To redirect a Hostinger AI Builder domain, make Cloudflare authoritative for the domain, keep the Hostinger connection records valid, and create a Cloudflare Redirect Rule on a proxied hostname. Use a 301 status for a permanent move, preserve the path and query string when appropriate, and allow up to 24 hours for DNS changes to propagate.
What this setup does
Hostinger AI Builder does not provide the redirect workflow needed to forward an AI Builder site from one hostname to another. The redirect therefore has to run in front of the site, at the DNS and edge layer. Cloudflare can answer requests for the old hostname and return an HTTP redirect before a request reaches Hostinger.
The arrangement has three separate parts:
- DNS authority: your registrar delegates the domain to the two Cloudflare nameservers assigned to your zone.
- Hostinger connection: Cloudflare DNS contains the CNAME records required for the published AI Builder site.
- Redirect handling: a Cloudflare Redirect Rule matches the old hostname and sends visitors to the destination URL.
Changing nameservers alone does not create a redirect. Likewise, adding a Redirect Rule without a proxied DNS record gives Cloudflare no traffic path on which to run the rule.

Have access to both accounts
You need administrator access to the domain registrar, the Cloudflare account, and the Hostinger account that owns the AI Builder site. The registrar is where nameservers are changed; Cloudflare is where DNS and redirect rules are configured; Hostinger is where you confirm that the AI Builder site is published and identify the connection method.

Publish the AI Builder site
Hostinger says an AI Builder website must be published before visitors can access it. Publish the site before testing DNS or redirects. A redirect can return a response even while the destination is unavailable, but it cannot make an unpublished Hostinger site load.
Choose the source and destination precisely
Write down the exact old hostname you want to forward, such as old.example.com or the apex example.com, and the complete destination URL. Decide whether the destination should retain the incoming path and query string. For example, a request for /pricing?plan=pro can be sent to the destination root, or to the equivalent /pricing?plan=pro path if the new site has the same URL structure.
Understand the 2026 record change
Hostinger states that manual-mode A-record pointing for affected externally registered domains is no longer supported from May 20, 2026. Use the nameserver method or the current CNAME connection method instead of relying on an old Hostinger A-record tutorial.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Step 1: Add the domain to Cloudflare
- Sign in to Cloudflare or create an account.
- Select Add site and enter the domain, normally without a protocol or path.
- Allow Cloudflare to scan the existing DNS records.
- Review the imported records before changing nameservers. Keep records that serve mail, verification, or other services, and remove obsolete records only after confirming what they do.
Cloudflare will display two authoritative nameservers for the zone. They are unique to the zone, so do not substitute nameservers from another Cloudflare account or another domain.
Step 2: Delegate DNS to Cloudflare
- Open the domain at your registrar.
- Find the registrar’s nameserver or DNS delegation screen.
- Replace the existing nameservers with the two nameservers Cloudflare assigned.
- Save the change and return to Cloudflare’s domain overview to monitor activation.
After delegation completes, Cloudflare becomes the authoritative DNS provider. DNS records edited only at the registrar or in a former Hostinger DNS panel will no longer control the zone. Nameserver changes can take time to appear globally; the complete process may take up to 24 hours according to Hostinger’s guidance.

