Use the official Post Office branch finder, then check that branch’s service list and opening times before travelling. A Banking Hub may help with some cash and banking tasks, but it is not a replacement for a Post Office branch.
Find another branch that offers your service
- Identify the task. Note whether you need to post or collect a parcel, access a counter service, or complete a banking transaction.
- Search the branch finder. Enter your location in the Post Office branch finder and review nearby results.
- Check the individual listing. Confirm the specific service is available and check the opening times for the day you plan to visit. Services and hours vary by location.
- Check alternatives before setting out. A nearby branch may not offer the same service menu as the branch that is closed.
When a Banking Hub can help—and when it cannot
Post Office’s guidance is clear: “No. While they’re operated by Post Office, Banking Hubs aren’t regular Post Office branches.” A Banking Hub provides in-person banking and cash services, not the full range of Post Office counter services.
Post Office specifically says Banking Hubs do not handle posting letters or parcels, insurance, travel money, or identity services. For those tasks, look for another Post Office branch and verify its listing.
As a dated snapshot, Post Office’s 2025 Network Report recorded 145 Banking Hubs and 2 Cash Hubs open as of March 2025. These figures describe that date, not the number open now. The report describes a Cash Hub as a location offering essential banking services where there is no nearby Post Office branch.

For cash and banking, check the exact transaction
Post Office branches can support specified over-the-counter banking tasks, including cash withdrawals, cash deposits, cheque deposits, and balance enquiries. Which services are available depends on the bank and transaction. Check Post Office’s everyday banking information and your bank’s details for the branch or Banking Hub you plan to use.
For a Banking Hub, confirm that your bank participates and that the service you need is offered at that location. Check local opening times too; a hub is useful only if it supports the transaction and is open when you can visit.

For parcels, match the carrier and service
Parcel options differ between branches. Post Office says Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide services are generally available subject to specified branch exceptions, while DPD and Evri are available only at selected branches. Some branch types also have restricted mail services. Check the branch finder for the exact carrier and task—posting, returns, or collection—before you travel. Collecting a Royal Mail Local Collect parcel
Participating Post Office branches can receive Royal Mail Local Collect deliveries when you select that option at the retailer. To collect, bring accepted identification and the tracking ID. Post Office states that Royal Mail parcels are held for 18 days and Parcelforce Worldwide parcels for 15 days; confirm the applicable instructions for your delivery in the collection guidance.

If there is no suitable Banking Hub nearby
If your problem is access to in-person banking or cash services, a community can request an Access to Cash review through LINK. This is a route for assessing local cash access, not an immediate appointment or a way to obtain unrelated Post Office services such as posting, travel money, insurance, or identity services.

- Check the individual listing’s hours for your planned visit.
- For banking, verify bank participation and the specific transaction.
- For a parcel, verify the carrier, service, and any collection requirements.
