After you upload your videos to Gyre, its servers send the stream to YouTube. Your connection is needed to upload those files and manage the service, but Gyre’s published guidance does not set a minimum home upload speed for Indian users.
Does Gyre use your internet while it streams?
Not for the ongoing broadcast, according to Gyre’s explanation of its cloud workflow: Gyre receives and forwards the stream from its own server, so your computer is not part of the broadcast itself. Gyre’s 2026 explanation describes the process as uploading prerecorded videos, choosing a playlist, connecting the channel, and starting the broadcast.
Your home connection is still used to upload the source files to Gyre storage and to access and manage the service. Gyre’s Help Center says every video file must be uploaded to its storage, including content previously uploaded to YouTube. Its video-preparation guidance does not specify a minimum upload speed or a target upload time.
Do you need 10 Mbps upload for Gyre?
There is no published basis for saying that you need a 10 Mbps home upload plan just to keep a Gyre stream running. The commonly quoted Mbps figures are recommended bitrates for a live encoder sending a feed to YouTube—not broadband-plan requirements for uploading files to Gyre.

YouTube’s live encoder guidance recommends testing upload bitrate and lists these ingestion rates:
| Output | H.264 recommended bitrate | AV1/H.265 recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 8 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps | 12 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s recommended encoder-to-YouTube rates, not a measured minimum for an Indian connection and not a Gyre upload threshold. They matter when an encoder on your own computer is sending a live feed directly to YouTube. With Gyre, the continuous feed comes from Gyre’s servers after the source files have been uploaded.

What upload speed do you need to upload videos to Gyre?
That depends on the size of your video library and how quickly you want it transferred. A faster sustained upstream connection can shorten the initial upload, but the available Gyre guidance does not name a required minimum, and the cited sources do not establish an India-wide speed tier.
- Check your sustained upload rate. YouTube recommends running a speed test when evaluating an encoder’s upload bitrate. For a Gyre setup, use the measured upload rate to estimate file-transfer time rather than treating an encoder bitrate as a home-plan minimum.
- Use your actual file sizes. Estimate how long your videos will take to upload based on their total size and your sustained upstream rate. Allow for variation in real-world speeds; the available sources do not provide a guaranteed upload-time formula or target.
- Upload the complete source library to Gyre. Gyre says files must be in its storage before they can be used to create a stream, even if they were previously uploaded to YouTube.
If you need a planning aid, StreamNeo offers a separate upload-time calculator. It is a general file-transfer estimate, not a Gyre speed requirement.

What video settings does Gyre publish?
Gyre’s Help Center lists these preparation values for HD and Full HD videos: 1280×720 or 1920×1080 resolution, H.264 video, 3072–6144 kbps video bitrate, 128 kbps audio, and 30 fps. These are vendor-published preparation settings, not a broadband-speed recommendation. See Gyre’s video-preparation guidance.
The same article contains a phrase that associates “Frame rates” with “44.1 kHz.” Kilohertz is an audio sampling-rate unit, not a video frame-rate unit, so that phrase should not be read as a frame-rate setting. Gyre also says its built-in converter can optimize files that do not meet its platform requirements.

Gyre versus streaming directly from a computer
| Question | Gyre cloud workflow | Direct local encoder |
|---|---|---|
| Where does the continuous video feed come from? | Gyre’s servers, after source videos are uploaded. | Your computer’s encoder sends the feed to YouTube. |
| When is your home upload connection used? | For the initial video-file upload and service management; no continuous home upload is needed for the broadcast. | Continuously while the encoder sends the live feed. |
| What do YouTube’s recommended encoder bitrates describe? | Not the required speed of your home plan for Gyre. | The rate for the encoder’s feed to YouTube; YouTube advises testing upload bitrate. |
The distinction is the source of the live feed: your home connection for a local encoder, or Gyre’s servers after upload for Gyre.
