In GTA 5, an ejector seat for ordinary cars is a script, not a Los Santos Customs upgrade. A classic single-player .NET script listens for the Numpad Add key, removes your character from a supported vehicle, applies an upward push and leaves the vehicle below. FiveM servers can implement a more controlled version with seat-specific keybinds, parachutes, use limits and driver protection. The result is a dramatic emergency exit, but it is not a dependable, physics-accurate aircraft ejection system.
What an ejector-seat mod actually adds
GTA 5 does not provide a general-purpose ejector-seat option for cars through its normal modification shops. The effect comes from script code running in single-player or from a resource installed on a FiveM server. That distinction determines where the feature works, who controls it and how reliable its recovery systems are.
The classic PC script is Ejection Seat [.NET], published by Pandassaurus. Its description says the player can press “Add” on the number pad in topless vehicles such as motorcycles, quadbikes, topless cars, convertibles and some planes. The listing recorded 4,427 downloads for version 0.2.1 in 2015. It is a local Story Mode modification that depends on Script Hook V and Script Hook V .NET; it is not an official GTA Online feature.

The vehicle may remain intact or be detonated during the climb, depending on the action you take and the script’s behavior. The experience is therefore closer to a scripted vertical escape than to a seat, rocket and parachute simulation modeled with aircraft engineering accuracy.

How the single-player ejection sequence works
1. The hotkey starts the script
With the script installed and a supported vehicle occupied, press the Numpad Add key (the “Add” key on the numeric keypad). The script begins its configured countdown, documented as 3, 2, 1, before launching the player. A keyboard without a numeric keypad may require a remapped key or an alternate input device; the original script’s documented trigger is the Numpad Add key.
2. The player is detached from the vehicle
The character is removed from the seat rather than using a normal door or animation exit. An upward push is then applied. The default push-force value in the settings is 10, so the vertical movement is immediate and conspicuous even when the vehicle is stationary.
3. Optional vehicle destruction occurs during ascent
The script documentation describes pressing E during the ascent to explode the abandoned vehicle. This is an optional gameplay action, not a requirement for ejection. If you want the car available after landing, do not use that detonation input.

4. The descent is not guaranteed to include a parachute
The original description presents the idea as an eject-and-parachute escape, but a hands-on report by Joshua Wolens at PC Gamer on 14 October 2026 found that parachute descent did not happen reliably. Treat any parachute behavior as build- and situation-dependent rather than as a guaranteed recovery system.

Which vehicles pass the realism check?
The settings file includes a realism gate. When that option is enabled, the script restricts ejection to vehicles in which an exposed or plausible escape path is available. The documented categories are:

Disabling the realism option removes that vehicle restriction. That allows testing in vehicles outside the documented list, but it also makes the feature less believable and can expose more animation or collision problems. A vehicle passing the script’s check does not guarantee a safe landing, a working seat prop or a parachute.
What the settings file changes
The installation includes EjectionSeatSettings.txt. The documented options affect presentation and force rather than turning the script into a fully simulated aircraft system.

- Countdown: the visible 3, 2, 1 launch sequence.
- Realism mode: keeps the documented vehicle restrictions when enabled; disabling it removes that gate.
- Fire trail: adds a visual trail. It is cosmetic and does not make the launch safer or more powerful.
- Ejector-seat prop: an experimental seat object that attempts to appear with the player.
- Push force: controls the launch impulse. The default documented value is 10.
The author marks the seat prop as not working properly, and the changelog says the seat-with-rocket simulation is currently not working. In other words, enabling the prop can add visual experimentation without delivering a dependable seat-and-rocket animation.

What changes in actual gameplay
Fast vertical escape
The useful effect is speed: instead of opening a door, falling from a damaged vehicle or waiting for a conventional exit animation, your character leaves the vehicle and rises rapidly. This can be entertaining for stunt setups and can function as a novelty emergency exit in Story Mode.
Vehicle and player separation
The car remains below while the player is pushed upward. Because the script is not a complete flight model, it does not reproduce the carefully staged sequence of a real aircraft seat: no documented canopy break, stabilization phase, seat separation and reliable recovery chain is provided.
Unreliable momentum and extreme-force risk
Wolens reported that the mod did not preserve momentum well enough to make attempts to land back in the car dependable. The same report says a Force value of 100,000 appeared to crash the game at launch. That observation belongs to one journalist’s tested setup, not a guarantee that every installation will fail at exactly that number, but it is a strong reason to change force values in small increments and keep backups of the settings file.

A fire trail changes what spectators see, not the underlying physics. Likewise, a seat prop that appears briefly should not be interpreted as proof that the character is attached to a functional rocket seat.

