Verdict: Hosting.com is a capable shared-hosting option when you want NVMe storage, LiteSpeed caching, cPanel, migration help and a low introductory price in one package. It is not uniformly fast worldwide, however, and the September 7, 2026 US pricing snapshot shows renewal totals several times higher than the first payment. Choose a server near your visitors, compare the complete renewal bill, and treat the 99.9% uptime SLA as a contractual commitment rather than a guarantee of identical results for every site.

What Hosting.com offers

Hosting.com sells shared hosting, higher-resource shared tiers and managed WordPress products. Its current plan page advertises NVMe storage, LiteSpeed caching, free migration, free SSL, malware protection, cPanel, Node.js and Python support, unlimited MariaDB databases, and a “99.9% uptime SLA.” The same page advertises a “30-day money-back guarantee” and displays “Starting at US$3.99 / mo.” Those are provider statements; they are not measurements of a particular website.

Shared plans are aimed at people who want a conventional control panel and bundled maintenance rather than assembling a server, control panel, CDN and security stack separately. The practical questions are whether the selected tier has enough resources, whether the datacenter is close to the audience, and whether the renewal price fits the site’s budget.

September 2026 pricing: the first bill is not the long-term price

The clearest total-cost comparison available for US customers is a HostingRanker capture dated September 7, 2026. It shows 48-month prepayment, not monthly billing. Amounts can change with country, taxes, currency, checkout extras and promotions, so use the figures as a dated reference and read the final order summary before paying.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Plan Promotional rate shown First 48-month payment Renewal for the next 48 months Effective renewal monthly cost Observed allowance
Starter $1.99/month $95.52 $479.52 $9.99/month (listed renewal rate) 1 site, 15 GB
Pro $3.79/month $181.93 $959.52 About $19.99/month (renewal total divided by 48) 10 sites, 50 GB
Max $7.79/month $373.90 $1,343.52 About $27.99/month (renewal total divided by 48) 50 sites, 100 GB

A four-year payment ties up cash immediately. The renewal figures are not an estimate of what a monthly customer would pay; they are the totals for another 48-month term in that dated capture. HostingRanker also cautions that extras included in an introductory offer may not recur. Domain registration, add-ons, taxes and any selected services can alter the checkout total.

The provider’s “Starting at US$3.99 / mo.” headline cannot be compared directly with the table without knowing its billing term, region and included extras. Before purchase, expand the term selector, confirm the currency, remove unwanted add-ons, and save a copy of the renewal line. Set a calendar reminder well before the first term ends if you intend to move the site or renegotiate.

Which plan fits a particular site?

Starter: one small site

The captured Starter offer lists one site and 15 GB of storage. It is a sensible starting point for a personal site, brochure site or low-traffic blog that does not need additional installations. The main constraint is not the disk figure alone: concurrent visitors, plugins, background jobs and email activity all consume shared resources. Confirm the account’s CPU, RAM, inode and process limits in the current plan details because those limits were not fully specified in the dated comparison.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Pro: several sites or a growing WordPress installation

Pro’s observed allowance is 10 sites and 50 GB. That additional headroom is useful for a small portfolio of sites, staging copies or a busier content site. It costs more up front and has a materially larger renewal bill, so the extra sites and storage should be something you will actually use rather than a reason to buy unused capacity.

Max: the largest shared tier in this comparison

Max lists 50 sites and 100 GB. It suits an operator managing many modest sites who still wants a shared cPanel environment. “Max” does not make the account a dedicated server: workloads remain subject to shared-platform limits, and a sudden traffic spike or resource-heavy application may still require VPS or another architecture.

Features common to the official shared plans

  • NVMe storage for the account’s files and databases.
  • LiteSpeed caching, which can reduce server work when the application and cache rules are configured correctly.
  • Free SSL and malware protection.
  • Free migration assistance.
  • cPanel administration, plus Node.js and Python support.
  • Unlimited MariaDB databases as stated on the plan page; database count does not remove CPU, memory or storage limits.
  • A free first-year domain on selected annual plans, subject to the eligibility and term shown at checkout.

Backup frequency, retention and restoration limits are offer-specific. The dated comparison ties its backup details and resource limits to that captured promotion, so verify the current policy instead of assuming that every plan includes the same restore history. Keep an independent copy of site files and databases even when a host advertises backups.

How fast is Hosting.com?

There is no single speed score. Independent tests used different plans, server locations, software stacks, test regions and monitoring methods. Their results should be read side by side, not averaged into a number that represents every Hosting.com account.

ThatMy.com’s suite covered shared and VPS products with TTFB checks, load testing, page-speed captures, WordPress benchmarks and 54 days of uptime tracking. Its 172 ms Startup result and 138 ms Turbo Max result are US observations, not guarantees for visitors elsewhere. KripeshAdwani’s 1.03-second India result and 4.36-second US result from a Singapore-hosted site show why the network path can dominate the experience even when the server itself handles requests quickly. The 7.61 ms P95 figure came from a controlled 50-user, 11,000-request test and should not be read as a normal browser load time.

Server location matters more than the plan name

Observed Starter location choices included Ashburn, Dallas, Toronto, Mexico, London, Frankfurt, Singapore, Mumbai and Sydney. Availability can vary by product and date. Select the location nearest the largest concentration of visitors, not necessarily the location nearest you as the site owner.

  • For a mainly US audience, an eastern or central US location generally reduces the distance compared with Singapore or Sydney.
  • For India-focused traffic, Mumbai can avoid the long international route seen in the Singapore test.
  • For European visitors, London or Frankfurt may provide a shorter path than North American locations.
  • For a global audience, use caching and a content-delivery layer in addition to choosing a reasonable origin region.

