American Express Experiences can let eligible Card Members buy tickets to selected concerts, sports, entertainment and other events before the general on-sale, or from a ticket allotment held specifically for Card Members. The two main options are Amex Presale Tickets, which open during an earlier sales window, and Amex Reserved Tickets, which draw from dedicated inventory. Neither guarantees a ticket, a particular seat or a lower price. Tickets are sold and fulfilled by the event’s third-party seller, and the purchase must be paid with an eligible American Express Card; American Express Prepaid Cards are excluded under the cited terms.
This guide explains how each access type works, who may qualify, where to buy, what Platinum and Centurion members receive through the Premium Events Collection, and which event-specific rules determine fees, limits, entry perks, refunds and resale.
What American Express Experiences actually provides
American Express Experiences is an access program, not a single ticket marketplace or a promise of complimentary admission. For selected events, American Express makes one or more access paths available to Card Members. The event page determines the sale period, available seats, seller, price, fees and restrictions.
American Express describes Presale Tickets as access to “select events and select seats” during a specified period before the event’s general on-sale. The Experiences catalog also says that all Card Members can access Amex Presale Tickets and Amex Reserved Tickets for selected events and moments across sports, music and other categories while supplies last. That wording is deliberately limited: participation, timing and inventory are set event by event.

In practical terms, your card may help you reach a ticket page earlier or access a separate seat allotment. It does not turn every event into an Amex event, and it does not guarantee that the seats you want will be offered.

Which cards and members are eligible?
General Card Member access
The catalog language says all American Express Card Members can access Presale Tickets and Reserved Tickets for selected events while supplies last. “All” does not mean every event accepts every card product. The event listing or checkout terms can limit eligibility by country, card product, enrollment status, purchase quantity or other conditions. Read the listing attached to the event you intend to attend rather than relying on a benefit description from a different event.
Platinum and Centurion access
Platinum and Centurion Card Members have an additional route through the Premium Events Collection. American Express describes this collection as curated dining, entertainment, fashion and sports experiences customized for those members and not generally available to the public. These are experiences rather than a universal ticket presale, so the release method, price, guest allowance and capacity are specific to each listing.

The cited membership terms require payment with an American Express Card and specifically exclude American Express Prepaid Cards. If a ticket seller asks you to select a card type, use the qualifying American Express Card that the event terms allow. A different payment card can cause the transaction to fail or make the order ineligible for the benefit.
How to buy an Amex presale or reserved ticket
Use the event’s own ticket page and treat the displayed sale window as the controlling schedule. The following process covers the common flow; labels and queue behavior differ by seller.

- Find the event in the American Express Experiences listings or from the venue or promoter. Open the specific event rather than a generic benefits page. Note the city, date, seller, access type and card eligibility.
- Record the exact opening time. Presales can begin days or hours before the public sale, while a Reserved Tickets allotment may have its own release period. Convert the time to your local time zone and check whether the listing shows a closing time.
- Open the seller’s purchase page at the stated time. On AXS, the published instruction is to locate the American Express Experiences section on the purchase page for the event. Other sellers may use a similarly named ticket block or filter.
- Sign in or create the seller account before tickets are released. Complete email verification and keep your phone available for any one-time authentication the seller requires. Do not create multiple queues if the seller’s rules prohibit them.
- Select tickets from the correct access area. Presale inventory and Reserved Tickets inventory can appear as separate options. Review the section, row, quantity, delivery method and all displayed fees before placing the order.
- Pay with the eligible American Express Card. Enter the card details exactly as requested. Do not substitute an American Express Prepaid Card where the terms exclude it.
- Save the confirmation and event terms. Keep the order number, delivery instructions, seller contact details and the refund, exchange, transfer and resale language shown at checkout. Those seller terms govern the transaction.
A successful queue position is not a completed purchase. Tickets are secured only after the seller confirms the order and charges the card.
Amex Presale Tickets versus Amex Reserved Tickets
Presale: earlier access to selected seats
A presale is a time advantage. During the stated window, Card Members can try to buy seats that the seller has made available before the general public sale. The seat map may show only a subset of the venue, and the public sale can later expose different sections. A presale can therefore improve your chance of shopping early without promising a specific location.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Reserved: a dedicated allotment
Reserved Tickets are held in a separate allotment for Card Members. They are not simply a faster version of the public queue. The seller may keep those seats unavailable to the public during the reserved period, but the allotment can be small and may not include the sections you prefer. Once the allotment is gone, having the right card does not create additional inventory.
How to choose
- Choose a Presale when timing matters and you want to shop whatever selected inventory is released before general sale.
- Choose Reserved Tickets when the event offers a dedicated Amex block and its sections or prices suit your needs.
- If both appear, compare the actual seat map and total checkout price; the labels alone do not establish that one option is cheaper or better.
Premium Events Collection: a different kind of access
The Premium Events Collection is aimed at Platinum and Centurion Card Members and covers curated experiences in dining, entertainment, fashion and sports. American Express characterizes these experiences as customized and not generally available to the public. A listing might therefore be a hosted or specially arranged experience rather than a conventional seat in a public ticket sale.
Capacity is limited, and the listing controls enrollment, timing, guest eligibility, payment, cancellation and any dress, age or arrival requirements. Read the full description before committing: a premium experience can have different terms from a Presale or Reserved Ticket for the same broad event category.