Installing the classic PC single-player script
This procedure applies to the .NET script, not to FiveM resources or official GTA Online sessions. Use a clean Story Mode setup and keep a copy of any file you edit.
- Confirm the platform. The documented setup is PC single-player. Do not treat it as an Online upgrade or as a feature that Rockstar installs through Los Santos Customs.
- Install the prerequisites. The script requires Script Hook V and Script Hook V .NET. Both must be compatible with your current GTA 5 build.
- Create or verify the scripts folder. In the GTA 5 installation directory, use the
scriptsfolder expected by Script Hook V .NET. - Copy the script files. Place
EjectionSeat.csandEjectionSeatSettings.txtin that scripts folder, preserving the filenames. - Launch Story Mode. Test locally rather than joining an official GTA Online session.
- Use a documented vehicle first. Choose a motorcycle, bicycle, quadbike, topless car or one of the listed aircraft while realism mode is enabled.
- Press Numpad Add. Wait through the countdown and observe whether the character is launched. If nothing happens, check the numeric-keypad key, script-loader versions and the vehicle restriction.
- Change one setting at a time. Adjust countdown, realism, fire trail or push force separately so a problem can be traced to a specific change. Avoid extreme force experiments; a value of 100,000 was associated with a launch crash in the 2026 hands-on report.
Rockstar’s support guidance, updated 15 September 2026, points users to its Terms of Service, Creator Platform License Agreement and Mod Guidelines for questions about Story Mode modifications. Those policies are separate from the technical steps above and can change, so check the current guidance before installing or distributing files.

The hotkey does nothing
- Verify that the numeric keypad is enabled and that you are pressing Numpad Add, not the plus key elsewhere on the keyboard.
- Confirm that Script Hook V and Script Hook V .NET are installed and compatible with the game build.
- Check that both files are in the correct
scriptsfolder and that filenames were not changed. - Test a motorcycle or other clearly documented vehicle before disabling realism mode.
The vehicle refuses to eject
Realism mode may be blocking the vehicle. Convertibles can also need to be stationary while the roof opens. Try a documented open vehicle on level ground, then inspect the realism setting before assuming the script is broken.
The seat does not appear or looks wrong
This is an acknowledged limitation: the author describes the seat prop as not working properly, and the rocket-seat simulation is listed as not working. Disable the prop if you prefer the simpler launch effect.

The game crashes after changing force
Restore the previous settings file and reduce the force substantially. Do not jump directly to large values. Because there is no controlled benchmark for force accuracy or survival, a larger number should not be treated as a tested improvement.
You launch but cannot land safely
The classic script does not provide a dependable parachute according to the 2026 report. Use low-risk test locations, expect a fall, and do not assume that momentum will carry you back into the vehicle.
How FiveM ejector-seat resources differ
FiveM implementations are server resources, so the server owner decides which players, seats and vehicles can use them. Envi-Ejector-Seats documentation describes a resource that can eject any player, assign a keybind per seat, optionally give an ejected player a parachute, limit the number of uses, job-lock installation and protect the driver from being ejected.

These are separate ecosystems. Installing the Story Mode script does not add the feature to a FiveM server, and installing a FiveM resource does not change your local single-player files. A server can also disable or restrict the resource regardless of the keybind you choose.
The native aircraft flag is not a car upgrade
Cfx.re’s vehicle-flags reference lists FLAG_HAS_EJECTOR_SEATS (build b1180) with the behavior “Ejects ped from aircraft if bailing mid-air.” That flag describes an aircraft bailing behavior in the game engine. It does not give ordinary cars a user-triggered ejector seat, and it does not replace a Script Hook script or a FiveM resource that adds car ejection.
This explains why reports about aircraft bailing can be misleading when applied to cars. A native flag can govern an existing aircraft behavior, while the general-purpose vehicle escape described here is supplied by additional script logic.
Compatibility and responsible use
- Keep Story Mode modifications separate from official GTA Online play.
- Back up
EjectionSeatSettings.txtbefore experimenting. - Change one parameter at a time and test at ordinary force values.
- Expect vehicle-specific differences; the documented list is not a guarantee for every model or custom vehicle.
- On FiveM, follow the server’s resource rules and permissions. The server owner controls availability, seats, uses and parachute behavior.
- Do not describe the effect as a tested survival system. The available reports provide no controlled benchmark for survival, force accuracy or performance across vehicle models.
What to expect from the experience
If you want a quick, spectacular exit from a motorcycle, convertible or selected aircraft in PC Story Mode, the classic script delivers that concept with a simple hotkey and editable settings. Its boundaries are equally important: the seat prop is experimental, parachute recovery is unreliable in the reported test, momentum can be poor and extreme force values can crash the game. FiveM resources are the better fit when a server needs seat-level controls, permissions, limited uses or optional parachutes. Neither approach turns Los Santos Customs into an ejector-seat workshop or adds a guaranteed feature to official GTA Online.
