For a Google Cloud G2 g2-standard-8 with one NVIDIA L4 GPU, the published compute rate works out to about $623.14 for 730 hours on demand or $355.19 at the listed Spot rate. Those figures cover compute only—not a complete bill—and Spot capacity is not a dependable basis for an uninterrupted channel. Your all-in cost also depends on the full VM price, region, storage, and outbound data transfer.

What the published Google Cloud example costs

Google Cloud’s accelerator-optimized pricing page lists these hourly rates for a G2 g2-standard-8 with one NVIDIA L4 GPU. Multiplying each rate by an assumed 730 operating hours gives the monthly compute illustrations below; they are arithmetic based on the listed rates, not provider quotes or results from a tested workload.

Billing option Listed rate 730-hour compute estimate What to keep in mind
On demand $0.853624312 per hour Approximately $623.14 Compute example only; other charges can apply.
Spot $0.486565857 per hour at the listed current rate Approximately $355.19 Spot price and capacity can change; this is not guaranteed continuous capacity.

See Google Cloud’s accelerator-optimized VM pricing for current published rates. The page says it does not cover disk and images, networking, sole-tenant nodes, or VM instance pricing. Your total can therefore be higher, and region and configuration matter. Check Google Cloud’s current pricing calculator and account-specific rates for the deployment you intend to run.

Why 4K60 bandwidth affects the bill

YouTube Help recommends an ingest bitrate of 35 Mbps for 4K/2160p at 60 fps with AV1 or H.265, or 50 Mbps with H.264. Its listed minimums are 10 Mbps for AV1/H.265 and 14 Mbps for H.264. These are YouTube encoder-setting recommendations, not a promise that a particular VM, GPU, or software setup will perform reliably.

ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GDDR7 OC Edition Gaming Graphics Card
  • AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
  • OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
  • Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
  • Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
  • A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis

At those recommended rates, continuously sending the stream represents roughly 15.75 decimal GB per hour at 35 Mbps or 22.5 decimal GB per hour at 50 Mbps, before protocol overhead. The actual billable amount depends on the provider’s measurement and billing rules. Confirm both the chosen VM’s outbound bandwidth limit and the applicable transfer price; Google’s G2 documentation provides machine-type-specific maximum egress information.

YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1, with frame rates up to 60 fps. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says it should not exceed four seconds. YouTube automatically transcodes a live stream into output formats for viewers. For 4K, the low-latency option is unavailable, so the stream uses normal latency. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate guidance.

Build an all-in 24/7 budget

A 24/7 channel uses about 730 hours in a typical monthly budgeting assumption. Treat the hourly GPU figure as one line item, then verify the rest against the exact region and configuration you plan to run.

  • Full machine: Check whether the quoted price includes CPU and memory charges as well as the GPU. The cited Google GPU page explicitly excludes VM instance pricing.
  • Storage and images: Add the disk and any image-related charges for your deployment.
  • Outbound networking: Estimate egress from your actual configured bitrate and continuous runtime, then apply the relevant transfer price. Verify the VM’s egress ceiling as well.
  • Billing mode: On-demand is the clearer reference for a continuously running instance. Spot is cheaper at the cited rate but has price and capacity volatility; do not budget it as uninterrupted service unless you have an appropriate failover plan.
  • Operating plan: Restarts, maintenance, redundancy, and any time the instance is stopped can change both billable hours and continuity. A single instance and a redundant design do not have the same cost or availability assumptions.

There is no universal monthly price: provider, region, machine configuration, billing mode, storage, and networking all affect the total. The figures above illustrate compute for one Google Cloud configuration; they do not establish an all-in cost or confirm that a particular cloud GPU setup can encode your content reliably. No cloud VM workload benchmark is available here.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube stream of uploaded videos rather than operating a GPU VM, StreamNeo is a managed alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Its cloud service loops the uploaded video, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on.

  • One flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
  • Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free with no card required; one free day per account.
  • Monthly service: $9.99 per month.

That is a different cost model from renting and operating a cloud GPU: StreamNeo provides an always-on YouTube stream for uploaded videos, not a general-purpose GPU VM or a camera-based live feed. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
