To access Haunted by Daylight, launch the live Dead by Daylight client while the event is active, open the Haunted by Daylight interface or Event Tome, and enter a normal Trial as a Survivor or Killer. When the Trial begins, a portal to the Void Realm opens for every player. You can also locate a Void Rift and open it by spending Void Energy.
The event is not a separate game mode or downloadable product. Its challenges, currency and rewards are layered onto regular Trials, so you enter through the current game client and then use the event objects that appear in the Trial.
Check that Haunted by Daylight is live
Haunted by Daylight is a limited-time event. The exact 2026 start and end dates are not established in the available official announcement, so the in-game event banner is the authoritative timing reference for your account and region. Behaviour Interactive’s October 13, 2026 announcement confirms changes to Haunted by Daylight scoring events, but it does not provide a complete 2026 schedule.

Before looking for a portal or Rift, start the current version of Dead by Daylight and check the main menu for a Haunted by Daylight banner, event tile or Event Tome entry. If none of those appears, the event may not yet be live, may have ended, or the client may not have finished applying its current update.
What you need
- An installed, updated copy of the live Dead by Daylight client.
- Access to the normal Survivor or Killer Trial queue.
- An active Haunted by Daylight event in the in-game banner or menu.
You do not need a separate application, physical item or Amazon product to enter the event. Dark Trinkets are an in-game currency earned through event progress.
Open the Haunted by Daylight interface or Event Tome
From the main menus, select the Haunted by Daylight event entry. Depending on the event build and the menu layout currently installed, this may be presented as a dedicated event interface or as the Event Tome. The Event Tome is where the event’s challenges and progression are exposed.

Behaviour Interactive’s 7.3.1 patch notes state that the event tome opens when the event reaches its start time. That means you should not expect the tome to be selectable before the live start, even if the game has already downloaded the relevant content.
What to look for in the event screen
- Event Tome: the challenge and level progression used to earn Dark Trinkets.
- Gameplay details: a tab described in the 7.3.0 notes that explains event-specific play mechanics.
- Collection: the destination for spending Dark Trinkets on event cosmetics and charms.
- Milestone rewards: Collection-related rewards described in the 7.3.0 notes.
You do not have to finish a challenge before entering a Trial. Open the event screen first if you want to see which actions advance your selected objectives, then queue normally.
Enter a Trial and use the Void entrance
- Choose Play as Survivor or Play as Killer from the normal game menus.
- Enter a standard Trial while Haunted by Daylight is active.
- At the beginning of the Trial, look for the event portal. The official guide states:
At the onset of a Trial, a portal to the Void Realm will open to all players.
- Use that portal when you reach it to enter the Void Realm, or continue through the Trial until you find a Void Rift.
The portal is a Trial-start access point, not an item that must be unlocked in the lobby. Every player receives the opportunity when the Trial begins. The Trial still follows its ordinary Survivor or Killer objective; the event adds Void interactions and rewards around it.

Open a Void Rift with Void Energy
Void Rifts are another route into the Void Realm. A Rift must be opened with Void Energy, the event resource generated by actions during a Trial. If you do not see the start-of-Trial portal or prefer to use a Rift later, search the map for the event Rift and interact with it once you have enough Void Energy.
How to generate Void Energy
The official event guide lists the following event interactions as sources of Void Energy:

Because both sides have listed ways to earn energy, you can participate in Haunted by Daylight regardless of which role you queue. The most reliable approach is to perform the event action when it appears naturally in your route rather than abandoning the Trial’s primary objective to search indefinitely.

What happens in the Void Realm
The Void Realm is the event space reached through the opening portal or a Void Rift. The 2025 official guide describes role-specific effects that matter immediately after entry.
Killer effect
While in the Void Realm, Killers lose their Terror Radius. Survivors therefore cannot rely on the usual audible Terror Radius warning while the Killer is inside that space. Treat the absence of the warning as an event effect, not proof that the Killer has left the Trial.
Survivor hazard
Survivors can encounter Haunts in the Void Realm. Haunts can apply the Hindered effect, reducing movement speed for the affected Survivor. Watch the space around the entrance and the route through the Realm instead of treating it as a risk-free shortcut.

Limited-time Void items
The 2025 guide also lists limited-time Void items as part of the event mechanics. Their availability and exact behavior can vary with the event build, so use the current event’s gameplay-details tab for the labels and interactions shown in your client.
Use the Event Tome to earn Dark Trinkets
Haunted by Daylight progression is tied to the Event Tome. Completing its challenges and advancing its levels awards Dark Trinkets. The currency is digital and exists only inside the game; it is not a physical token and is not required to unlock the Trial portal.
Spend the currency in Collection
- Open the Haunted by Daylight Event Tome or event interface from the main menu.
- Complete the available event challenges during Survivor or Killer Trials.
- Claim the Dark Trinkets awarded by challenge and level progression.
- Open the Collection screen.
- Use Dark Trinkets on the event cosmetics and charms shown there.
The 7.3.1 notes describe Dark Trinkets as the currency for these event rewards. The 7.3.0 notes additionally describe Collection milestone rewards, so check both the currency balance and any milestone track rather than assuming every reward is purchased individually.

Daily-login rewards reported for the 2025 event
The 2025 official guide reported a total of 100 Dark Trinkets, 1,000,000 Bloodpoints and 1,000 Iridescent Shards for players who logged in every day during that event. Those figures were tied to the 2025 daily-login offer; they should not be treated as a guaranteed 2026 reward unless the current event screen displays the same terms.

Older guides can look inconsistent because the event presentation has changed between builds. The mechanics described in the official 7.3.0 and 7.3.1 notes explain the main differences you may encounter in menus:

Troubleshoot a missing event entry or portal
The Event Tome is not visible
First compare the menu with the in-game event banner. If the banner does not identify Haunted by Daylight as active, the tome is not expected to be open. If the banner says the event is live but the tome is absent, close and relaunch the client so the current menu state reloads, then check the event interface again.
The event interface is present but the Trial has no portal
The documented portal appears at the onset of a Trial. Confirm that you entered a normal Trial after the event became active, then look around the opening area for the event entrance. If you miss it, a Void Rift remains an alternative route when you have earned enough Void Energy.
You cannot open a Void Rift
A Rift requires Void Energy. Collect Void Orbs, destroy Pumpkins, and perform the role-specific actions listed in the event guide before trying again. Survivors can generate energy through generator repairs and successful stuns or blinds; Killers can generate it by downing and hooking Survivors.

Challenge completion and reward spending are separate steps. Claim the Event Tome progression first, then open Collection and look for the event cosmetic or charm. Collection milestones may also have their own reward track in builds that include the 7.3.0-style interface.
The event date is unclear
Do not rely on a dated guide from another event year for the current schedule. The available 2026 announcement does not state the full start and end window, so use the live banner in your client and the current official announcement as the timing authority.
What to do when Haunted by Daylight ends
Haunted by Daylight access depends on the event being active. Once the event window closes, the portal, Void Rifts and event interactions are no longer expected to be available in ordinary Trials. The official material supplied for this guide does not establish a universal post-event conversion rule for unused Dark Trinkets, so check the closing notice and your Collection screen rather than assuming leftover currency will be converted or retained.
