Most Wanted is a single-player roguelike combat-survival mode in Ghost of Yōtei. Choose a bounty, fight through enemy waves and minibosses, shape your build with perks, then face the bounty’s final boss. Runs also earn Mon for between-run upgrades and unlocks; cosmetics earned in the mode carry into the main game.
What is Most Wanted in Ghost of Yōtei?
Sucker Punch describes Most Wanted as “our spin on a roguelike.” Rather than following the main campaign’s quest structure, the mode centers on repeatable bounty challenges: each one sends you through a sequence of combat encounters that grows more demanding as you progress. How does a Most Wanted run work?
- Choose a bounty. The bounty board offers targets linked to different members of the Yōtei Six.
- Fight through the encounters. A bounty takes you through enemy waves and minibosses before its final boss.
- Select perks as you advance. Completing waves presents choices that shape your current run. Examples include weapon mastery, gear loadouts, summons, parries, and survivability.
- Defeat the final boss. Bounties can be replayed at escalating difficulty, with Lord Saitō’s bounty identified as the hardest endpoint.
Perks are the choices that shape a run as it unfolds. Mon serves a separate purpose: runs earn it for spending between runs on techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and character unlocks. That distinction matters when planning progress: a perk pick is a run-time build decision, while Mon supports the mode’s between-run progression.
Which characters can you play as?
The mode names four playable characters: Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato, and Jin. Atsu is available by default; the other characters unlock by completing runs. Each character begins with a katana and brings additional signature weapons and abilities, including an Ultimate and a Kill Streak.

These are different toolkits, not a published ranking. The official descriptions establish weapon types and abilities, but do not give comparative performance rankings or identify a universally best character. To choose, consider whether you prefer ranged options, crowd control, summons, or stealth and assassination tools.
What carries over to the main game?
Cosmetics earned in Most Wanted also unlock in the main game. The developer says they can be worn during Atsu’s original quest and the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion. The official descriptions confirm cosmetic carryover; they do not say that temporary run perks or all mode progression transfer to the campaign.

Which edition includes Most Wanted?
PlayStation lists Most Wanted as part of Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition for PS5. The mode page indicates digital and physical editions, and Sucker Punch documented a Complete Edition Upgrade for existing owners. The official PlayStation Store listing identifies the Complete Edition’s contents; check your regional storefront for current availability and price.
The developer announced the mode for patch v2.0, with a release date of October 1, 2026 globally and October 2, 2026 in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Those announced dates have passed. The developer said downloading requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account.
