For a conventional digital-detox phone, the HMD 2660 Flip is the clearest choice. Its 4G flip design, large buttons, simple controls, social-media-free software and flip-to-answer behavior remove most smartphone distractions without making calls and messages difficult. The Senior Edition adds the inTouch Mary AI companion, but that service is optional and costs €19.90 per month after a five-hour trial.
Choose the Light Phone III if you want a premium minimalist phone with selected modern tools; the Punkt MP02 if a tiny keypad phone matters most; Mudita Pure if you want cellular service without Wi-Fi or on-device mobile data; or Mudita Kompakt if you want an E Ink phone that still has LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, a camera and expandable storage.
Quick verdict
| Phone | Best for | What sets it apart | Main compromise |
|---|---|---|---|
| HMD 2660 Flip | Simple calls, texts and digital detox | 4G flip form, large buttons, large display and flip-to-answer operation | Feature-phone software rather than modern smartphone tools |
| HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition | Older users who want optional AI assistance | Includes the inTouch Mary AI companion | Mary is a paid service after a five-hour trial |
| Light Phone III | Minimalism with selected modern connectivity | 5G/4G LTE, GPS, NFC, fingerprint identification, camera and AMOLED display | Premium $899 unlocked pre-order price and carrier compatibility checks |
| Punkt MP02 | The smallest, most keypad-led experience | 100 g body, compact 2-inch screen and intentionally narrow feature set | Official product information records its last software update as 5 August 2021 |
| Mudita Pure | Offline-first use | No Wi-Fi and no mobile data on the phone, plus an E Ink display | Cannot run internet-based phone apps on the handset |
| Mudita Kompakt | E Ink with broader phone functions | 4.3-inch E Ink touchscreen, LTE, Wi-Fi 5, GPS, NFC, camera and microSD expansion | More capable and therefore less restrictive than Mudita Pure |
What kind of minimalist phone do you actually want?
“Minimalist phone” describes several different products. A digital-detox flip phone limits the interface and makes the physical act of opening the phone a deliberate step. A compact keypad phone minimizes size and input options. An offline phone removes internet connections at the device level. A de-Googled or tool-selective phone keeps useful modern functions while omitting social feeds and app stores.
Those categories lead to different winners. The HMD 2660 and Punkt MP02 impose the strongest everyday limits through their interfaces. Mudita Pure imposes the strongest technical limit because the handset has no Wi-Fi or mobile data. Light Phone III and Mudita Kompakt are less restrictive: both preserve selected tools for navigation, payments, photography or other situations where a purely offline phone is impractical.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
HMD 2660 Flip: the straightforward digital-detox choice
Why it is the best fit for most flip-phone buyers
HMD positions the 2660 as a social-media-free 4G flip phone with a large display, large buttons, simple controls and flip-to-answer behavior. That combination addresses the two reasons people usually abandon minimalist phones: they want fewer distractions, but they still need a device that is easy to operate for routine calls and messages.
The clamshell design keeps the screen and keypad protected when closed. Answering by opening the phone and ending a call by closing it are physical actions that do not require navigating an on-screen menu. Large buttons and a large display also make the phone more approachable for people who find smartphone interfaces crowded or difficult to read.
HMD’s 2 March 2025 press release called the 2660 “the ultimate tool for a digital detox.” That wording describes the product’s role accurately, but it should not be read as a promise that every distraction disappears: calling, messaging and the phone’s basic feature-phone functions remain available.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →What the Senior Edition adds
The 2660 Senior Edition adds the inTouch Mary AI companion. HMD’s 1 March 2026 announcement framed the goal as making technology more accessible and meaningful in everyday life; Chairman and CEO Jean-François Baril said, “At HMD, we believe innovation is most powerful when it makes technology more accessible and meaningful in everyday life.”
Mary is not a permanent free feature. The Senior Edition page states that the AI service has a five-hour trial and then costs €19.90 per month. Treat that recurring charge as a separate service decision from the cost of the handset. If you only want a simple flip phone, choose the standard 2660 and avoid paying for an assistant you will not use.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Who should choose it
- People who want a familiar flip-phone interaction rather than an E Ink touchscreen.
- Families looking for large controls and uncomplicated calling for an older relative.
- Anyone whose priority is removing social-media apps, feeds and smartphone multitasking.
- Buyers who want optional AI guidance but are comfortable with a paid subscription after the trial.
Light Phone III: the premium minimalist phone with modern tools
Hardware and connectivity
Light lists the Phone III with 5G and 4G LTE, GPS, NFC, fingerprint identification, a camera, 128GB of storage, 6GB of RAM and a 3.92-inch AMOLED display. Those specifications put it closer to a deliberately limited modern smartphone than to a traditional feature phone.
