There is no fixed number of minutes that 1% lasts on a Samsung Galaxy. It may last longer with the screen off and little background activity, or fall quickly during demanding use. The model, signal, apps, display settings and battery condition all affect the result.
Why 1% lasts for different amounts of time
A battery percentage is an estimate of remaining charge, not a countdown timer. Samsung does not publish a general minutes-per-percent figure for Galaxy devices, and the company’s guidance does not establish a controlled estimate for the final 1%.
Samsung says environmental conditions, background apps and battery condition can contribute to faster drain. Its guidance also identifies unstable network signal, high screen brightness and intensive activities such as high-performance gaming or high-quality video as factors that use more power. These factors explain why an estimate based on another Galaxy—or another moment on the same phone—may not apply to your situation.

These are comparisons based on Samsung’s general battery guidance, not measurements from a standardized test. Samsung’s Galaxy battery-drain guidance was last updated December 8, 2025, and does not promise how long 1% will last.

How to stretch the remaining charge
- Turn on Power saving mode. Samsung says it can restrict background data for unused apps and disable high-power features such as Always On Display. Depending on the device and available settings, it may also lower brightness or limit CPU speed. See Samsung’s Power saving mode guidance.
- Dim the display and switch it off when you are not using the phone. Samsung notes that a brighter screen uses more battery. Its battery optimization guidance covers ways to reduce consumption.
- Disable connections or features you do not need. Check your phone’s battery usage page to see whether an app is consuming an unusual amount. The route and labels can vary by model and software version; on many devices, start at Settings > Battery or Settings > Battery and device care > Battery.
These steps can reduce power use, but they cannot guarantee a particular number of extra minutes at 1%. The effect depends on what the phone is doing and its condition.
When a fast drop may need investigation
A single quick drop at the bottom of the battery indicator does not by itself prove that the battery has failed. If the phone repeatedly drains unusually fast, review the apps listed under Battery usage and run the battery check in Samsung Members. Samsung’s support page explains how to use Phone Diagnostics in Samsung Members. Battery capacity can decline over time with repeated charging and discharging, so an older battery may not behave like a new one.

Why older battery-life claims do not answer this question
Samsung Electronics said in 2014 that the Galaxy S5’s Ultra Power Saving Mode could provide up to 24 hours of standby with 10% battery remaining. That figure applies to a specific older phone and power-saving mode. It does not show how long 1% lasts on that model, much less on current Galaxy devices.
