Some systems also add interactive effects during a broadcast. These are specific features and deployments—not proof that AI automatically makes streams accurate, safe, more popular, or more profitable.
Where AI fits in a live-streaming workflow
AI is becoming a layer in the production and distribution workflow rather than a replacement for the people running a stream. Broadcasters and platforms may use it to generate or translate captions, support moderation, identify segments for later editing, or provide interactive effects. What is available depends on the platform, service, language, and rollout.
Ofcom’s June 2025 overview identifies real-time captions, translation, automated dubbing, and audio descriptions as broadcaster use cases. Ofcom also described AI’s role in regulated sectors as spanning “automated online moderation” and “more accessible broadcasting.” Source: Ofcom, June 6, 2025.
Captions, translation, and accessibility
Live captions can make spoken content easier to follow for viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing, watching without sound, or more comfortable reading than listening. Translation can extend that access across languages, while automated dubbing may provide another way to localize speech. These functions are not interchangeable: translated captions display text, while dubbing produces spoken audio in another language.

A concrete infrastructure example appears in Google Cloud Live Stream API release notes: on September 1, 2025, Google listed AI-generated and translated captions for live streams. The same release-note entry lists SRT and RTMP distribution to remote endpoints. This establishes a feature in that service’s release notes, not availability in every streaming workflow or language. When evaluating a captioning or localization setup, check the language and dialect coverage, delay and synchronization, handling of names and specialized terminology, correction options, and how captions are delivered to viewers. Confirm that the feature works with the intended platform and distribution protocol; a caption feed that cannot reach the target player is not useful to the audience.
A 2024 survey commissioned by Wordly and conducted by Dimensional Research asked 205 event professionals in the United States and United Kingdom about language access and inclusion. In that sample, 79% said they were seeing more attendees whose first language was not English, and 97% said increasing inclusivity was a priority. The survey also found that 85% believed AI translation delivered higher ROI than human interpreters; that is respondents’ belief, not a measured comparison of actual returns. Moderation at scale still needs human judgment
Automated moderation can help platforms detect or prioritize potentially harmful content at a volume and speed that would be difficult to handle manually. It does not remove the need for human review, escalation paths, or decisions about context. A false positive can suppress acceptable speech; a missed violation can leave harmful material visible.

Roblox’s 2025 engineering account describes its moderation operation across 25 languages and says it combines infrastructure and machine-learning models with thousands of human experts. This is Roblox’s description of its own system, not an independent audit or evidence that another platform will achieve the same coverage or accuracy. Roblox’s moderation account.
For a creator or business choosing moderation tools, look for what the system flags, whether people can review borderline cases, how users can appeal or report decisions, and whether the tool fits the language and community being moderated. Define who responds to urgent cases during the live broadcast; automation alone is not a response plan.

Finding clips and adding interactive effects
AI can also help turn a long broadcast into shorter material. On September 16, 2025, YouTube announced that AI could find portions of a live stream and prepare them as Shorts for the creator to review and upload. That is a YouTube feature announcement, not a claim that every creator account has the feature or that all editing tools can do the same thing. Review the proposed segments before publishing: automated selection may miss context, choose an awkward boundary, or surface a moment that should not be reused. YouTube’s September 2025 announcement.
Another direction is real-time effects during a broadcast. Kuaishou reported AI-powered customizable effects in live-streaming rooms in late September 2025. This is an example tied to Kuaishou’s product, not evidence that such effects are available on all streaming platforms or that they improve reach or revenue. Kuaishou’s Q3 2025 report.

How to assess an AI feature before relying on it
Match the feature to a real production need, then test the whole workflow—from the speaker or chat message to the viewer or moderator who must act on it. Useful questions include:

- Coverage: Which languages and dialects are supported, and are the relevant speakers, terms, or community expressions handled well?
- Timing: How much delay is introduced, and do captions or translated audio stay synchronized with the live video?
- Correction: Can operators fix names, specialist vocabulary, captions, or moderation decisions while the stream is live?
- Human oversight: Can a person review uncertain moderation cases and generated clips before they affect viewers or are published?
- Compatibility: Does the feature integrate with the destination platform, player, and distribution protocol you actually use?
- Accountability: Who monitors failures, handles escalations, and decides what to do when the output is wrong?
Start with a low-risk test and include the conditions that matter in production: the stream’s usual vocabulary, audio quality, audience languages, and moderation workload. No feature should be treated as accurate or suitable simply because it is described as AI-powered.

The examples document real feature directions: captioning and translated captions in Google Cloud’s release notes, moderation practices described by Roblox, a YouTube announcement about preparing live-stream segments as Shorts, and AI effects reported by Kuaishou. They do not establish a universal accuracy rate, guaranteed cost savings, universal rollout, or causal audience or revenue gains.
Kuaishou reported Q3 2025 live-streaming revenue of RMB 9.6 billion, up 2.5% year over year. The company discussed a broader strategy involving content, scenarios, and AI-powered product innovations; the reported revenue change should not be attributed specifically to AI. Kuaishou’s Q3 2025 report.
