Grand Theft Auto VI does not have a published Metacritic score yet. As of October 19, 2026, the game’s Metacritic page shows “Metascore: tbd” and “User score: tbd”, with zero critic reviews and zero user ratings counted. That means there is no current critic-versus-player comparison to make, and any specific GTA 6 Metacritic number circulating now is unsupported by the live title page.

Rockstar lists GTA VI for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two has announced a $79.99 launch price for those console versions. When reviews and ratings appear, the two Metacritic numbers will describe different groups, different timing and potentially different standards. Reading the count, platform and review sample alongside each number is more useful than treating a one-point difference as a verdict.

GTA 6’s current Metacritic status

The only defensible answer to “What is GTA 6’s Metacritic score?” right now is that it has not been published. The live Metacritic listing reports both score fields as tbd. Its critic-review section contains no available reviews and its user-review section contains no available ratings.

Measure What the page currently shows What that means
Metascore tbd No critic aggregate has been calculated because there are no counted critic reviews.
User score tbd No community aggregate has been calculated because there are no counted user ratings.
Critic-review count 0 There is no published professional review sample on the page yet.
User-rating count 0 There is no player-rating sample to interpret yet.

“Tbd” means “to be determined” or not yet available; it is not a hidden score of zero, a poor preliminary grade or evidence that critics or players dislike the game. A score cannot be interpreted until Metacritic has ratings to aggregate. The absence of a number is the relevant fact.

  • Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.

There is also no independent published statistic comparing GTA VI’s critic and player scores, because both sets are empty at this point. A forecast, rumor or social-media poll should not be presented as the game’s current Metacritic result.

What the Metascore measures

The Metascore is Metacritic’s critic-facing aggregate. Metacritic says it curates a diverse group of respected critics, assigns scores to their reviews and calculates a weighted average. It describes the result as a single number representing critical consensus.

That process produces a compact signal of selected professional coverage. It does not measure every critic who has an opinion, and it does not predict sales, player enjoyment or the experience of a particular person. The weighted calculation also means the displayed number is an aggregate, not a simple poll in which every possible review or publication is necessarily represented in the same way.

What a critic score can tell you

  • How the included professional reviews trend when combined by Metacritic’s aggregation system.
  • Whether the overall critical response is broadly favorable, mixed or unfavorable once a meaningful sample exists.
  • How the game’s reception compares with other titles on the same platform or within the same Metacritic scoring context.

What it cannot tell you by itself

  • Whether the game’s online features, performance or updates suit your hardware and connection.
  • Whether your preferred activities, such as story missions, exploration, driving or multiplayer, match critics’ priorities.
  • Whether a score based on a small early sample will remain stable as more reviews arrive.
  • Why reviewers reached their conclusions. The written reviews contain that explanation; the aggregate does not.

A high Metascore can coexist with a disappointing individual experience, just as a lower score can coexist with a player finding the game ideal. The number is a starting point for reading the underlying reviews, not a substitute for them.

What the user score measures

The user score is a separate community layer built from ratings and reviews submitted by people who choose to participate on Metacritic. It is not included in the critic Metascore and is not a second calculation of the same critic data.

  • FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
  • ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
  • TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
  • Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.

Because participation is voluntary, the user score describes the users who rated the game, not every person who bought or played it. The useful questions are who participated, how many ratings were submitted, when they were posted and what reasons appear repeatedly in the written comments.

Why the user score can add information

  • Players may emphasize long-term play, replay value, progression, online stability or practical performance in ways a launch-window review may not.
  • A large body of ratings collected over time can show whether reception remains steady after launch-day excitement fades.
  • Written player comments can identify recurring issues or strengths that are less visible in a single critic aggregate.

Why the user score needs caution

  • Self-selection means especially enthusiastic or disappointed players may be more motivated to rate.
  • Early ratings can reflect expectations, controversy or technical problems before patches and server conditions settle.
  • Organized or coordinated rating behavior can move the number without representing ordinary play experiences.
  • A score without its rating count and posting dates hides the size and age of the sample.

For GTA VI, these distinctions are currently theoretical because the title page lists zero user ratings. There is no player trend to analyze yet.

Why critic and player numbers may differ after release

A difference between the Metascore and user score is not automatically an error. The two figures answer related but different questions and are assembled from different populations.

Different populations

Critic coverage comes from outlets selected and scored within Metacritic’s editorial system. User ratings come from people who decide to submit a rating. Neither group is a complete census of everyone who encountered the game, so a gap may reflect who chose to participate rather than a simple disagreement about quality.

Different timing

Professional reviews often cluster around a pre-launch or launch review window. Player ratings can accumulate for weeks, months or longer. A critic may evaluate the release build during a limited period, while a player may rate after extensive play, updates, online events or a hardware change.

Different sample sizes

A score supported by a small number of reviews can move sharply when one additional rating arrives. A larger sample usually gives the displayed average more context, although size alone does not prove that the participants are representative. Always show the score and its count together.

Different priorities

Reviewers and players may value different aspects of the same game. A critic might focus on narrative structure, mission design, visual presentation and innovation. Players may place greater weight on progression, technical reliability, online matchmaking, replay value or whether the game works well on their particular setup.

Different platforms and conditions

Performance, controls, image quality and online behavior can vary by platform, display, network and software version. A platform-specific review sample may not describe another version’s experience. Check the platform label before comparing numbers.

