For a suspected fake or unauthorized Nintendo eShop game listing in the United States, email piracyscene@noa.nintendo.com when the concern involves piracy, counterfeit activity, ROMs, emulators, Game Copiers, or other illegal activity. Use noalegal@noa.nintendo.com for illegal Nintendo trademark use or another legal concern. If you own the copyright or are an authorized agent, Nintendo’s formal notice route is dmca@noa.nintendo.com.

Before sending anything, record the listing’s exact title, publisher or developer, country or region, URL or other locator, displayed price, product ID if visible, screenshots, and the date and time you saw it. Describe what appears unauthorized without claiming certainty you cannot establish. Nintendo does not publish a guaranteed response time, removal deadline, refund, or enforcement result for these reports.

What should I do before reporting a suspicious eShop listing?

Preserve the information that is already visible and avoid buying or downloading the game just to investigate it. A report is more useful when Nintendo can locate the listing and understand the specific red flags without you exposing payment or account details unnecessarily.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Do not purchase or download the item for evidence. A suspicious listing can involve an illegal copy, counterfeit activity, or another form of piracy. Investigating through a transaction can expose your payment information and Nintendo account without adding necessary proof.
  2. Copy the exact identifying details. Record the game title exactly as displayed, the publisher or developer name, the Nintendo eShop country or region, the listing URL or another locator, the displayed price, and any product ID shown on the page.
  3. Capture screenshots. Save the title art, description, publisher information, price, warnings, and any Nintendo branding or artwork that appears relevant. Keep the original files and note when each image was captured.
  4. Describe observations, not conclusions. Say that a listing “appears unauthorized,” “may be impersonating” a publisher, or “appears to copy” a known game unless you have authoritative proof. Explain the facts that led you to that view.
  5. Choose the route that matches the issue and your authority. An ordinary observer generally uses Nintendo’s piracy or legal-inquiry contacts. A copyright owner or authorized agent can use the formal DMCA address and must make the required legal statements.

This approach gives Nintendo a usable lead while avoiding an unsupported accusation. It also keeps a consumer report separate from a rights holder’s legal notice, which carries additional obligations.

Which Nintendo email should I use?

Nintendo of America publishes different U.S. addresses for piracy-related reports, legal concerns, formal copyright notices, and auction-site items. Use the narrowest route that fits the conduct you can describe.

Situation U.S. route Use it for Include
Suspected piracy, counterfeit activity, ROMs, emulators, Game Copiers, or other illegal activity piracyscene@noa.nintendo.com A potentially illegal or counterfeit eShop game listing Title, region, locator, screenshots, price, publisher information, date and factual explanation
Illegal Nintendo trademark use or another legal concern noalegal@noa.nintendo.com Unauthorized Nintendo logos, marks, artwork, or a broader legal issue Listing details, evidence, and the specific trademark or legal concern
Copyright or intellectual-property notice from the owner or an authorized agent dmca@noa.nintendo.com A formal notice submitted by someone with authority over the affected exclusive right All six elements required by Nintendo’s intellectual-property policy, including signature and authority statement
Auction-site item rather than an eShop listing auctionpiracy@noa.nintendo.com A suspected infringing item offered through an auction site Auction URL or other locator and evidence of the suspected infringement

The piracy address is the one Nintendo Support gives for “ROM sites, emulators, Game Copiers, Counterfeit manufacturing, or other illegal activities.” The legal address is for illegal use of Nintendo trademarks or another legal inquiry or concern. Those descriptions make the intended routing clearer than simply sending every complaint to a general support inbox.

When should a consumer use the piracy address?

Use piracyscene@noa.nintendo.com when the listing appears to offer an illegal copy, counterfeit product, or another piracy-related item. Explain the observable facts: for example, the game appears to duplicate a known Nintendo title, uses copied artwork, identifies an implausible publisher, or advertises a product that appears counterfeit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You do not need to prove the legal case yourself. Your task is to make the listing easy to find and explain why it warrants review. Avoid downloading the game, supplying a ROM, or conducting a purchase solely to strengthen the report.

When is the legal-inquiry address more appropriate?