Step 3: Connect the domain to Hostinger AI Builder
Do this before creating the final redirect rule if the domain will continue to serve an AI Builder site. The exact records depend on the connection mode shown in Hostinger, but Hostinger’s documented manual-mode values are:
| Hostname | Type | Value | Cloudflare status while connecting |
|---|---|---|---|
@ (apex) |
CNAME | connect.hostinger.com |
DNS only |
www |
CNAME | connect.hostinger.com |
DNS only |
Remove conflicting root records
In Cloudflare DNS, remove root A or AAAA records that conflict with the Hostinger connection. A stale root record can send the apex to an old server while www points somewhere else. Also remove duplicate records for the same hostname when Cloudflare reports a conflict.
Recommended Free Tools
Keep the initial connection records DNS only
Hostinger’s Cloudflare guide specifies DNS only for the @ and www CNAME records while the AI Builder connection is being established. DNS only means Cloudflare publishes the DNS answer but does not act as the HTTP reverse proxy for that record. Wait for Hostinger to recognize the records and verify that the published site loads on the intended hostname.
Do not use the documentation address as an origin
Cloudflare’s alias-domain example uses an A record pointing to 192.0.2.1 before applying a redirect. That address belongs to the documentation-only TEST-NET range; it is an example value and does not route to a real origin. Do not use it as a substitute for Hostinger’s connection records unless you are deliberately following Cloudflare’s alias-domain pattern and understand that the redirect, not an origin server, handles the request.
Step 4: Set Cloudflare’s SSL/TLS mode
Open the domain in Cloudflare, go to SSL/TLS, and select Full, as specified in Hostinger’s Cloudflare guide. This allows HTTPS between visitors and Cloudflare and also uses HTTPS for the connection from Cloudflare toward the origin when an origin is involved.

Test the certificate after DNS activation. A browser warning, an endless redirect loop, or a failure that occurs only on HTTPS usually indicates that SSL/TLS mode, the origin certificate, or an unexpected HTTPS redirect is wrong. Resolve HTTPS behavior before judging the Redirect Rule itself.

Step 5: Create the Cloudflare Redirect Rule
- In the Cloudflare dashboard, open the domain.
- Go to Rules and open Redirect Rules.
- Create a rule that matches the old hostname. Match the apex and
wwwseparately if both must redirect, or use a host condition that explicitly includes both. - Set the destination URL to the new canonical URL.
- Select a permanent 301 redirect when the move is permanent. Use a temporary status only while you are deliberately testing or operating a short-lived campaign.
- Choose whether to preserve the incoming path and query string. If the new site has matching paths, append the request path; Cloudflare’s documented example uses
http.request.uri.path. Preserve the query string when tracking parameters or application parameters must survive. - Save and deploy the rule.
Preserve paths only when the destination supports them
Path preservation is useful when old and new sites have equivalent URL structures. If the old site used paths that do not exist on the new site, forwarding every path can create destination 404 errors. In that case, send the old hostname to a deliberate landing page or create separate rules for important paths.
Step 6: Proxy the hostname that must redirect
Cloudflare states that Single Redirects and Bulk Redirects require a proxied DNS record for the domain or subdomain. In the DNS page, switch the source hostname’s record from DNS only (gray cloud) to Proxied (orange cloud) when the redirect hostname is ready to be handled by Cloudflare.
This creates an important transition:
| Stage | Record state | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Hostinger connection | DNS only | Lets Hostinger verify and serve the AI Builder connection records. |
| Redirect operation | Proxied | Routes web requests through Cloudflare so the Redirect Rule can execute. |
If both the apex and www are sources, proxy both records and create matching rule coverage. If only one hostname is proxied, the other may continue serving the AI Builder site directly or fail instead of redirecting.
Step 7: Allow propagation and test every variant
Allow up to 24 hours for DNS propagation. Some resolvers update sooner, but cached nameserver and record data can make results differ between networks during the transition.