Ask support to confirm the actual datacenter before migrating. A location selector can apply to a new account but not be available when changing an existing account, and the nearest city is not proof of the network route every visitor will take.

Is the uptime promise reliable?

Hosting.com calls its commitment a “99.9% uptime SLA.” An SLA is a contractual promise, normally with defined exclusions and remedies; it is different from a monitoring result. The provider’s wording does not mean every site will show exactly 99.9% availability from every region.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

ThatMy.com recorded 99.91% uptime for Startup and 99.95% for Turbo Max during a 54-day monitoring window. KripeshAdwani’s displayed monthly table for a Singapore Pro site showed 98.32% in September 2026, 99.79% in August, 99.96% in July and several 100% months; the reviewer reported a 99.99% average over the monitored year. These figures differ because the plans, monitors, locations and windows differ. A short outage can move a monthly percentage sharply, especially on a smaller sample.

Read the SLA exclusions before relying on it for a business service. Planned maintenance, application errors, DNS problems, account suspensions and failures outside the provider’s control may be treated differently from an infrastructure outage. If availability is critical, monitor from at least two geographic locations and keep a tested restore path.

WordPress suitability

Hosting.com provides ordinary shared hosting and separately links to managed WordPress plans powered by Cloudflare Enterprise. Do not assume that a shared plan has the same service layer, support scope or optimization as managed WordPress.

The independent Singapore Pro test used WordPress with Elementor, LiteSpeed Cache and a Gym template. Its 1.03-second India result and 4.36-second US result demonstrate both that the stack can be responsive and that geography changes the outcome. A theme with large images, unoptimized fonts, third-party scripts or uncached logged-in pages can be much slower than the test template.

A practical WordPress setup sequence

  1. Choose the server region based on visitor geography and confirm it before completing payment.
  2. Install the current supported WordPress release and enable SSL before publishing.
  3. Configure LiteSpeed Cache only after checking that page, object and browser caching do not conflict with your theme or ecommerce sessions.
  4. Compress images, defer nonessential scripts and remove unused plugins; caching cannot fix an oversized page or a slow third-party request.
  5. Measure from the countries that matter to your audience, then recheck after installing major plugins or changing the theme.
  6. Keep an external backup of the database and uploads and perform a test restore before treating the site as production-ready.

Migration, security and administration

Free migration can reduce the effort of moving an existing site, but “free” does not remove the need to prepare. Lower DNS time-to-live values before the move, freeze content during the final database copy, check email records and verify forms, cron jobs, redirects and SSL after DNS changes propagate. Keep the old host available until visitors consistently reach the new account.

Malware protection and SSL are useful baseline controls, not a complete security program. Use strong, unique control-panel credentials, enable available multifactor authentication, patch applications and plugins, restrict administrator accounts and retain an off-site backup. cPanel makes routine tasks familiar, while Node.js and Python support helps developers deploy applications that are not PHP-only; confirm the permitted versions and process limits for the chosen plan.

Common purchase mistakes and how to avoid them

Confusing a promotional term with monthly flexibility

The $1.99, $3.79 and $7.79 figures in the September capture require 48-month prepayment. If you need month-to-month flexibility, ask for the applicable short-term rate and compare the total over the period you actually expect to stay.

Budgeting only for the first invoice

Write the first-term and renewal totals next to each other before selecting a plan. Starter’s captured renewal is $479.52 versus $95.52 initially; Pro is $959.52 versus $181.93; Max is $1,343.52 versus $373.90. These are dated US/USD figures and can change, but the size of the difference is the central budgeting issue.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Putting a global audience on a distant origin

The Singapore Pro test’s 4.36-second US load compared with 1.03 seconds from India is a warning against choosing a datacenter solely because the plan is inexpensive. Reconsider the location before migrating; moving later may involve downtime or a new account.

Treating an SLA as a speed or backup guarantee

An uptime SLA addresses availability under its contract terms. It does not promise a particular TTFB, page-load time, backup retention or application performance. Keep your own monitoring and restore process.

Assuming the largest shared plan is unlimited performance

Max raises site and storage allowances, but all shared tiers remain subject to resource policies. Ask for the current CPU, memory, inode, process and database limits if your site runs queues, searches, video processing or other sustained workloads.

A decision checklist before checkout

  • Identify the countries where most visitors live and select the closest available server region.
  • Record the promotional term, first payment, renewal total, currency and tax treatment.
  • Confirm the number of sites, storage, databases and resource limits you will receive.
  • Read backup frequency, retention and restoration conditions for the exact plan.
  • Verify whether the free domain applies to your billing term and extension price after year one.
  • Check migration scope, supported application versions and the support channel available to you.
  • Remove optional extras you do not need and save the final checkout screen.
  • Schedule an uptime and performance monitor from the audience regions that matter.

Who should choose Hosting.com?

It is a reasonable match for a small business, creator or developer who values cPanel, bundled SSL and malware protection, LiteSpeed caching, migration assistance and a low first-term price. It is especially attractive when the available datacenter is close to visitors and the buyer is comfortable committing to a longer term.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Look more cautiously at it when your visitors are spread across continents but the required server region is distant, when you need predictable monthly billing, or when the application has sustained resource demands better suited to a VPS or dedicated environment. In those cases, compare network routes, resource ceilings, backup terms and the full renewal cost rather than choosing by the headline monthly price.

Bottom line

Hosting.com can deliver solid shared-hosting value, but its performance is location-dependent and its introductory price is not the price you should use for a multi-year budget. The evidence ranges from 172 ms US TTFB and 99.91% monitored uptime on a Startup test to a 4.36-second US page load from a Singapore Pro site, while the provider’s contractual wording is a 99.9% uptime SLA. Select the region first, match the plan to actual site and resource needs, and approve the purchase only after you have seen the renewal total.
