful for recovery, but it is not the same as an announced cross-campaign migration feature.

What to do when Miami Zero does not appear
The update is not offered
- Open the library entry for Quarantine Zone: The Last Check and check for pending downloads.
- Leave the platform online until the update has downloaded, installed and completed any file verification.
- Restart the platform’s game client if it still displays the pre-October 15 build.
- Launch the same base-game entry again; do not search for a second Miami Zero application.
The game starts, but the campaign is absent
- Quit completely instead of suspending the game.
- Reopen the library and confirm that the installation is current.
- Check that you are signed in with the owning account or the account carrying the eligible Game Pass entitlement.
- Start the game again after synchronization completes.
- Do not delete local saves as a first troubleshooting step. Deleting data can remove the recovery option you are trying to preserve.
The old save is not visible after the update
Stop testing and check synchronization or backup status before creating or replacing slots. The official announcements do not define how old and Miami Zero saves are stored, so experimenting by overwriting files can make it harder to determine whether the issue is a display problem, a different account or a missing synchronized copy.
You installed Patch #1 but still see a problem
Miami Zero Patch #1 was announced on October 16, 2026, after launch feedback. Confirm that the patch itself finished installing, then repeat the full-quit and entitlement checks. The patch notice addresses Miami-specific launch issues but does not promise that it resolves save migration or creates an import option.

The game is available through a subscription
Verify that the subscription entitlement is active on the account launching the game. If the entitlement has changed, the platform may allow the installed files to remain while withholding access. The Xbox announcement identifies Xbox and PC Game Pass as supported access routes, but it does not describe behavior after an entitlement expires or changes.

What Miami Zero adds
Miami Zero is a prequel campaign set in Miami at the origin of the outbreak. Its content is substantial enough to justify treating it as a distinct campaign rather than as a small mission pack.
- New inspection mechanics: The expansion adds new ways to examine people and identify threats.
- New symptoms and checks: The campaign introduces additional symptoms, including drug-contraband checks.
- New equipment and tools: The official announcements describe tools designed for the Miami scenario.
- More survivors: The Xbox announcement specifies over 30 unique survivors, while the Steam announcement describes dozens of campaign-exclusive survivors.
- Research systems: A research centre and a new medicine research-and-development system expand the management layer.
- Ship-repair objective: Repairing a yacht or ship runs across the campaign as a longer-term metagame.
- Dynamic weather: Weather changes are part of the Miami setting.
- New locations and activities: Areas include a pier, city streets and a music festival, alongside new minigames and quests.
These additions explain why the expansion may present its own campaign entry and starting conditions. They do not, however, establish that progress, inventory or unlocks from the original campaign are transferable.

Bottom line for returning players
Update Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, launch the normal game from the entitled account and choose Miami Zero from its campaign menu. You do not need to buy the DLC separately. Because no official source confirms campaign or Endless-save migration, finish or safely pause the old run, synchronize and back it up where possible, and leave its slot untouched. Continue the original campaign from its existing entry and begin Miami Zero as a separate campaign unless Brigada Games publishes explicit instructions that change this behavior.