Venue and event perks beyond the ticket
Events with Amex and the Venue Collection can add operational benefits for eligible Card Members at participating venues. Examples described by American Express include dedicated entrances, dedicated checkout lanes, exclusive offers and popups. These are not automatic features of every Amex ticket. The venue’s instructions should tell you where the entrance or lane is, when it operates and what proof of eligibility is required.

If you bought a ticket through a different seller, verify that the perk accepts that ticket type and that your card product is included. Capacity controls can stop a venue from providing an extra service even when the event is participating.
Prices, fees and inventory: what the card benefit does not change
The third-party ticket seller, promoter or venue sets the ticket price and fees. American Express provides the access route but is not the seller or fulfiller of the ticket. Checkout can therefore include service, delivery or facility charges determined by the seller. Compare the complete total shown before payment, not only the headline ticket price.
Supply can be limited, not all seats are offered, and purchase limits or blackout dates may apply. A presale that appears on the event page is not evidence that every price level, section or performance is included. The absence of a seat in the Amex area does not prove that the venue is sold out overall; it may mean only that the Card Member inventory has been exhausted.
No authoritative source establishes a universal discount, seat-allocation percentage or success rate for these programs. Treat any claim that an Amex route is always cheaper or guarantees premium seating as unreliable unless the specific event states it.

Refunds, exchanges, transfers and resale
Ticket sellers can prohibit refunds, exchanges or resale, and those rules are attached to the individual event and order. American Express access does not override the seller’s policy. Before paying, look for the event’s cancellation language, postponed-event procedure, mobile-ticket restrictions and any transfer deadline.
If the event is canceled or materially changed, follow the seller’s announced process. Contacting American Express cannot replace the seller’s order-support channel because the seller issued and fulfilled the ticket. If transfer or resale is allowed, use only the method named in the order terms; a transfer can be disabled for some events or until a stated date.
Purchase limits, blackout dates and guest rules
Event listings may cap the number of tickets per Card Member, household, billing address or payment card. A limit can apply across multiple presale sessions, so buying a small quantity in one transaction may reduce what you can buy later. Blackout dates can exclude particular performances, dates or venues even when the broader event series is advertised.
Guest eligibility is separate from card eligibility. Your guests may be allowed to attend without their own American Express Card, or the terms may require the Card Member to enter with the group. Premium and venue experiences can impose their own age, identification, enrollment and capacity rules. Keep the Card Member present when the listing says the benefit is non-transferable.

- Read the event’s eligibility, geography, purchase-limit and blackout-date language.
- Create or update the ticket-seller account and verify your email and mobile number.
- Save the event date, sale start time, venue, seller and the exact name of the Amex access section.

Troubleshooting common problems
The American Express section is missing
Check that you opened the event’s designated seller page, that the presale window has started, and that the event actually lists an Amex access type. Some events use a separate tab or filter. If the listing says the benefit requires enrollment, complete that step before returning to checkout.

The card is rejected
Verify that you entered an eligible American Express Card rather than a prepaid card, that billing details match the seller’s records and that the card has available credit. If the seller still declines the transaction, use its order-support channel; American Express cannot correct a seller-side payment error from the Experiences page.
No seats appear
Refresh only as the seller permits. The allotment may be exhausted, the quantity may exceed the purchase limit, or the event may have released only particular sections. Reduce the quantity, change the section filter or check whether another listed performance has separate inventory.
The ticket is visible but the perk is not
A ticket purchase and a venue benefit can have different eligibility rules. Re-read the venue instructions for the entrance, lane or popup, and confirm that your event date and ticket type are included.
On the day of the event
Carry the mobile ticket in the seller’s approved app or wallet, the order confirmation and the American Express Card used for purchase when the terms require card verification. Arrive early enough to find a dedicated entrance or checkout lane if one is listed. Venue staff, rather than American Express, control admission, seat assignment and operational changes.
Do not assume that a presale purchase includes parking, hospitality, merchandise, early entry or a lounge. Those items must be stated in the event or venue description. Follow the venue’s current security and bag rules, which can change independently of the card benefit.
Which American Express route fits your goal?
| Your priority | Best starting point | What to verify first |
|---|---|---|
| Buy before the public sale | Amex Presale Tickets | Opening and closing times, selected sections, quantity limit and total fees |
| Shop a card-member-only block | Amex Reserved Tickets | Available sections, allotment size as displayed, seller terms and purchase deadline |
| Find a curated experience unavailable to the public | Premium Events Collection | Platinum or Centurion eligibility, capacity, guest rules and experience-specific cancellation terms |
| Use a faster entrance or receive an offer at a participating venue | Events with Amex or Venue Collection information | Venue, date, operating hours, required ticket and proof of eligibility |
Bottom line for buyers
American Express Experiences can provide earlier access or a separate ticket allotment, but the event page remains the source of truth. Use an eligible American Express Card, buy through the named third-party seller, and judge the offer by its actual seat map, all-in price, limits and terms. Platinum and Centurion members should also check the Premium Events Collection for curated experiences, while every Card Member should verify whether any entrance, offer or other venue perk applies to the specific event.