Use noalegal@noa.nintendo.com when the central issue is unauthorized use of a Nintendo trademark or another legal concern. Examples include a listing that prominently uses Nintendo’s name or logo in a way that may mislead buyers, or a page that appears to impersonate an official publisher.

If the same listing also appears to be pirated or counterfeit, describe both concerns in one organized report. The important distinction is that this address is for legal and trademark issues, while the piracy address is expressly identified for illegal activity such as ROMs, emulators, and counterfeit manufacturing.

Who may use the DMCA address?

dmca@noa.nintendo.com is Nintendo’s formal route for a copyright or intellectual-property notice from the rights owner or an authorized agent. It is not a casual escalation address for a consumer who merely suspects a listing is fake.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A notice sent through this route requires statements made under penalty of perjury and a signature. Do not state that you own a copyright, or that you are authorized to act for its owner, unless that is true.

What if the item is on an auction site?

For an auction-site item rather than an eShop listing, Nintendo identifies auctionpiracy@noa.nintendo.com. Include the complete auction URL or another precise locator, seller or listing identifiers that are visible, screenshots, and a factual explanation of the suspected infringement.

What information makes a report easy for Nintendo to locate?

Nintendo’s formal policy requires a sufficiently precise description of allegedly infringing material. The same principle makes a consumer report more actionable: include enough detail that a reviewer can distinguish the listing from similarly named games.

  • Region: State the Nintendo eShop country or region, such as the United States, because storefronts and legal contacts vary by location.
  • Locator: Provide the full listing URL when available. If the page has no stable URL, include the product ID, search terms, category, and the navigation path needed to find it.
  • Price and availability: Note the displayed price, currency, sale label, release status, and date and time observed. These details can change.
  • Visual evidence: Attach screenshots showing the title art, description, publisher, Nintendo marks, and any claim that could mislead buyers. Do not edit an image in a way that removes context.
  • Reason for concern: Explain whether the listing appears to copy a known game, use Nintendo trademarks or artwork without permission, impersonate a publisher, offer a counterfeit product, or otherwise mislead buyers.
  • Your contact address: Provide an email address where Nintendo can reach you. A consumer report does not require you to claim ownership of the rights at issue.

Keep a private copy of the message and attachments. If the listing changes after you report it, your saved copy shows what you actually observed and when.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How should I write the email?

A concise, structured email is easier to review than a long accusation. Put the game title, region, and issue in the subject line, then separate identification, evidence, and explanation.

  1. Use a descriptive subject. For example: Suspected unauthorized eShop listing — [exact game title] — U.S. region. If the concern is specifically trademark use, say so in the subject.
  2. Identify the listing first. Give the exact title, publisher or developer, region, URL or product ID, displayed price, and observation date.
  3. State what you observed. Use neutral wording such as “The artwork appears copied from…” or “The page uses Nintendo’s logo while identifying a different publisher.”
  4. List the attachments. Name each screenshot and say what it shows. Make sure the files are readable and do not include unnecessary personal information.
  5. Explain how to find it. If a URL is unavailable, provide the eShop search terms and the menu path you used.
  6. Close with your contact details. Ask Nintendo to review the listing, but do not demand a particular result or claim that removal is guaranteed.

A consumer email can follow this pattern:

To: piracyscene@noa.nintendo.com
Subject: Suspected unauthorized eShop listing — [exact title] — [region]

Hello,

I am reporting a Nintendo eShop listing that appears unauthorized.

Title: [exact title]
Publisher/developer shown: [name]
Region: [country or eShop region]
Listing URL or product ID: [locator]
Displayed price: [price and currency]
Observed: [date and time]

Reason for concern:
[Describe the copied title, artwork, trademark use, impersonation, counterfeit indicators, or other facts. Use “appears” or “suspected” where the facts are not conclusive.]

Attachments:
[List screenshots and what each shows.]

Please review the listing. I can provide additional identifying details at this address.

[Your name or preferred sign-off]
[Reply email]

Use the piracy address for piracy or other illegal-activity concerns, or change the recipient and explanation when the issue is primarily trademark or another legal concern. Do not insert a rights-holder certification into an ordinary consumer report.

What must a formal DMCA notice contain?

Nintendo’s U.S. Intellectual Property Policy lists six required elements. The notice should be complete before you send it; omitting a required item can make it difficult to process.