The official product page lists an $899 unlocked pre-order price. “Unlocked” does not guarantee that every network will work: Light specifically asks buyers to verify carrier compatibility. Check the supported bands and activation policy for your country before ordering, particularly if you plan to move an existing SIM or use a regional carrier.
Why it is not the default detox recommendation
Light Phone III retains more connectivity and selected tools than the HMD 2660 or Punkt MP02. That makes it more useful when you need navigation, contactless functions, a camera or other modern conveniences, but it also leaves more opportunities for the phone to become a substitute smartphone. It is best understood as a controlled-tool device, not an absolute internet ban.
Protection-plan cost and location limits
Light’s official protection plan is available only in the United States for new Light Phone III purchases. The plan costs $9.99 per month and lists a $49 deductible for damage and a $99 deductible for replacement. Those recurring and out-of-pocket costs belong in the ownership budget alongside the $899 pre-order price; availability and terms can differ outside the United States.
Punkt MP02: compact, keypad-led minimalism
Physical design
The MP02 weighs 100 g and uses a 2-inch 320×240 display with a physical keypad. Its small body is the clearest choice when pocket size and deliberate, text-oriented interaction matter more than screen space.

- Black PopSockets: Simple, refined, and endlessly versatile. A timeless essential for any phone.
- Travel Must-Have for People On the Go: A must-have travel accessory for flights, flying, airports, air travel, airplanes, planes, international trips, cruises, and long travel days. Key gadget for your airport haul, travel accessories and must-haves.
Punkt lists 4G network support, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The phone runs Apostrophy OS and includes Pigeon, Personalise and DailyView. These functions keep the experience focused on communication and basic organization instead of presenting a general-purpose app environment.
The software-update question
Punkt’s product page records the last software update as 5 August 2021. That date does not prove the phone is unusable, but it is an important ownership risk. A buyer should ask how the current software behaves on their carrier, whether security support is still provided, and how any future compatibility problem would be handled before purchasing.
The MP02 is therefore strongest for someone who values a compact, intentionally limited device and accepts an older update history. It is a weaker fit for anyone who expects frequent feature additions, current security patches or a broad app ecosystem.
Mudita Pure: the strongest offline-first option
What “offline” means on this phone
Mudita’s specification for Pure states that it has no Wi-Fi and no mobile data on the phone. That is a hardware-and-software boundary, not merely a setting you might accidentally re-enable. The handset still supports 2G, 3G and 4G cellular service for calls and texts, but it cannot use a mobile-data connection for web browsing or internet apps on the device.
Pure includes an E Ink display, music playback, USB tethering, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and an approximately 1,600 mAh replaceable battery. Mudita’s technical specification identifies a 2.84-inch E Ink panel with 600×480 resolution and 16 grayscale levels.

How tethering changes the picture
USB tethering lets Pure provide a data connection to another device while the phone itself remains without Wi-Fi and on-device mobile data. That is useful if you want your phone to stay offline but occasionally need to connect a laptop or tablet. It is not the same as running internet services directly on Pure, and it does not turn the handset into a smartphone.
Who should buy Pure
- People who want a phone that cannot browse the web or load social feeds on its own.
- Readers who prefer the low-distraction appearance and power behavior of E Ink.
- Users who need calls, texts and music but do not need GPS, a camera or app-based navigation on the handset.
- Anyone who values a replaceable battery and a wired headphone jack.
Mudita Kompakt: E Ink without giving up modern connectivity
Specifications that separate it from Pure
Kompakt uses a 4.3-inch E Ink touchscreen with 800×480 resolution. It supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, GPS and NFC, and has an 8MP camera. Mudita lists 32GB of internal storage, expandable to 2TB with a microSD card, a 3,300 mAh battery and MuditaOS K.
Those capabilities make Kompakt the practical E Ink option for people who still need location services, wireless networking, contactless functions, photography or substantial local storage. The larger screen is also more spacious for reading and touch controls than Pure’s 2.84-inch panel.
The trade-off against Pure
Kompakt is not an offline phone in Pure’s sense. Wi-Fi, LTE data and GPS create a broader toolset and a larger distraction surface. Choose it when those functions solve real problems in your routine; choose Pure when the absence of those connections is the point.

Display and input: flip, keypad or E Ink touchscreen?
| Experience | Most suitable model | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Physical opening and closing with large controls | HMD 2660 Flip | Flip-to-answer behavior, large buttons and a large display |
| Smallest keypad interaction | Punkt MP02 | 100 g body and 2-inch 320×240 screen |
| Small E Ink reading surface with no phone internet | Mudita Pure | 2.84-inch 600×480 E Ink display and no Wi-Fi or mobile data |
| Larger E Ink touchscreen with connected tools | Mudita Kompakt | 4.3-inch 800×480 display, LTE, Wi-Fi 5 and GPS |
| Modern smartphone-style panel with selective tools | Light Phone III | 3.92-inch AMOLED display, 5G/4G LTE and selected hardware features |
Which phone works without social media?