Expectations and coordinated behavior

Players can rate against expectations formed by trailers, earlier games or public controversy. In some cases, coordinated rating activity can also push a user score up or down. The numbers alone cannot identify which cause produced a gap; representative written reviews and the timing of the ratings are needed.

How to compare GTA 6 scores once ratings exist

When Metacritic begins displaying numbers, use the following four-part comparison rather than asking which score is “the real one.”

1. Compare the populations

Place the critic Metascore and user score in separate columns or sentences. Label one as a weighted aggregate of curated critic reviews and the other as a community rating from participating users. Do not combine them into a homemade average.

2. Compare the timing

Record when each figure was viewed. Note whether the critic reviews appeared during the launch window and whether the user ratings were posted immediately, after an update or months later. A later player score may incorporate information unavailable to launch reviewers.

3. Compare the counts

Write the number of critic reviews beside the Metascore and the number of user ratings beside the user score. A displayed average with only a handful of entries deserves more caution than one supported by a broad, sustained sample.

4. Compare the reasons and spread

Read a representative selection of positive and negative reviews. Look for recurring subjects such as story, mission variety, performance, bugs, online features, monetization or replay value. A one-point difference is less important than whether the written reasons describe a problem you care about.

What “tbd” means for GTA 6 readers

On the current GTA VI page, “tbd” communicates a data status, not a quality judgment. There are no counted critic reviews from which to calculate a Metascore and no counted user ratings from which to calculate a user score.

That status also means there is no legitimate current answer to questions such as “Are GTA 6 critic reviews out?” or “Can I trust the GTA 6 player score?” Critic reviews and player ratings are not available on the title page at the stated timestamp. Trust becomes a question only after numbers and samples appear.

Do not convert the scheduled release date into a review date. Rockstar lists November 19, 2026 as the release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; the timing and size of any review sample will determine when a comparison becomes meaningful.

How to read the Metacritic page after launch

  1. Confirm the title and platform. Make sure the page is for Grand Theft Auto VI and the correct console version. Do not assume a score for one platform applies unchanged to another.
  2. Check both labels. Read the Metascore and user-score fields separately. A critic number is not a player number, and one may appear before the other.
  3. Record the counts. Note the number of critic reviews and user ratings shown beside or within each section.
  4. Record the retrieval date. Metacritic values can change as additional reviews and ratings are added. A dated note prevents an old number from being mistaken for the current one.
  5. Open representative reviews. Read several favorable, mixed and unfavorable entries. Look for concrete reasons rather than relying on color coding or a single headline.
  6. Check the posting window. Identify whether comments are concentrated on release day, follow a technical incident or continue steadily over time.
  7. Match the evidence to your priorities. If you care about story, inspect narrative discussion; if you care about online play, inspect reports from the relevant mode and period; if you care about performance, check the platform and software version.
  8. Make a decision with uncertainty visible. Treat a small or very early sample as provisional and avoid presenting it as a settled consensus.

Release, platform and price context

Rockstar’s official listing schedules Grand Theft Auto VI for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two’s official announcement gives those console versions a $79.99 launch price and describes pre-order benefits. These are release details, not evidence of a review score.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Platform context matters when you read later coverage. A score attached to a PlayStation 5 version should be identified as such, and an Xbox Series X|S experience should not be assumed identical without supporting reviews. If a future release or version is listed separately, keep its scores and review counts separate rather than blending them into one figure.

Common mistakes when reporting GTA 6 scores

  • Reporting a prediction as a score: Before the page has a number, forecasts and fan expectations are not Metacritic results.
  • Calling “tbd” a zero: Zero counted reviews means no aggregate has been calculated; it does not mean a zero rating.
  • Merging critics and players: The Metascore and user score are separate systems and should remain separate in headlines, tables and analysis.
  • Dropping the count: A score without its review or rating total hides how stable the average may be.
  • Ignoring the date: Scores can change as new entries arrive, so an undated number quickly becomes ambiguous.
  • Assuming one platform represents all platforms: Hardware, performance and online conditions can differ.
  • Explaining a gap without evidence: A difference may come from timing, priorities, expectations, platform conditions or coordinated activity; the numbers alone do not prove which explanation applies.
  • Using one review as the consensus: An individual critic or player comment illustrates a viewpoint but does not replace the aggregate or its broader sample.

A practical trust checklist

Before relying on a future GTA VI Metacritic comparison, verify each item:

  • The page is the current Grand Theft Auto VI listing, not a different Grand Theft Auto title.
  • The platform is clearly identified.
  • The Metascore and user score are shown separately.
  • The critic-review count and user-rating count are visible.
  • The figures have a retrieval date.
  • The samples are large enough for the question being asked, or their limited size is stated.
  • The written reviews include both positive and negative examples.
  • Technical, online and version-specific claims are tied to the relevant time period.
  • No predicted or leaked number is presented as an official Metacritic score.

Bottom line for GTA 6 right now

As of October 19, 2026, GTA VI has no Metacritic critic score and no player score: both fields are marked “tbd,” with zero critic reviews and zero user ratings counted. After launch, the Metascore will summarize a weighted aggregate of curated professional reviews, while the user score will reflect ratings submitted by participating players. Compare them only with their populations, dates, platform labels, counts and written reasons in view. The first displayed number will be a snapshot, not a permanent verdict.
