Eligible YouTube channels can create a YouTube Giving fundraiser in YouTube Studio, choose an eligible nonprofit, attach a scheduled livestream, and publish it. During the event, viewers can donate from the watch page or live chat. The channel and the nonprofit must qualify separately, so check both before promoting the fundraiser.
Check whether your channel can use YouTube Giving
YouTube’s eligibility rules require a channel to meet all four of these conditions:
- Its channel location is in a country or region where YouTube Giving is available.
- It has at least 10,000 subscribers.
- It is a YouTube Partner Program member.
- It is not designated as made for kids.
Availability can change, and an omitted country should not be assumed eligible. Check the current YouTube Giving FAQs and your account’s YouTube Studio. YouTube notes that some channels outside the listed criteria may still see fundraising access; check Earn > Giving in Studio.
Check that the nonprofit is eligible
YouTube Giving’s recipient rules are separate from the channel requirements. The nonprofit must be a US-registered 501(c)(3) public charity, be requested by a creator, have opted in to online fundraising through GuideStar, comply with YouTube monetization policies, and participate in Google for Nonprofits. Private foundations are not currently supported.

If you cannot find the organization, check its legal name and any “doing business as” name, along with its eligibility and online fundraising opt-in. Some requests to add an eligible nonprofit can take up to five business days. The Google for Nonprofits instructions explain the recipient requirements in Fundraise for Nonprofits using YouTube Giving.
Create and publish the fundraiser
- Open the fundraiser tool. In YouTube Studio, go to Earn > Giving > Get started > Create a fundraiser. You can also begin from Live Control Room under Advanced Settings.
- Choose the recipient. Select an eligible nonprofit, or request one that is missing.
- Enter the fundraiser details. Add a title and description. Set a donation goal and duration if they suit the campaign; these are optional.
- Attach the scheduled livestream. Select the live event the fundraiser should appear on.
- Publish. The Donate button appears after the fundraiser’s start date. YouTube’s setup guide has the current workflow at Set up a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
Set up the campaign before the event so you have time to confirm the nonprofit, event link, and donation surface before asking viewers to use it.

Plan how viewers will donate
Viewers can donate from the livestream’s watch page or in live chat. Chat must be enabled for the live-chat Donate button to appear. Mobile viewers need to use portrait mode to see chat.
Live Chat Donations replaced Super Chat for Good. On streams using Live Chat Donations, Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable, and members-only live chat cannot be used with the Donate button. Check those constraints when deciding how to configure chat and explain the donation option to viewers. Monitor donations during and after the event
During the livestream, a producer can follow donations in chat and in Live Control Room’s Viewer Activity Widget. Afterward, open YouTube Studio > Earn > Giving for basic fundraiser totals and details.
Explain donation processing clearly
When donating, viewers choose an amount and payment method, and can choose whether their username appears publicly in live chat. If they do not display it, the donation amount appears as “Anonymous.” YouTube says creators and nonprofits do not see donor personal information, and donors receive an emailed receipt after processing. Donations are non-refundable.

YouTube says it pays transaction fees, so 100% of donations go to the eligible nonprofit. Google partners with Network for Good to collect and distribute donations at Google’s request, and the nonprofit must opt in to receive the funds. The cited English-language US help pages do not specify a precise payout schedule, so do not promise a disbursement date. Nor should you promise tax deductibility for an individual donor or jurisdiction; direct donors to their receipt and appropriate tax guidance. Use an external fundraising route if YouTube Giving is unavailable
If your channel or intended recipient cannot use YouTube Giving, an external fundraising service may be an alternative. Google for Nonprofits identifies sites such as GoFundMe and JustGiving for links from video end screens. That guidance concerns end-screen links; it does not establish a direct livestream donation integration. Before choosing a provider, verify its current link rules, fees, terms, and how donations are processed. You can also use YouTube’s end-screen guidance through Reach new audiences & engage your supporters using YouTube.

Common problems and what to check
- You do not see Giving in Studio: Check channel location, subscriber count, YouTube Partner Program membership, and audience designation. Also check the channel’s Earn > Giving area, since some channels outside the listed criteria may still have access.
- The nonprofit does not appear: Verify its US 501(c)(3) public charity status, legal or DBA name, GuideStar online fundraising opt-in, and Google for Nonprofits participation. A request can take up to five business days.
- The Donate button is missing: Confirm the fundraiser has started; the button appears after its start date. Check that the channel is not designated as made for kids. For a live-chat Donate button, make sure chat is enabled.
- Mobile viewers cannot find Donate in chat: Ask them to view chat in portrait mode.
- Viewers expect Super Chat or members-only chat: Live Chat Donations cannot be combined with Super Chat, Super Stickers, or members-only live chat.
