There is no separate subscriber threshold for a 24/7 stream. The channel must also meet one of YouTube’s watch-time or Shorts-view routes, and YouTube must approve it after review.
Subscriber and viewing thresholds for ad revenue
YouTube’s current official eligibility guidance, accessed in 2026, offers two routes to the ad-revenue tier:
| Route | Requirement | Measurement period |
|---|---|---|
| Public watch hours | 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 qualified public watch hours | Last 12 months |
| Shorts views | 1,000 subscribers and 10 million qualified Shorts views | Last 90 days |
These are alternative viewing thresholds, but both routes require 1,000 subscribers. Watch time from the Shorts feed does not count toward the 4,000-hour requirement. See YouTube’s Partner Program overview and eligibility rules.
Can a 24/7 livestream count toward the watch-hour requirement?
Yes, if its viewing time qualifies under YouTube’s rules. For livestream watch hours to count toward the 4,000-hour route, the stream must be public and converted to a video on demand (VOD). YouTube excludes livestream watch hours from that threshold when the stream is unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD.

A stream running for 24 hours does not automatically produce 24 hours of qualifying watch time: the threshold reflects eligible viewer watch time, not simply the broadcast’s duration. Keep qualifying broadcasts public and available as VODs, then check eligible hours in YouTube Studio. The threshold uses a rolling 12-month window, so older hours eventually fall outside it.
What the 500-subscriber expanded YPP tier offers
In locations where the expanded YouTube Partner Program is available, a channel may qualify for selected features with 500 subscribers, three valid public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified watch hours in the last 12 months or 3 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. This lower tier can provide qualifying fan-funding and Shopping features, subject to feature rules and regional availability; it does not itself unlock Watch Page ad revenue.

Meeting the numbers does not guarantee approval
Reaching a threshold makes a channel eligible to apply or proceed to review; it does not guarantee acceptance. YouTube says every channel meeting the threshold goes through a standard review process. The channel must comply with monetization policies, be based in a country or region where YPP is available, have no active Community Guidelines strikes, enable two-step verification, have access to advanced features, and link an AdSense for YouTube account. YouTube also reviews whether the channel follows its monetization policies.

What monetization can mean for a livestream
After acceptance into YPP, creators may be able to earn from livestream ads and eligible live features such as Super Chat, Super Stickers, and channel memberships, when the relevant terms and features are enabled. YouTube says pre-roll and display ads are automatically enabled when livestream monetization is turned on; mid-rolls can be inserted automatically or manually.
Ad opportunities do not guarantee that an ad will be served. YouTube notes, “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.” Embedding a livestream with autoplay can also turn off live-stream ads. Details are in YouTube’s livestream monetization guidance.

Keeping a YouTube stream running continuously
A continuous stream does not change YouTube’s eligibility thresholds, and a streaming service cannot guarantee qualified watch hours or YPP approval. If your goal is to keep an uploaded-video stream running without leaving a computer on, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not broadcast from a camera.

Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. A continuously running stream still must meet YouTube’s public-stream and VOD conditions to contribute watch hours, and channel eligibility remains YouTube’s decision.
