To charge a Samsung Galaxy S21, connect its USB-C port to a USB-C cable and a compatible wall adapter, then plug the adapter into an outlet. The S21 also supports compatible wireless charging. Samsung rates the Galaxy S21 Series for up to 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging; those are product ratings, not guaranteed charging times.
Charge the Galaxy S21 with a cable
- Insert the USB-C cable into the Galaxy S21’s USB-C port.
- Connect the other end to a compatible power adapter.
- Plug the adapter into a wall outlet.
Samsung recommends the supplied USB Type-C cable and approved charging accessories. Connecting the cable to a computer or another device can charge the phone, but Samsung says it may take longer than using a wall adapter.
The wall adapter is not included
Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Series in-box guidance says, “A Charging adapter is not included with the in-box items.” The supplied cable can therefore be paired with a compatible adapter you already own. A suitable 25W USB-C Power Delivery 3.0 wall charger is the relevant class for the phone’s maximum wired rating.
Enable Fast charging or Super fast charging
On Samsung’s UK guidance, open Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > More battery settings, then enable Fast charging or Super fast charging. Menu names and locations can vary with the phone’s software version.

Which charger standard is required?

A USB PD 2.0 charger falls back to Fast charging rather than Super fast charging. A charger with a 45W label does not turn the Galaxy S21 into a 45W phone; the handset’s published wired rating remains 25W. Samsung also cautions that Fast charging and Super fast charging may not be compatible with some third-party chargers, so wattage alone is not enough to establish the charging mode.
Charge the Galaxy S21 wirelessly
- Use a compatible wireless charging pad.
- Place the phone centered on the pad’s charging surface, with the back of the phone facing the charger.
- Remove coins, magnetic cards and other metal or magnetic objects from between the phone and the pad.
Samsung lists 15W wireless charging for the Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra. Actual speed depends on the pad, power adapter, phone temperature, battery condition and alignment, so the 15W figure should not be treated as a fixed charging time. Wireless charging can also take longer than wired charging.

What each charging option is for

If the Galaxy S21 does not start charging
- Confirm both cable connections are fully seated and the wall adapter is plugged into a working outlet.
- Inspect the USB-C connector and port for dust or other foreign objects; do not use damaged accessories.
- If the battery is deeply discharged, allow time for the charging indicator to appear. Samsung says it can take up to 10 minutes.
- For wireless charging, remove metal or magnetic items and reposition the phone on the pad.
- Keep the phone cool while charging. Excess heat can affect charging behavior.
- If a third-party charger does not offer the expected mode, try an approved charger that supports the required AFC or USB PD standard.
Samsung advises avoiding complete battery drain where possible and charging in smaller amounts when practical.

If you need a wall charger, choose a 25W USB-C charger that supports USB Power Delivery 3.0 and is compatible with the Galaxy S21. Buy a replacement USB-C cable only if the supplied cable is missing or damaged. Choose a compatible wireless charger if cable-free placement is more useful to you than maximum speed. No particular accessory is implied to have been tested here.
