The launch announced convenient AI features, including side-button access and actions across select apps, but it did not quantify revenue, market-share gains, or other commercial benefits for either company.
What Samsung and Google announced
Samsung announced the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra on January 22, 2025, describing the series as its first step toward a multimodal AI experience. The phones use a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, according to Samsung’s launch announcement.
Google said Gemini could be opened on Samsung devices by pressing the side button. The integration brought together Google services and Samsung apps in the phone’s software environment, rather than making the companies’ products interchangeable. Google outlined the Gemini features in its Android announcement.
How to use Gemini on a Galaxy S25
- Press and hold the phone’s side button to access Gemini, as described by Google for Samsung devices.
- Ask Gemini for help in a supported app or service. Google named Google Maps, YouTube, Google Messages and Spotify, along with Samsung Reminder, Calendar, Notes and Clock, as available extensions.
- Review what Gemini proposes before sending a message or taking another consequential action. Google’s example combined finding restaurants in Maps with drafting a message in Google Messages; the announcement describes a capability, not a guarantee that every action will work in every region, app version or account context.
Google also described Gemini Live as a spoken, conversational experience. At rollout, users could add images, files and YouTube videos to a conversation. Feature availability can vary, so an announced capability should not be taken as confirmation that it is active on every device or account.

What the Gemini partnership adds to the phones
Cross-app help
The extensions connect Gemini with selected Google and Samsung apps. That gives the assistant a way to work across services—for example, locating a restaurant and preparing a message—without implying unrestricted access to every app or automatic completion of every task.
More visible Android features
Google announced updates to the Now Bar, including sports information and Maps directions, as well as expanded Circle to Search features. Those included visual-search AI Overviews and one-tap actions for phone numbers, email addresses and URLs. These are Android capabilities presented as part of the S25 experience, not evidence that Google alone produced the phone’s overall AI system.

| ProScaler | Samsung reported a 40% improvement in display image-scaling quality. | This is a Samsung-reported improvement; the launch material does not supply independent measurement results. |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra camera | Samsung described an upgraded 50MP ultrawide sensor, compared with 12MP on the previous generation. | This camera detail applies to the Ultra model, not the whole S25 family. |
What “win big” means—and what it does not prove
For Samsung, the collaboration put Google’s Gemini capabilities into Samsung hardware and software while the company promoted its own Galaxy AI features and customized chipset. For Google, the launch placed Gemini and Android features on Samsung’s new flagship phones and connected the assistant to selected Samsung apps. That is a product and strategic benefit visible in the launch announcements.
It is not evidence of a measurable business win. The launch materials do not quantify incremental sales, revenue, market share, user adoption or financial value for either company. They document the collaboration and announced features, not the commercial outcome.

Launch-era availability and offer
Samsung said Gemini was available at launch in 46 languages; its support footnote lists the languages, and support for an individual feature may vary. Samsung also announced six months of Gemini Advanced and 2TB of cloud storage at no extra cost as a launch offer. That was a historical promotion, not confirmation of a current subscription term or deal.
Samsung’s later availability notice said the S25 series would be available worldwide beginning February 7, 2025. Current pricing, stock and promotions are not established by those launch-era announcements.