  1. Description of the protected work or trademark. Identify the copyrighted work or trademark at issue. Include registration or application details when applicable.
  2. Description and location of the allegedly infringing material. Describe the listing or material precisely enough for Nintendo to locate it. Include the full URL, product ID, screenshots, region, and any other identifying information available.
  3. Your contact information. Provide your address, telephone number, and email address.
  4. Good-faith statement. State that you believe the challenged use is not authorized by the rights owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. Accuracy and authority statement. State that the information is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed.
  6. Physical or electronic signature. Sign the notice electronically or physically, as applicable.

These statements are materially different from saying that a listing looks suspicious. If you are not the rights owner or authorized agent, use the consumer reporting route instead of signing the authority statement.

Does the reporting address change outside the United States?

Yes. The U.S. addresses above are Nintendo of America contacts and should not be treated as worldwide reporting channels. Nintendo’s UK legal-information page, for example, lists anti-piracytips@nintendo.de for infringing items or other illegal activities.

If you are elsewhere, check the Nintendo support or legal-information page for your own country or regional Nintendo entity before sending a report. Include the local storefront and region in your message. A U.S. address may not be the correct intake point for a listing offered in another market.

What happens after I send the report?

Nintendo’s published contact and policy pages do not promise a response time, a takedown deadline, a refund, or disclosure of what enforcement action it takes. A report should therefore be treated as an intake request for review, not as a guaranteed removal order.

Keep your email, screenshots, and notes in case Nintendo asks for clarification. Do not send repeated messages that add no new information. If the listing changes, send a focused update that identifies the original report and explains exactly what changed.

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

The reporting channel is also not described as a purchase-refund process. If you already paid for something, preserve your transaction record and use the relevant account or purchase-support process in addition to reporting the suspected listing; do not assume that a piracy or legal email will automatically reverse a charge.

What mistakes should I avoid?

  • Do not buy the game to “prove” the allegation. The visible listing details and screenshots are safer evidence than an unnecessary transaction or download.
  • Do not exaggerate. Distinguish an apparent copy, impersonation, or trademark issue from a conclusion you cannot substantiate.
  • Do not omit the region. Nintendo’s contacts are regional, and the same title can appear in different storefronts.
  • Do not send an imprecise locator. A title alone may not identify one listing. Add the URL, product ID, search path, publisher, and screenshots.
  • Do not use the DMCA route without authority. The formal notice includes a penalty-of-perjury statement and a signature.
  • Do not include unnecessary sensitive information. Never send passwords, payment-card numbers, or unrelated account data merely to report a listing.
  • Do not promise an outcome to other buyers. Nintendo’s published pages do not promise removal, a response deadline, or a refund.

Can I report a listing even if I am not completely sure it is fake?

Yes. A consumer report can identify a potential problem without presenting it as a proven violation. Explain exactly what you saw, preserve the listing details, and use terms such as “suspected” or “appears unauthorized.”

The distinction matters because Nintendo’s formal DMCA process is reserved for a rights owner or authorized agent making legal certifications. An observer can provide useful leads without making those certifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I report a suspicious Nintendo eShop game without buying it?

Yes. The practical guidance is to preserve the title, URL or product ID, screenshots, region, price, and timestamp already visible rather than purchasing or downloading the item. Buying it can expose payment or account information without being necessary to identify the listing.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Will Nintendo tell me whether the listing was removed?

Nintendo’s published reporting guidance does not promise a response time or disclosure of enforcement action. Keep your original report and evidence, but do not assume that silence means the listing was accepted, rejected, or removed.

What should a game developer do if another listing copies its work?

A developer that owns the relevant copyright or acts as an authorized agent can use the formal DMCA address, provided the notice includes Nintendo’s required description, location, contact, good-faith, accuracy-and-authority, and signature elements. Someone without that authority should submit a factual piracy or legal-concern report instead of signing the rights-holder statement.

Are Nintendo’s U.S. reporting emails valid for every country?

No. They are Nintendo of America contacts. Check the Nintendo legal or support page for the storefront’s country; Nintendo’s UK information, for example, identifies a different anti-piracy address.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
