HackNotice announced a $7 million Series A in June 2022. Strategic Cyber Ventures led the round, and Lytical Ventures participated. The company said it would use the funding to expand its team and distribute its cybersecurity platform.

What HackNotice does

HackNotice sells enterprise cybersecurity software designed to connect threat intelligence with the employees and organizations affected by it. Its earlier threat-awareness approach focused on notifying employees about specific exposures and giving them steps to reduce risk, rather than relying only on periodic, general security training.

The company describes its current focus as pre-breach adversary intelligence for third-party and identity security. Its monitoring covers ransomware leak sites, underground forums, breach datasets, infostealer logs, criminal marketplaces, and threat-actor activity. HackNotice’s product information also describes security-awareness training and assessments, individualized employee notifications, real-time monitoring, phishing tests, and requests to remove compromised personal data.

How its threat-awareness model differs from routine training

Conventional security-awareness programs commonly teach broad practices on a schedule. HackNotice’s stated distinction is to link a particular security event—such as an employee’s exposed password or personal data—to the person affected and provide relevant protective actions. The aim is to make awareness timely and specific, not to replace every training or security-control function.

SecurityWeek reported that the company said it could generate alerts within minutes to a few hours after exposed information entered its index. That timing is a company-reported description, not an independently verified service-level guarantee. Steve Thomas, CEO and co-founder, told SecurityWeek: “From the beginning, we had the view that hackers hack through people. We need to make every employee aware of how they’re being targeted while they’re being threatened, and then help them protect themselves.”

HackNotice democratizes threat intelligence about employees by providing that data straight to the employee themselves.”
