Live Nation makes money through three connected but distinct businesses: promoting concerts and operating venues, providing ticketing services through Ticketmaster, and selling sponsorships and advertising. In 2025, Concerts generated the most reported revenue, while Ticketing and Sponsorship & Advertising added separate sources of income around ticket sales, venues, events and digital channels. The accounting matters: Ticketing generally records service fees rather than ticket face value, while concert-promotion revenue and event costs follow a different model.
How Live Nation’s businesses fit together
Live Nation reports three segments: Concerts, Ticketing and Sponsorship & Advertising. Concerts promotes live music, operates or manages venues and festivals, and provides artist-related services. Ticketing provides software and ticketing services to clients and operates a consumer ticket marketplace. Sponsorship & Advertising sells programs to brands and advertisers across events, venues and digital distribution.
The businesses can serve different roles around the same event: Concerts helps create and promote a show, a venue provides the place and related services, Ticketing facilitates access, and sponsorship sells brands opportunities to reach fans. They remain distinct reporting segments, and their revenue figures do not all represent the same kind of transaction.

| Segment | Reported 2025 revenue | Share of consolidated revenue | Reported 2025 AOI | Role and revenue basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Concerts | $20.861 billion | 82.8% | $687 million | Promotes events and operates venues and festivals. Promotion revenue comes primarily from ticket sales; event-related costs, including artist fees and production, are substantial. |
| Ticketing | $3.081 billion | 12.2% | $1.134 billion | Provides ticketing services and a consumer marketplace. In agency sales, revenue is generally the fees Live Nation earns, not the ticket’s face value. |
| Sponsorship & Advertising | $1.329 billion | 5.3% | $845 million | Sells brand and advertising programs connected to events, venues and digital channels. |
| Consolidated total | $25.201 billion | 100% | $2.366 billion | Total company figures reported in the 2025 Form 10-K segment table. |
The AOI figures should not be read as ordinary operating income or as directly comparable across companies without checking definitions. Live Nation’s filing defines AOI by excluding specified acquisition expenses, amortization of non-recoupable ticketing contract advances, depreciation and amortization, disposal gains or losses, stock compensation, and certain specified settlement and regulatory-compliance expenses.
How concert promotion makes money—and why revenue is not profit
Live Nation’s Concerts segment promotes shows in venues it owns or operates as well as in rented third-party venues. It also produces festivals, operates venues, creates associated content, and provides management and other services to artists. The company says it earns primarily through ticket sales as a promoter.
Artist payment arrangements can include a fixed guarantee, a share of ticket sales, a share of event profits, or a combination. Artist fees and production costs are substantial direct costs. As a result, a change in gross event revenue does not automatically produce the same percentage change in operating income: the promoter’s costs and the terms of each event matter.

Rank #2
For 2025, Live Nation reported promoting approximately 55,000 live music and other events and shows for approximately 11,000 artists globally. It said more than 96% of Concerts revenue was recognized on the event date. These are company-reported figures for 2025, not general annual averages.
How Ticketmaster fits into the business
Ticketing provides software and services to clients and gives consumers an online and mobile marketplace for tickets and event information. Live Nation’s stated client base includes venues, concert promoters, professional sports franchises and leagues, college sports teams, performing arts venues, museums and theaters.
Fees, not face value, are the key distinction
Ticketing revenue includes convenience, order-processing and service charges in primary and secondary markets. A significant portion of service charges is payable to venues and credit-card vendors. In agency sales, Live Nation records its fees rather than the ticket’s face value. That makes the Ticketing segment’s reported revenue a different accounting base from a promoter’s gross ticket sales; comparing the figures without that distinction can mislead.

For Live Nation-promoted events where it controls ticketing, the filing says ticket fee revenue is recognized when the event occurs because the company also has an obligation to deliver the event to the fan.
Tickets distributed are not all fee-bearing sales
In 2025, Live Nation reported 646 million tickets distributed through Ticketmaster systems. It separately reported approximately 346 million tickets sold through its services on which it received fees and approximately 300 million additional tickets sold using its systems for which it received no fee, including some season-seat packages, client box-office sales and other channels. The distribution total therefore should not be treated as a count of fee-bearing tickets.
How venues contribute beyond hosting a show
Venues give Live Nation another set of event-related operations and commercial opportunities. Depending on its role at a particular venue, the company may earn from concessions, merchandise, parking, ticket-related rebates or service charges, and venue rental. It uses venues it owns or operates as well as rented third-party venues, so the available revenue sources and its responsibilities can vary by arrangement.

At the end of 2025, Live Nation reported relationships with 460 venues globally through ownership, operation, exclusive booking rights or an equity interest, and said it operated across 55 countries. The 460 count combines these different relationships; it does not mean the company wholly owns every venue included.

Sponsorship & Advertising is a separate reportable segment. Live Nation sells international, national, regional and local programs to advertisers and brands. Examples in the company’s filing include venue and festival naming rights, onsite signage, web and in-app advertising, category-exclusive partnerships, presales and onsite product activation.
For 2025, the company reported approximately 830 sponsorship sales staff working with more than 1,500 sponsors. This is a business-to-business commercial layer around its events, venues and digital distribution; the filing’s description does not establish a consumer affiliate scheme.

What the figures say—and what they do not
Concerts accounts for the largest reported revenue share, but the Ticketing segment reported higher AOI than Concerts in 2025 despite its much smaller revenue base. This illustrates why segment revenue alone does not show the full economics of the business. It also does not make AOI a substitute for a consistently defined profit measure: AOI is Live Nation’s non-GAAP metric and reflects the exclusions specified in its filing.
Live Nation describes its strategy in the 2025 Form 10-K as: “Our strategy is to grow the global live entertainment industry by connecting artists with their fans, selling more tickets and partnering with additional sponsors.” The three segments express that strategy through different activities and different revenue mechanics.