All five approaches are designed to reduce or avoid mainstream social-media use, but they do so differently. HMD 2660 and Punkt MP02 are constrained feature phones, so social apps are not part of their intended experience. Mudita Pure removes the phone’s Wi-Fi and mobile-data paths entirely. Light Phone III and Mudita Kompakt retain modern connectivity and therefore require more self-control: their value is selective access, not total disconnection.

- 【Friendly to Content Creators】If you are a content creator or an online influencer, you can create videos anywhere with this suction mount completely hands free with this silicone cell phone mount for cases.
- 【HANDS-FREE & Adhere to Mirrors】This Double Sided silicone suction phone case mount allows you to stick your phone to the mirror easily. No longer holding your phone in one hand to watch video tutorials while making up.
- 【Strong Grip on the Smooth Surface】You can easily hang your phone anywhere with a smooth surface. All you do is you clean off your phone and smooth surface. It is STURDY and it not only sticks to mirrors, it also sticks to windows, it sticks to refrigerators, tiles and other clean, flat surfaces.
- 【Press Down Firmly Every 30 Minutes】Use your palm or fingers to press the phone down firmly and check it's secure before letting go. Apply even pressure for a few seconds to allow the suction cup to adhere properly. To maintain the grip and prevent accidental falls, it's a good practice to periodically reapply pressure to the suction cup.
If your failure mode is compulsively opening feeds, a device-level limit is usually easier to maintain than a promise to ignore apps. Pure offers the strongest technical barrier. The HMD 2660 offers the clearest everyday barrier while remaining simple to call and text. Kompakt and Light Phone III are better when you have a specific need for connected tools.
Carrier, regional and ownership checks before buying
- Confirm network support in your country. Check the phone’s supported 2G, 3G, 4G or 5G bands and your carrier’s activation requirements. Light explicitly asks buyers to verify compatibility for Phone III.
- Check whether the model is sold for your region. Pricing, stock, warranty coverage and included chargers can vary by market. Treat the Light Phone III’s $899 figure as its listed unlocked pre-order price, not a universal retail price.
- Decide whether recurring services are acceptable. The HMD Senior Edition’s Mary service moves to €19.90 per month after five hours. Light’s US protection plan is $9.99 per month before deductibles.
- Review update history. The MP02 page’s 5 August 2021 update date deserves more scrutiny than a phone with an actively documented update program. Ask the seller or manufacturer about current support before committing.
- Plan charging and repairs. Compare replaceable versus sealed batteries, USB charging accessories, cases, screen protectors and local repair options. Pure’s approximately 1,600 mAh battery is replaceable; Kompakt lists a 3,300 mAh battery, while the supplied specifications do not identify it as replaceable.
- Test your essential tasks. Before cancelling your smartphone line, confirm that calls, texts, emergency contacts, authentication messages, navigation alternatives and any required payment method work on the minimalist phone you selected.
Decision guide: pick by the compromise you can live with
Choose HMD 2660 Flip when simplicity comes first
Pick the standard 2660 if you want a recognizable flip phone, large controls and a strong boundary against social apps. Pick the Senior Edition only if the inTouch Mary assistant is useful enough to justify its subscription after the trial.
Choose Light Phone III when you need selected modern tools
Phone III is the most capable option here for buyers who still want 5G or 4G LTE, GPS, NFC, a camera, fingerprint identification and generous storage. Its price and carrier checks make it a considered purchase rather than an inexpensive experiment.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsChoose Punkt MP02 when pocket size matters most
MP02 is for people who want a compact keypad and a deliberately narrow interface. Its older recorded update date means software support should be part of the decision, not an afterthought.
Choose Mudita Pure when you want the internet absent from the handset
Pure is the clearest answer to “Can I use a phone without internet?” You can use cellular calls and texts, play music and tether another device by USB, but the phone itself has no Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Choose Mudita Kompakt when E Ink and connectivity must coexist
Kompakt is the middle ground: E Ink reduces the visual pull of a bright smartphone screen, while LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, an 8MP camera and microSD expansion preserve modern utility. That flexibility is its strength and its main distraction risk.
Final recommendation
For most readers asking for a minimalist phone, start with the HMD 2660 Flip. It delivers the clearest combination of low distraction, simple operation and ordinary phone functionality. Move to Mudita Pure if you want the strongest offline boundary, to Light Phone III if you need modern connected tools, to Punkt MP02 if compact keypad hardware is the priority, or to Mudita Kompakt if you want E Ink without surrendering LTE and smartphone-adjacent features.