- Open the apex over HTTP, for example
http://example.com. - Open the apex over HTTPS, for example
https://example.com. - Repeat both tests for
www. - Test a normal path such as
/about. - Test a URL with a query string such as
/pricing?plan=pro. - Inspect the response status and
Locationheader with a browser developer tool or an HTTP client. A permanent rule should return 301 and point to the intended destination.
Test from more than one network or DNS resolver if possible. A result that works on one connection but not another can be propagation rather than a rule error.
Cloudflare versus Hostinger redirect options
The practical choices differ in where DNS is authoritative, where the redirect runs, and whether the AI Builder site remains attached to the domain.
| Approach | DNS authority | Record method | Redirect handler | Proxy requirement | AI Builder remains connected? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare Redirect Rule | Cloudflare nameservers | CNAME connection; old A-record method is deprecated for affected domains from May 20, 2026 | Cloudflare edge | Source record must be Proxied | Yes, if its connection records remain valid |
| Hostinger Website Builder Redirects | Hostinger or the applicable hosting DNS | Hosting-plan configuration | Hostinger hosting | Not applicable to Cloudflare Redirect Rules | No for the AI Builder arrangement described by Hostinger |
| Temporary Cloudflare redirect | Cloudflare nameservers | CNAME connection or another valid Cloudflare record | Cloudflare edge | Source record must be Proxied | Usually, but status is intended for testing or a temporary move |
Hostinger says its own Redirects feature is unavailable while the domain remains connected to Website Builder. To use that feature, Hostinger says the Builder site would need to be deleted and the domain added to a hosting plan or another CMS. That is a different migration decision, not a setting required for the Cloudflare method.
Troubleshooting common failures
The rule never runs
- Confirm that the domain’s nameservers at the registrar are the two Cloudflare-assigned nameservers.
- Check that the source hostname has a DNS record in Cloudflare.
- Switch the source record to Proxied. A DNS-only record cannot trigger a Cloudflare Single Redirect.
- Verify that the rule is enabled and that its hostname expression matches the request, including whether the request uses the apex or
www.
The apex redirects but www does not
Create coverage for both hostnames. The apex and www are distinct DNS names even when they show the same website. Give each a valid record and proxy each source that must redirect.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Hostinger reports that the domain is not connected
- Confirm the AI Builder site is published.
- Check that
@andwwwpoint toconnect.hostinger.comwhen using Hostinger’s manual CNAME mode. - Remove conflicting A and AAAA records at the root.
- Keep the connection records DNS only while Hostinger performs verification.
- Wait for DNS propagation before repeating verification.
Visitors see an old site or inconsistent results
Look for stale A or AAAA records, duplicate CNAME records, or nameservers that were changed at the wrong registrar account. Clear local DNS and browser caches only after checking the authoritative records; cache clearing cannot fix an incorrect Cloudflare zone.

HTTPS loops or shows a certificate error
Set SSL/TLS to Full as Hostinger documents, then check whether the origin and Cloudflare are both forcing HTTPS in a conflicting way. Test the HTTP and HTTPS versions independently and inspect which hop returns the redirect.
The destination loses paths or tracking parameters
Edit the Redirect Rule’s target behavior. Preserve http.request.uri.path when the destination has matching paths, and enable query-string preservation when parameters must be retained. If the new URL structure differs, map only the paths that have valid equivalents.
A DNS change still has no visible effect after a day
After the 24-hour window, verify delegation with an independent DNS lookup, confirm the Cloudflare zone is active, and check that the registrar did not retain an extra nameserver. Then inspect the record’s proxy state and the rule expression.
Recommended configuration checklist
- The AI Builder site is published.
- The domain is added to the intended Cloudflare account.
- The registrar uses Cloudflare’s two assigned nameservers.
- Conflicting root A and AAAA records are removed.
@andwwwuse Hostinger’s CNAME connection value where required.- Hostinger connection records remain DNS only during verification.
- SSL/TLS is set to Full.
- The Redirect Rule matches every source hostname that must move.
- The destination URL, path behavior, and query-string behavior are intentional.
- The source records are Proxied before relying on the rule.
- HTTP, HTTPS, apex,
www, paths, and query strings have been tested after propagation.
What the final request flow looks like
After configuration, a visitor requests the old hostname. The registrar delegation points DNS queries to Cloudflare. Cloudflare resolves the proxied source record, receives the HTTP request at its edge, evaluates the Redirect Rule, and returns the selected status and destination in the response. The browser then requests the destination URL. Hostinger serves the destination only if that destination is still a Hostinger site; the old hostname does not need to reach a Hostinger origin for the redirect to work.
